A Simple Favor on EPIX which comes with my Comcast subscription. It was terrific with Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively. I'd highly recommend!!

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I really liked it. Much more true to Tarantino than some are saying.

"He loves me, he loves me not" a French film starring Audrey Tautou from Amelie about erotomania. The story is told first from her point of view, then from her "lover's" and you find out something quite sinister and sad is taking place. It's a very good film and you manage to feel bad for Audrey's character even at her worst because she's so sick, but you feel even sorrier for the "lover" and his family.

Night Eats the World. Its a French/Norwegian zombie movie. Guy goes to his ex's apartment where she is having a party to get some tapes. He gets hit in the face and gets a bloody nose. He goes into a quite room and falls asleep. When he wakes up and opens the door there is blood everywhere and no one in sight. Its basically him in this apartment building, trying to conserve food, raid other apartments, and avoid the undead. He is also very lonely... it makes him nearly mad. I enjoyed it.

I went on a binge over the weekend watching several old movies that I remember from a LONG time ago thanks to You Tube and Comcast recently adding Hitz movies to the movie line up.
On the Right Track - Gary Coleman's first movie, where he plays a boy who chooses to live in a locker in Union Station to avoid being put into the foster care system. He's also got a knack for picking winning horses while shining shoes. It wasn't perfect, and wasnt' plausible, but it was entertaining and held up a lot better than I expected it to.
Light of Day - Michael J Foxx and Joan Jett as brother and sister in a rock band in Cleveland. I grew up in Cleveland and vividly remember the couple of weeks when they came to town to film this. It was fun to see the sights of the city again, and there are some good songs in the movie, but overall it's not very good. Didn't hold up.
Xanadu - It's been years since I watched this. I know it's well remembered as a terrible movie, and there are a lot of terrible movies of this era that I love. Turns out this is not one of them.

We were so excited. I remember thinking I should like it but it was bad.

Reign over me, with Don Cheadle and Adam Sandler. About a man who is very depressed after his family was killed on 9/11. Good movie, Sandler should do more non comedy roles.

Yeah, Xanadu wasn't a great movie, but Gene Kelly AND that soundtrack!
I watched Plus One on Hulu the other day. Cute romcom with Jack Quaid and Maya Erskine as BFFs who, in order to avoid the singles table, agree to be each others "plus one" at the mass of weddings they each have to attend. Predictable (it's a romcom after all!), but cute. Definitely a step up from some others in the genre that I've watched on various streaming services. Both the leads were terrific.

Gene Kelly was wonderful, but he deserved a better movie!

Where'd You Go, Bernadette: I really liked this movie. It didn't capture enough of the humourous interactions between Bernadette and the "gnats" that were described in the book, unfortunately. But, overall, it was a fun movie that left me leaving the theater with a smile and a couple of tears. Kate Blanchett was perfect as Bernadette.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: I also really liked this movie too. I loved the 60s nostalgia. The acting was superb, which it ought to have been with this all star cast. I didn't find myself too invested in the storyline though. I thought the ending was an interesting take on history.

TCM was airing an Audrey Hepburn marathon yesterday and I watched "Funny Face" with Hepburn and Fred Astaire. I'd never seen it before. It was really delightful! Just prior they were showing "Sabrina" which I'd seen before, and love. Next up was "Charade" with Hepburn and Cary Grant but it was midnight and I was too sleepy so I recorded it. Not sure I'll be into it as I am not one for thrillers but I do love Cary Grant, so maybe I will give it a try.

This weekend i did another throwback weekend and watched The Incredible Shrinking Woman for the first time in probably 25 years. Im so glad I revisited this memory from my childhood as an adult - as entertaining as it was as a kid, it was nice to see what a larger message the movie really did have ... and it was pretty much right in what it said warning people that fake food and other household products may just not be a good idea.

I haven't seen that in ages. Never thought about the message back then, but I certainly do now.

I watched Inherent Vice today. It is a bit over 2.5 hours long. Stars Joaquin Phoenix, Owen Wilson, Josh Brolin Benicio Del Toro & Reese Witherspoon. I don’t know if I liked it or not but some of the performances kept me interested.

The Girl with A Pearl Earring. Very interesting movie about the famous painting & how it came about even if no one still knows who the actual girl was. It stars a very young Scarlett Johansson. There has to be more close up & reaction shots in this move than I have ever seen before, buit they add to the feel & don't distract. I give it a thumbs up.
