I have to start with a comment. From the first episode to the last, the one thing I have heard over and over and over and over is.... "I have never fit in." To that I will say.... "Welcome to the club!" I don't know of 1 woman (and many men as well), regardless if they are Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, Jewish or anything else who hasn't felt the same way..... myself included. But you know what? That is life. We have ALL experienced it. What does matter is how you handle it. Most of us have had to work hard, and have had to face many difficulties. I don't mean to sound harsh, but hearing the constant same story repeated by so many this season got old, especially when.... there they are at NY Fashion week, designing clothes that face it, very few of the public would ever wear, or could ever afford to wear. Many people have talents they would love to be able to express, and don't even have the opportunity. We need to remember we are not saving lives here. I just think a little perspective is needed.
Thanks for letting me vent.
As for the winner, I am very happy for Shantall. From first to last, I personally voted Coral, Shantall, Chastity, and Kristina, but Shantall did a lovely job.
Coral's embroidery materials with the vivid colors won me over. Growing up in CA and going to Mexico often, that material reminded me so much of the Mexican culture. The way Coral used it was fresh and different. That is what edged her out over Shantall for me.
Chastiy has a great talent. I love beading and sparkle, but her collection was all to "costumey". Hilfager was right when he said she would have a great future designing costumes for the stars. Her clothes were well made, and lovely, but I don't know of a single person who has anyplace to wear any of them, and they are the type of outfits even a celebrity would wear once.
Kristina's materials were beautiful. Her prints and colors were fun and feminine, but the designs were much too much like underwear. Thankfully, she listened to Christian and realized that "no bra at all" would have been terrible, but even with that, you would have to be grossly underweight to even feel comfortable in her clothes.
Negative comments aside, there was a lot of talent in these final four, and I think they all did a great job.

I expected Shantall to win and the judges did not disappoint. I would have been happy with a Coral win too.
I don't know if Tommy is as nice as he always seems but every time I've seen him interact with new designers he is so nice and encouraging to them.

I too liked Coral’s collection but knew Chantel would win. I definitely didn’t like the dress she wore and Christian wanted in the collection.
Chasity’s was least favourite. The ruffles and all those beads.
Kristina’s stuff was very pretty but wouldn’t wear it. I too don’t have the shape. The model had the board done pat , must have one…lol it was kind of creepy. Yes to the bra!
Shantal likes that wave . Maybe the snake pattern looked better in person.
Coral’s colourful coat was my favourite .
Over all this was a good runway. I think Christian really helped them to tellling Shantel to lower the pant leg, order of them coming down the run way.
What will I watch Thursday night now…lol

Wow! That was a good finale. Everyone did a great job. Some outfits were stunning. Others were a little out there. I would never wear celery as a print. 😃 I hope each of the finalists finds much success in the future.

It was good. The collections were so different. I really think Christian made the mentor job his own after starting out in Tim's shadow. I thought he became more helpful as he became freer to offer actual suggestions as to changes they could make.
Did anybody ever hear why Elaine was not there?

The fashions were beautiful, but is anyone surprised Shantall won? She is so talented. Is this the first time that Project Runway's save finished as the winner?
Coral's collection was also beautiful! I was a little disappointed at Kristina's collection and still believe Chastity should have been eliminated as a semi-finalist.
What has somewhat surprised me is there wasn't a finalist ranking. Unlike previous years, I'm not hunting down all the collections including the decoys, or were there decoys this year?

I liked all of the collections including Chastity's. It's true that it was costumy, but I think she's very talented. I'm glad Tommy Hilfiger suggested dressing celebrities. I could see her being the next Bob Mackee. That bodysuit was amazing!
I'm glad Shantall won, but I would have been happy with Coral, too. That final look, including the headpiece, was divine! She deserved the standing ovation!

Amazon did not make the finale episode available until today--Saturday.
All of the girls did such a wonderful job. No let downs
Kristina--I am glad she made a bra for that girl. That would have been so so so so bad if she had not. Her collection was thoughtfully beautiful. I like the pink jacket outfit. The hoverboard outfit was good. She appeared to float like a queen. I was looking at her face more than I was the outfit.
Chastity--Several diva moment outfits. For the girly girl. Maybe some non-evening wear could have helped her. I know they like to see what a women could wear for all types of occasions.
Corale--I would have preferred the last outfit to not have that head piece. I was young in the 70s. Macrame is for hanging plant holders. That being said, her outfits were beautiful. Watching it two times, the only women's outfit I can remember is the colorful one I wanted the headpiece to be removed from. The leading male outfit was really impressive and strong. She could probably get rich on doing menswear. The mens coat in something other than leather would be magnificent.
Shantall--Chastity's was my favorite finale collection; but Shantall is my favorite to win based on the whole season. I would have like to have seen one or two outfits that were more fitted, not baggy.

I was happy with the win, but I too prefered Coral's collection. Kristina was my least favorite. I thought Kristina's looked like it was inspired by a crime scene. Splotches of blood and fingerprint powder.

I was so disappointed in Shantel's original Easter egg color when Christian visited her at home. All that work and the color was cheap looking. So glad she went with the rich gray. Pastels are hard to work with unless you are doing a spring-time chiffon outfit.

