Grease Night - Celebrity and pro-dancer couples take on performances inspired by 'Grease.' Olivia Newton-John is rumored to make an appearance.
Enjoy the show!

What a great surprise! I had heard about a few others making an appearance but not ONJ.

Olivia Newton John looked GREAT! I'm so glad to see her looking so well. This theme is a fun one, and the dances have been fun too. ETA: sounds like they cleaned up the lyrics a bit too (thank goodness)!!

I loved watching Melanie and Gleb's dance! So fun! The quickstep was perfect for that song, and like Bruno said, all the attention is on the legs and feet, and I thought she rocked it!
All 9s for them.
ETA: Ohhhh no! Poor Melanie got eliminated tonight. Booo!!!!!

Melora is a lovely dancer, there's a sameness about her though, no surprises. Iman wasn't as good this week, and the Miz was born to dance that dance, he's very enjoyable Amanda is always good... Suni and Sasha were fast! Goodness. Very enjoyable Jimmie, I enjoy him so much he's getting better Kenya's rumba was very sensual..with that wig on she reminds me of someone, she's beautiful. Jojo and Jenna, it's really difficult to tell who the pro is, it was the best dance this season. with the first perfect score! Mel put to much pressure on herself , she danced well. Cody was okay..not his best. Going home, Melanie...she looked so dejected. It's a tough season..

Aw, seeing Frankie Avalon got me all misty. Grease was such a huge part of my childhood. I remember too, when it came back into theaters in the 90s, going to see it and having it turn into a singalong. The whole audience (save the sorority girls in front of us who knew the songs from only the first third of the movie ) sang along LOUDLY, much to the annoyance of the middle-aged guy sitting near us. What did he expect!?
Nice little connection there with Olivia Jade, since her mom played FA's (and Annette Funicello's) daughter in Back to the Beach.
Navybelle - when you know the actual lyrics, it's kind of hilarious how many high schools put on this show. Of course, they edit the lyrics, but still. Parents seem to get in a tizzy about other shows, but never seem to have an issue with Grease.

Well that was a sad elimination! If I could have chosen who to send home, it would have been Cody. He just doesn't have good posture, and he doesn't seem to be improving as much as some others. I realize he's been sick, so I suppose I should cut him some slack for that, but he's still my choice. Iman is among the bottom, too, but I really like him, and he does such a good job for a tall buy, so I'm glad he stayed.

I can't put my finger on it, but there's something about Cody that just rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it's something about his attitude
It seems like there's at least one elimination like this in every season - a high-scoring dancer who gets the boot when there are others who scored much lower. This season, there aren't that many "bad" dancers, so I think we're going to have more bummer eliminations than normal.
The next group of dancers to go home should be Cody, Imam and Kenya.
I'm surprised at how not excited I've been by Suni. She just doesn't seem to have much joy - her dances feel very robotic to me.
Jojo and Jenna definitely deserved those scores. They were fantastic. I think Jenna's really risen to the choreographic challenges this season.

While I may agree with your assesment of the dancers, that's not how the show works. The viewers vote on who should stay, not who should go. No matter how much we, as viewers would like to choose who leaves, we can't. We can only choose who gets our votes to stay. A fan base can, and has in the past, keep an undeserving dancer there. This is why the show has chosen to let Len pick between the bottom 2. Sooner or later an extremely "popular" but poor quality dancer will land in the bottom 2. Then Len can & will send them home. This ensures that they won't win the season. In watching the show, this sometimes gets lost in the eliminations, but they clearly announce that the decision for placement is made based on the combination of the Judges' scores & the viewers votes. With a season with no "bad" dancers & scores that are so close, sometimes one of the better dancers can leave simply based on 1 slightly substandard dance, or a few fans not voting, or voting 1 time for someone else.

I understand how it works, but a girl can still dream.

I understand how it works, but a girl can still dream. Exactly. That's why I said and emphasized "should." in that post. We all know that a good third of the winners in this series have NOT been the best dancers. It's not just Bobby Bones. It's always been a popularity contest. We can still be annoyed that a good dancer gets eliminated and a subpar one stays.

We can still be annoyed that a good dancer gets eliminated and a subpar one stays. I've noticed something else in recent seasons, especially this season: It used to be that the contestants were expected to have limited dance backgound/experience at most. Most had none at all. Anyone who made their living as a dancer was a no-no. I remember when Nicole from Pussycat Dolls won her season & many viewers were up in arms. If I remember, the term "ringer" was thrown around a lot. Now it's no holds barred. Loads of people who make a living as dancers. The no experience ones are few & far between. While I enjoy watching the ones with experience because they are lovely dancers, it's really not fair. I prefer the back-in-the-day seasons where we watched people learn & improve & become good dancers with no or little dance background. It was more fun & a bit inspirational that way. Now it seems it's just a showcase for people who are already dancers.

Just in passing since Nicole S was mentioned, she will play Daddy Warbucks' secretary in the live TV "ANNIE" early in December. Harry Connick Jr is DW and a number of other well known actors have starring roles
