A new Ghostbusters movie is set to be released next year, directed by Jason Reitman. The last Ghostbuster movie that was came out in 2016 had bombed big time. This one is not a reboot and will be “set in the world that was saved decades previously by the proton pack-wearing working stiffs in the original 1984 movie.”

I usually like those Jennifer Lopez light comedies. I know they're not critic approved, but I think they're fun. Oh, it was cute and silly and great views of NYC. Although most NYers don't say 'let's talk about it, let's put on high healed shoes and walk around Manhattan'. I went with my friend to the doctors for a mammogram and after we got the great news that she is cancer free we decided to see Second Act. And it was just perfect. We were a little disappointed about the ending however.

In general I don't find Melissa Mccarthy to be as funny as some people do. On Mike and Molly, I thought most of the other characters were funnier than her.

Halloween (2018) - It was ok, I probably would have liked it better if Jamie Lee Curtis didn't look EXACTLY like my mother. Just feels as if it was the same story repeated 40 years later with better music.
Glass - I wish the last fight scene was a little longer, but thought it was good. Good twists and anything with the amazing James McAvoy, count me in. Etc.

My first official Netflix movie I've watched: Coco. I loved it. Leave it to me to still watch a kids movie even alone at home.

I also went to see Glass this weekend. I didn’t like it as much as Split but I liked it. I was disappointed in the way they used the multiple personalities in McAvoys character. In Split they were so well done and highlighted the outstanding actor he is. In this, I felt like they were more of a novelty.
I also watched Tully. I really didn’t like it. Didn’t see the point of it. Ugh.

The Equalizer 2 was a good movie, though I tend to like just about all movies I've seen with Denzel Washington in them.
I turned off Vanilla Sky.
Actress Leslie Jones is complaining that the new ghostbusters movie is going to ignore the reboot in terms of the plot. This happens all the time in movies, expecially when a previous film bombs. Give it a break. lol

Unexpected good movie this weekend, The Death of Stalin. I had first heard of it on an awards show a year or so ago, I think the Spirit awards. Wasn't sure how it could be funny, but it was! It also was just plain old good. It was interesting how the director/writer had all this stupidity and even silliness with people jockeying for power with Stalin ill (I like the "he's not quite dead yet" scene) along with scores people being arrested and jailed right and left, which was just awful in its scope. Somehow they got it to work. I even looked up some of the background and a lot of it was true. I highly recommend it.

Yesterday went to see A Dog's Way Home. It was pretty much about exactly what the title says: A dog is separated from his master & goes on a long trek to try to go home. It's clearly geared towards children, but I enjoyed it a lot. The grandchildren liked it a lot too. It's not going to appear on any critics' choice lists, but it was a nice story with a good ending. A good movie to take the kids to. I had one major problem with it: The previews give away way too much of the story, although it was fun to watch it play out.

Went today to see Ben is Back. It was tough to watch but so worth it. It was incredibly well written. They got in a lot of history and back story explained with well written dialogue. It’s also one of those movies that puts the viewer inside the mind of the person suffering - in this case the mom struggling with her family being torn apart by opioid addiction. It is NOT a feel good film, but incredibly well done.

I haven't seen this movie but knew the title as it was based on a book by author W. Bruce Cameron with the same title. I'm glad you enjoyed it! I don't have grandchildren but know that my former students probably will love it!

I need to watch Roma. I keep getting mad when it beats out Blackkklansman for awards, so I need to be fair and watch it to know whether or not it deserves to. I usually try to save subtitled films for when I"m flying and can really pay attention as I need to ... I just need somewhere to travel so I can watch it!

I didn't really like Deadpool a whole lot, but I'm not a big super hero movie fan. It's nice that it wasn't pg-13 like just about every other super hero movie though.

I just watched The Mask of Zorro from 1998, on Movies! I haven't seen it in years. In addition to the movie being quite good, Catherine Zeta-Jones & Antonio Banderas were both absolutely gorgeous then. Not that they aren't good looking now, but then they were stunning.

I went to see A star is Born tonight. I really didn’t like it. If I’d gone to see it as a summer fluff movie I may not have felt the same. But going to see it as an Oscar nominee said to be a front runner ... I started resenting the Oscars for drawing me in.

I watched Fyre on Netflix. I wanted to cry multiple times. I would be so scared stuck on that island. I was so angry that people scammed all these people and that workers did not get paid.

I started watching Don Jon, about a ladies man who thinks that he might want to settle down. Tony Danza plays his dad and has been funny so far.

She is SHOCKED I have not seen it yet and GF thinks it is the most AMAZING movie in 20 years. Fine, but I will wait until I see it on HBO or SHO .... but for now, naaaaa. Now that being said, WHAT HAPPENED to ASIS as far as REWARDS shows .... I think so many rumors out there was that it was going to take 'everything' .... hmm. Gaga and BC actually looked really sad at the GG's ... I think last night despite 4 NOMS, they may have gone into the SAG's realizing there is allot of competition out there. I told GF it was Bohemian Rhapsody that I have seen 2x as I just love their music and I love RM .... I am so happy for that movie!!!

To be honest, I'm not sure that I'd be handing out a lot of awards to Bohemian Rhapsody either if I was in charge. I really enjoyed that movie - but I don't think I'd described it as an Oscar caliber movie either. I heard someone say that the reason that movie was so well received was that people had forgotten just how fantastic Queen's music is, and the music is used so well in that movie that you can't help but walk out feeling great. But in terms of film content ... the fact that they re-enact the ENTIRE Live Aid set suggests they didn't have a great deal of material to work from. It's an amazing feat, and would have been a great way to promote the movie as a web video ... but I don't think that it puts in in the same category as what we think of as memorable Oscar winning movies. I think that in terms of those movies, 2018 was just a weak year for movies.

I've never forgotten their music, not once. I think having been to Queens concerts, neither have a lot of other people. Long live the Queen! I liked A star is born, I'm a huge lady GG fan and I love Bradley Cooper, it just didn't do the same for me, as Bohemian Rhapsody. Congrats to Rami on his SAG award.. .
