Wow @ Unforgotten. It's really one of the best written crime shows out there. Call the Midwife has been great this season. I've LOVED all of Trixie's and Nurse Anderson's clothing this season- really lovely! I did not see the twist with Val's grandma coming - AT ALL. I've been loving Les Mis as well. It's been really nicely done! CTM, that was a shock. Poor Val, great acting when she found out about her gran, then Mr Pugh gave his wife an STD..they are not holding back this season. Unforgotten, great series, Dr Finch was so calm when he spoke about the murders ( it was chilling) ..have you seen seasons one and two? Les Mis, very well done, even the musical won't stop playing in my head..

I did see the first two seasons of Unforgotten! It's a great show! I heard it will be back for a 4th season!!!!! At the end when Cassie and Sunny hugged after she had taken a break from work and they were going to visit Haley's grave......it was just such a nice moment. I love that the leads get along and have such great chemistry but it's not romantic, it's just good solid co-workers/friends. It's a classy show for the subject matter it deals with.

The young wife who died after one only paid 7 pounds and her Gram was very proud to say she only charged 7 pounds. And then as someone pointed out to me, Dr. Turner bring up the boils and saying how dangerous the infection could be to a pregnant woman..... the show also really presented the two sides very fairly. Abortion is illegal, those who need it and can't afford much will turn to people like that and risk their lives. Wonderful acting by the actress who plays Val. The look on her face! And kudos to Sr. Francis for losing her meekness and not only delivering baby but kicking all those people out of the house! Trixie's clothes are gorgeous! All the clothes are gorgeous!

Heartbreaking for Val's Gram, surprised that her sentence was so long, but I was glad that they reconciled. Honestly, I think I cried through the entire episode. I cried when Mei (May?) left and waved goodbye, then when she returned and answered "Home". I love this show so much, I will need to start this season over and watch every episode again. I will miss it, but what a great finale! Oh, and I loved beautiful Jane coming to the dance for Reggie, and didn't she look so lovely!

Well, I just wanted to be fair and say that I totally changed my opinion. Once Les Miserable transitioned to showing Cosette as an adult, I was totally hooked. I really enjoyed the last 2 or 3 episodes. Kudos to the creators.

I would love to see the musical. Several years ago in Britain, Julian Lloyd Weber held a reality TV competition where men vied to become the lead in his next production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. One of the challenges they had to complete was climb to the top of the barricade on the stage of Le Miz (running in the West End then) and sing some solo. I remember Weber explaining that Valjean was one of the most difficult male parts in musical theater, because you had to climb and sing after already being on the stage for most of the musical. Sure enough, some of those contestants got winded just trying to do it from scratch.

Shaun Evans as Morse is fantastic. ...I just love him, and I really hate all the crap he and Thursday are taking from their new boss and all. I hope the tables get turned at some point. Very sad to see Thursday's wife looking so glum Morse and Joan - wish they'd get together! The chemistry between them is amazing

This is a good season. The cast is top notch. I really want Morse and Joan together!!!!! Even though Inspector Morse ends up a very single lovelorn man; there's no reason why his younger self couldn't have had a nice love story for a while. I love how Strange uses his position to help the original gang.

I’m even loving the “stash” look on Morse! I agree with all, would love to see them give it a try with Morse and Joan. I can’t believe that ship has sailed for them but Morse is showing a tougher side. Win looks miserable with Thursday, my heart breaks for him. He is treading on eggshells, hoping things will go back to normal for them.

The stash reminds me of young male teachers that grow one to look older and more mature from the kids they teach. I can't picture old Morse with facial hair so perhaps this is as wild as the character gets!

Yes, and Endeavour does look young, plus this phase was probably the trend at that time.

That is so funny, because that exact same thing happened at the high school where I teach. We had a new male teacher join our department. He was actually in this 30's, but is blessed/cursed with one of those faces that looks younger. In the two years that he's been with us, I've noticed that he's discreetly grown a mustache. I told Mr. Red that women change their hair and men grow 'taches when they want to look older.

Fred's brother asked to borrow a huge sum of money (he was dealing with gangsters ) , Fred lent his whole retirement savings to him without telling Win. The brother promised and promised he was good for repayment but when the time came he could not and he and his family had to flee. Win feels that Fred couldn't talk to her about it; he doesn't see her as a partner; she's just the stupid wife after she's sacrificed and stood by him for years and years. She was looking forward to his retirement to spend time with him and the family and not have all their life events interupted by work or the fear that he will never come home. She got a job and has hobbies on her own now bc she feels betrayed by him.

She went off to her sister’s end of last season, but Joan told her dad that she would be back after she calmed down. I think there is more bothering her than just losing the money, I think it’s because he didn’t treat her as an equal by discussing the “loan” with her first. I think Win is angry because he made the decision without involving her.... ETA: thanks Mina, I didn’t see that you answered, (better than I did. )

PBS cut some (I think) important scenes in Apollo: Morse goes to Joan's work to ask for info about Flora (the teen girl) and she won't give it to him b/c she's a minor. He gets huffy and insults Joan and she gives it right back to him (sexual tension). There were other short scenes cut, but this was the longest and most important plotwise. Later when Joan is shown telling him that he had better find the kids she references him coming by her work and he slips in another quick barb about children running away from home most of the time they are not in danger (meaning her).
In Pylon, the big scene they cut was Morse talking to the Vicar about faith and how Morse doesn't have any. I thought it was important for understanding him gazing at the stained glass windows at the end; pondering faith in something, anything, even in his fellow man.
I wish PBS would show the full show and not cut about 15-20 min. of shows.

I’m not sure that all PBS stations made those cuts, I remember watching them. But, I watched all the new episodes when new season of Endeavour started, so maybe that is when I saw them. I agree Mina, it’s important to show each episode in its entirety.
