Bourbon, Barrels And Burgoo - A very pregnant Gail Simmons asks the chefs to feed her cravings in a special Quickfire delivery. Then it's time to celebrate two iconic Kentucky mainstays: local cuisine and bourbon. The Chefs head to Makers Mark, the oldest distillery in America to put their spins on a meal full of Kentucky classics including burgoo, Benedictine, mutton, hoecakes, and dumplings.
Enjoy the show!

Part of me thought that the guy who bought all of the lamb on the black team would sacrifice himself and volunteer to go home.

I thought he might too, but then he revealed that he was friends & co-workers with Nick Elmi, winner of Top Chef 11, who was the poster boy for NOT volunteering to go home in a situation like that.
I held a brief hope that Brandon might go since he did so badly, but in the end I knew they'd keep him and his attitude over Natalie for the sake of TV drama.

I thought that Eddie may have said it was my fault everyone's dishes lacked ... welll... pretty much ANY flavor or substance because I took over 1/3rd of the budget.. but alas, he did not. Although I felt bad for the team on that side because of the situation they still could have done more for their dishes. They should have told him to put back 100 bucks worth of the meat, or given a budget to everyone.. figuring it out prior or something (no reason for 1 person to have 1/3 of the budget to themself, meat or not.), Pablo could have also used the bones for his stew in some manner to give it some richness. As much as I like Natalie, that was NOT the dish to make in the heat. That team had more problems than just the money spent on lamb. I thought it was funny, the people who DID figure out how to do more with less did the best. I don't care for Justin at all, but he made it work when he had a double whammy. I do give him credit. Wasn't it this team that said tom gave them too much money?! And then had like 6 carts to return at checkout?? Oy!
As for the other team, I was shocked to see Nini so bossy this time, I liked it but man.. not expected. Sara was a bit overbearing at the menu planning too. I get it, you are from Kentucky, you can cook everything that screams Kentucky, and I will give you most likely better than anyone else at the table.. but come on, you can't cook it all. Happy that Nini was able to lay the smack down there and get her to commit to the soup beans.

Glad the dude from Ghana and Justin did extremely well in spite of the bs with the meat. And speaking of the meat, it would have been nice if the meat guy on the Black Team volunteered to put back some of it considering how his teammates were all missing things for their own dishes due to his greed. Not cool at all.
I was also happy that Nini got the award, because it was well-deserved.
Brendon continues to bug. I'm so glad that Kelsey put him in his place with "Well actually, he makes African dishes, and most Southern dishes are African-based" to his condescending remark to the Ghana dude that his style of cooking "didn't lend itself to the challenge." It was painfully obvious that he thinks Southern cuisine is beneath him, judging by that "simple" remark he made. Well, it turned out to be more difficult than he thought as his dish was easily the worst of the bunch, but thanks to producer intervention a very talented chef who unfortunately had a bad day due to the fact that she couldn't buy all of her ingredients got sent home instead. Ugh.