And that pastel reminded me of 80's as did that whole collection. I didn't like it. At all. It looked like Miami 1980s by way of Chico's. And more unpopular opinions......my favorite collection was Kristina's. Yup. I know. I LOVE a print, and the conceptual elements appealed to me. When did they start to judge on the clothes being marketable? I loved that celery print and that one dress in the front has one look and the back has a different one. I thought the hoverboard was going to be gimmicky, but I actually liked it. I never particularly liked her looks before this.
A very close second was Coral's. Modern Mexican? Yes, please. She had the only look that people applauded. Macrame all day!
I loved seeing Chasity's daughter's expressions when she saw her mother's looks on the runway. I didn't like the introduction of the purple with the black and felt that it cheapened the looks. But loved TH's suggestion that she be a designer for mega-watt stars. YES!!

That colorful jack Coral created was my favorite piece of NYFW. I personally loved Coral’s entire collection the best, but after the judge’s discussion about whose pieces are more marketable, I agreed with Shantall’s win. When I first saw Shantall’s pastel yellow look during Christian’s visit, I thought “Bad mistake. Gray’s a better compliment for that red.” I guess she heard me. I liked Kristina’s prints more than the judges, even the celery look. So flowy. My favorite of Kristina’s looks was the outfit that she wore. I thought the hoverboard was a mistake, though. Chastity’s looks were pretty but not suited for NYFW. I agree with Hilfiger who said she’d be good designing stage performing garments for the stars. Hers was my least favorite collection. I would have liked it better if she would have added some interesting pops of color. Purple and black didn’t translate into strength for me. Her designs were well constructed, but it looked a little dark and depressing after a while. This was a tough runway because everyone in the finale was so talented. I loved the attention to detail. Loved all the zippers and beading and macramé and prints. This was one of their best finale’s, imo.

I, too, liked Kristina's prints and her collection. (As an aside, my favorite laugh of the finale was when people reacted so knowingly to the "She's French!" explanation for the model being OK with being nude under the outfit. It's a cliche, but it's also so true.) While I do understand the judges wanting to pick someone who can build a successful brand, there are multiple lanes in the fashion world, and the type of commercial success Tommy Hilfiger was emphasizing is only one of them. Obviously, one has to be able to sell something to someone, or they won't stay in business, but who they sell to can vary greatly. I think there are plenty of people who would want to buy Kristina's beautiful prints and wouldn't worry about the "fact" that they might only be good for one season (something I would debate is not true for the average person but only applies to the world of high fashion).

I liked what Kristina wore, too, Joseph! Elaine had COVID and was quarantined during NYFW, she posted. I think that is such a shame, since Tommy seemed to alter the direction of the deliberations. I'd be very interested in how things would've turned out with Elaine there. I loved so many things Shantall did all season, some of the most gorgeous things! But that finale collection was mostly horrible. the dress she wore herself looked extremely matronly. Christian even referred to her clothes as "stuffy" in the fittings. Yuck. I liked one pair of pants I saw, and that was it. Hers was the collection I was most excited to see, since she had made such beautiful clothes during the season, and I knew she was the favorite, so I was extremely disappointed when I saw what she did. And what she wore! ugh. Coral should have won. She got the standing ovation from her peers, did what Christian advised, and it all looked amazing. The menswear look was cool! I loved so much of her collection, and can't believe she never won in any episode all season. She was so sweet, too. Kristina and Chasity also had many great looks in the finale! I was pleasantly surprised with some of Chasity's, because I thought she should have been eliminated a lot earlier, but I like her, and am glad she got the chance to show. Kristina's poppy print was so pretty! I'm also glad the French nipples didn't make their appearance on the runway. They are all very talented designers, and I enjoyed most of the finale (minus Tommy). Shantall deserves the win only for all the successful looks she had during the regular episodes, not for this collection; she's definitely not the worst winner they've ever crowned on this show. (Gretchen?) Christian really impresses me, and he's perfect for this role, since he's ACTIVELY involved in the business. He's successful and current, not to mention hilarious and fun.

I broke down and got Peacock because I wanted to see how it all ended, and it was wonderful. There is something so strong and powerful about all-female finalists putting out extremely personal work; it was pure Woman Magic. There were several times during the different runways that I was almost in tears because I felt it. I felt very sad for Chasity and her creative block; it always happens at times that are terrible and you have to work your way out of it. I was happy that she was able to make a coherent, lovely collection in the time she had left. Christina's work looked strange on the rack but looked and flowed beautifully on her models; there were several pieces that I loved. Coral...the final dress with the crown brought tears to my eyes, and like Chasity her collection was so personal, you could feel it. I'm happy for Shantall but we all expected it so no shock there. Four incredibly strong women...I salute all of them.
I have a soft spot for a lot of people this season and there are several I'm going to follow because I want to see what they do next. One of the nice things about these times is, even if you lose, you win if you have an Insta or a website where you can update people on the things you're working on. I know it's a different show but Esthar, Gary, and the South American designer from Next In Fashion are doing very well for themselves now. I think the goal now is for the exposure rather than the winning; there's a 14:1 odds on you losing so you might as well do the best you can, don't be an [censored], and people will come to you if they like your stuff.

I think Christian does a fabulous job on this show! And I hope that Karlie Kloss comes back to join him.
Loved the finale!
