I know the show ended a few years ago, but I still follow Ballet West on social media and I check up on what the dancers are doing from time to time.
The big news today is that Allison and Rex are expecting a baby in December! (If you click on the pic below, it enlarges)
Also (and I think I posted some of this at the old site): - Beckanne is now a principle dancer
- So is her boyfriend, Chase
- Allison is now first soloist (no word on whether she'll retire or come back after the baby)
- Rex's brother Ronnie is still with the company, as a member of the corps
- Joshua - the lone (at the time) African American dancer in the company is now a demi-soloist

I'm so glad to hear the news about Ballet West! I LOVED this show! And this poster of Beckanne is one of my favorite ballet pictures of all time. _

More updates for the one other person who watched the show! Imperfect1 After 21 years with Ballet West, Christopher Ruud is set to retire at the end of the season: Christopher Ruud RetiringBeckanne and Chase got engaged earlier this year: Ballet West Swan Lake ReviewChase is now a principal with the company as well. Allison and Rex now have a baby boy named Ajax, born on 12/13. If you're on FB, she has lots of pics and video of him. He's adorable!
It looks like Allison is back in the swing of things and back in pointe shoes as of (I think) today. She played the role of the Queen in Swan Lake recently, but that's not a dancing role. It's really nice that Adam Sklute is letting her bring the baby to rehearsals. Is there any way that kid is NOT going to be a dancer!?

Before watching Breaking Pointe I was never a 'ballet person' --- but this show converted me! I was so taken by both the beautiful (and highly skilled) dancing and the intriguing personal stories. Since then, I've always thought that this show is what 'reality tv' should really be like -- rather than the harsh negative energy of so many other reality shows. I miss the show, and look back on it soooo fondly. PS Now I have to go and check out all of the links you provided!

You're welcome! If you're on FB, Ballet West posts a lot of content on their page, including videos. They posted this one recently, which is actually from last year. It's about diversity at BW and was created by Joshua Whitehead. Really good stuff!
Predictably, the company FB has lots of stuff about Beckanne (she's the darling of the company), but also about other dancers.
I'm curious to see if they'll be promoting one of the men in the company to principal from first soloist to fill the space left when Christopher Ruud retires. It's not uncommon for that NOT to happen and for them just to use first soloists in principal roles, at least for a while. I'm rooting for Christopher Sellars to get "called up," since he's my hometown boy!

Loved the video! What a pleasant surprise that diversity was the topic, and that Ballet West has so many dancers of different ethnicities! Yay BW!!!

Being a dancer myself and a dance teacher, I loved this show. Ballet was my first love and I guess that always will stay with me. Thank you for this information.

OMG! How did I not know that this thread had been revived? I loved this show and felt a special attachment since, as a Utahn, it's my local ballet. I'm Facebook friends with their Director of Communications, so I see a fair amount of stuff about the company, but clearly I need to follow the company on Facebook, because I've missed out on a lot of juicy stuff. Thanks Critical for all of the links and good info! I'm happy for Allison and Rex and for Beckanne and Chase. After reading that review, I'm mad at myself for not going to see Swan Lake! I'm so happy that this thread is here for discussion and sharing of news!

I LOVED this show!! Seeing this thread, I checked on Amazon, you can buy the season (and I have it on my watch list). Can't remember and couldn't find it, but was there a second season?

I’m Facebook friends with the former Director of Communications for Ballet West. Today Allison Tilton and Adam Sklute were commenting on one of his posts, and it took me a minute, but I realized that was Allison from the show with her married name.
At any rate, I clicked on her name and her cover and profile pictures show two of the most adorable kids (and Rex in one of them with the kids). So sweet!
P.S. According to her Facebook page, she is still a first soloist with Ballet West.

Here's a pic of my favorite (former) Ballet West ballerina, Beckanne Sisk!

She was my favorite, too! For a while, that image was a huge billboard on the intersection of the main North-South street in Salt Lake and the street I always take to come into town, and I loved driving by it. So beautiful!

Over the years, I've occasionally checked the Ballet West website and to see who's still in the company. None of the dancers from Breaking Pointe are still in the company at Ballet West. I know Allison retired a while back. It looks like Rex did too. They now have their own ballet school.
Beckanne and Chase (who are now married), left BW a few years ago and are both principals at Houston Ballet.
The current director of the Ballet West Academy is Evelyn Cisneros, who was THE Principal at San Francisco Ballet during the 80s and 90s and is considered the first prima ballerins of Hispanic heritage. I keep tabs on her because, when we first moved into our house when I was 3 or 4, Evelyn's family lived next door to us. She's the reason I started dancing and I went to the same studio she studied at.
Funnily enough, Christopher Sellars, who was on Breaking Pointe, more as a background character than a lead, is the son of the man who bought my childhood dance studio. He's now back in our hometown and has his own studio, but I think, at least for a bit, he and Evelyn both worked at Ballet West. Strange coincidence!

Thanks for all of that good info, Critical. I guess Allison left her Ballet West title up in reference to her past accomplishments, which is valid. Her bio did reference a dance studio, but I didn’t realize that she and Rex owned it. Nice!
