Season 1 Episode 1 - "Past is Prologue" - October 25, 2021
I liked the original "The 4400" when it was on the USA network although it lost its way on season 3 and was getting some direction in season 4 and you really wanted to see what the resolution of the mystery. So reboots can be either really bad or really good. The big difference is that the premise states that marginalized people are the ones that vanished. However the main female character is a woman of color and a lawyer at a prominent law firm in 2005, that is not a marginalized person. The show is really pushing the marginalized aspect and is making sure the only sadistic guard is white. Do we really need to go there?
The big difference between the original show and the reboot is how the returnees are being treated. The original show aired in 2004 only 3 years after 9/11 happened. The original returnees were interviewed and allowed to return to their lives although they were somewhat monitored. In the reboot, the returnees are being treated as if they are all suicide bombers all set to explode. The female police officer is determined to find out what plot they are hiding as all fugitives are crooks and liars. The social worker is treating them like they are human refugees, with a bit of human compassion.
What is really ridiculous are the way some of the guards are behaving. The one white guard who threatened to hit the one 4400 with his night stick, the same guard is telling people to rush through the food line, and then tells the same 4400 he threatened with his night stick she can't play the piano any more. Seriously, they could have handled that much better. I feel as if the head writer is trying to be a SJW, a social justice warrior. Just write a good strong story with decent flawed characters on both sides and allow the story to unfold naturally and not hit the viewer on the head, we viewers are pretty smart and can figure it out on our own.

EW Review: ew.com/tv/4400-how-cw-reboot-compares-to-original/They also included a transgender doctor from the 1920's. I like how in much of the publicity the show claims the folks that disappeared where marginalized people. Where are the homeless, the orphaned, the disabled? Where are the Asians, the Hispanics, the Natives? I see a rich spoiled girl in a pink outfit who bulimic. I see a doctor. I see a rich church kid. I see a lawyer. I didn't realize that rich kids, doctors, and lawyers were marginalized people.

I watched the original show on USA and loved ii, so I wasn’t going to watch this version. However, one of my friends is working on the show so I’ll give it a watch.

Three episodes in, and I like it! I don't know why the guards are so harsh, but it's interesting learning each character's backstory. The latest episode deals with Ladonna and where she was just before being taken. Wow! It's striking how violently they were taken and just thrown on the ground in that park. I'm interested to see where this version goes.

I'm interested to see where this version goes. One thing I detested is Ladonna's comment that it was COBOL programming on a piece of paper and that it had not been used since the 1970's. People do your research. First of all how would an influencer from from early reality TV even know what COBOL is much less when it was used? If it was used last in the 70's that would be 30 years before her birth. In fact COBOL is still in use today by many federal agencies and global banking systems.

I caught up on all the episodes, (nothing to do), I did fast forward through alot of the sappy back stories.
I do work with a lot of ex-military and a local police force and must say that the behavior of the guards, is way over the top and would not be tolerated especially in a case like this were it is more of a holding pattern then a bunch of hardened criminals. It echoes Nazi death camp. It is a bit much to take and feeds into the stereotype of brutal white police officer beating up on people of color. It could be handled so much better.
The pastor reeks, I can't put my finger on it yet, but to assume you are going to be the leader. Dude you are going to get everyone killed. As much as his backstory shows a bit of rebellion he comes across as a total opportunist and potential spy for Big Brother as long as he benefits. Oh, forgot to add total homophobe.

Season one is over and I watched the finale.
Wow, white supremacists are responsible for all the evil and woes of the world and Manny; Jahrell's missing younger brother, has come back in time to blow up the sanctuary hotel which is full of the 4400, who are mostly people of color to create a huge sacrifice that will change the world.
The 4400 Haters break into the hotel with the intent of killing them all. They end up back at their warehouse headquarters are scared off by a giant dancing iguana then end up back at the hotel just to be arrested by the National Guard.
Just too stupid and simplistic to watch anymore.
