I was so happy for Rami finally winning a challenge, particularly since I think he did think outside of the box with regard to what "peacocking" could mean. I liked that he thought about bridal as being a sort of peacocking for women and then adapting that idea for men in a very contemporary way. Although I didn't like Prajje's look, I'm also beyond tired of Laurence slipping by, sometimes even having a top look, despite not really meeting the challenge. I get that she's a really great tailor and has created some stunning pieces, but they are supposed to match their looks to a particular challenge, too, and as they all seemed to agree that there was nothing "peacocking" about her look at all, something she seemed to understand herself and didn't debate, it's maddening to me, at least, to see her get by with not meeting the challenge again. I fear she's being set up as a winner, when she just does her own thing and has even said at least once that she just didn't care if her look met the challenge or not. Because, of course, once they get to their individual collections, it's all about doing your own thing, and the judges all love Laurence's work with leather. Heck,I think a lot of it is cool, too, but to get to Fashion Week, you're supposed to play the game, whether a particular challenge plays to your strengths or not.
BTW, I also didn't get all the love for Brittany's look. I mean, I understood what she was going for, but I kept thinking upscale circus clown. Again, I got that it was well made, but yeesh...

I could see Billy Porter as a judge for this one. I thought he was included in the judges' list---or have we already seen him???
This should have been an easy challenge for L....use some bright colored leather...make one of her beautifully tailored suits or jumps suits and she would have won. That entry was a mess... she didn't even make a waist band for the pants.

I don't remember seeing Billy Porter, unless I missed an episode. And I love Billy Porter, so I'd think I'd remember him.
If Laurence had gone the way of her usual tailor suit/jumpsuit, I would still have liked to see her Peacock it out somehow, like Bishme tried to do with the hat (though that hat made me think more pimp-in-1970s-TV-crime-drama than cowboy, but Bishme's too young to have that reference right at hand). Otherwise, I think the judges might have asked how the design was more peacockish than anything else she'd already done. I will say I was stunned at what a beautiful smile Laurence has. She seemed to be a little less reserved and guarded in this episode. Maybe she's just more comfortable in the much smaller group. I understand why she tends to be guarded, but when she opened up a little, she seemed so much more relaxed, and I thought about how much energy it must take to keep your guard up that much, even when you think it's necessary.
I will miss Prajje, though. His repartee with both Bishme and Christian was fun to watch. I fear for Rami next week, as I think the judges would prefer a Bishme/Brittany/Laurence final, but I'd really like to see a full line from him, and I'd like for Christian's save of him to have some real meaning. But the judges have shown Bishme and Laurence a lot of love all season, and they were going on this week about how much Brittany has grown, and Rami's so calm this time out that he doesn't create much drama for the show. Not that the other three do either, really, but they might prefer to push a newer younger designer over Rami, unless someone really screws up and they can't ignore it (which is what happened this week as well, but Laurence was just lucky that Prajje screwed up, too).

It's honestly at the point that no matter who goes home, it's gonna suck. I liked all the looks shown tonight for different reasons but can understand why the judges voted the way they did. I was extremely partial to Bishme's look, but the hat pushed it over in Jim Carey's "The Mask" movie territory and made me laugh. Rami's look reminded me of something that someone who took a vow of silence would wear, and was very elegant to boot. Britney's look (while very nice and well-sewn) was a direct rip off Harry Style's Gucci ad campaign as well as what he wore when he went to the Met Ball that was...quite blatant, and it didn't surprise me that Brenden and the guest judge called her out about it. I love Laurence and Prajjie so this week sucked in particular but if I'm being honest with myself Prajjie at least tried? Yes, his suit was a mix of marching band and pimplicious, and according to some Voudoun devotees he probably angered the deity whose veve he used in his work because he used it for such a petty reason. With all that said, he thought about the assignment. Laurence did too and I loved the bulletproof vest, but she didn't push it the way Prajjie did and if I'm being fair here she should have went home. I'm glad she was saved because I love my little leather queen, but fair is fair. I have to say Prajjie made his leaving more of a celebration, and kudos to him.

Rami’s mother was gorgeous. I thought it was Elizabeth Taylor when they first showed the picture of her. How sad that she died so young and he probably doesn’t really remember her. It was nice to see him win. It was a beautiful look, though I agree with Elaine about there being some fit issues. I’m sad to see Prajje go, but I think it was the right call. His look just didn’t work. Laurence’s fell flat, too. It was basically a decision between way too much and totally underwhelming. EDITED TO ADD: I hadn’t read your post before writing mine, Kao. Your argument about Prajje making more of an effort to meet the challenge makes a lot of sense, and I tend to agree, though I, too, am partial to Laurence. The After Show was fun to watch. Christian clearly loves the verbal sparring with Prajje

I saw an article that included Billy Porter in the list of judges this season. I wonder if he was supposed to be on this episode, but dropped out. It would make sense for him to judge this challenge. I LOVE Colman and he's got amazing style, but he's not as over the top on the red carpet as Billy.
The judges all raved about Bishme's look, but all I could think was The Mask (the Jim Carrey movie) or Dick Tracy (the Ned Beatty movie). The judges are always harping on things being too costume-y, but that look was SO costume-y. IMO, there's a line between costume and "peacock."
They finally acknowledge that Brittany's look is "referential," which is just a nice way of saying "copied," but still keep her in.
I think Laurence and Bishme might have an edge, but Rami is my sentimental favorite.

From Brendan’s comment, it sounded like they had told Brittany multiple times that she was copying other designers. (It wasn’t clear whether that also included people on the show). I guess that past criticism just didn’t make the edit.

I am glad that you also mention Billy Porter being on the judges' list, Critical....I really thought he was the one who was going to be introduced.....this is certainly his wheelhouse.
I also thought of Jim Carrey when I saw the color of Bishme's suit as well as the hat. I remember that he had a chiffon scarf hanging from the baseball cap in the challenge he won but this train--as he called it-- was far less successful.
EDIT: I would be surprised that Brittany continued her "copying" if she had been warned before. This one look was so overtly similar to the Harry Style's look that I can't believe she would do that if she had already heard that it was an issue for the judges.
On the other hand, the only other time this was talked about was Prajje's criss- cross top that was pretty much just Prajje and Korto going on about it.

Not only that, even the visiting judge called her out about it as well. Harry was a Ball co-chair that year, and pictures of him in that outfit were everywhere. She's not as blatant as Kenley from Korto's original season was (because she does put her own spin on things) but you can "see" the inspiration.

I hope Coleman returns; he was a great judge. Bishme's look gave me such joy! I loved the color, loved that it made me think of an asparagus-as-pimp. Very fun. Like if the asparagus from Veggi-tales had a red carpet look.
I really loved Brittany's look, but now I know why. I saw it on Harry and loved it.
Happy to see Rami win, but I was 'meh' on the look.

I'll watch anything Colman does. He did a show on AMC+ during the shutdown called Bottomless Brunch With Colman where he Zoomed with friends and they had brunch, made drinks together and talked. It was charming. He's also got a travel show on AMC+ called You Are Here. I think he's so lovely and SO smart and an incredible dresser. When he was a guest on Talking Dead, he always knocked it out of the park with his clothes. I'm amazed he hasn't been a judge on this show before.
Yeah, Brittany's look was 100% Harry Styles. I think she's good at making clothes, but so much of what she designs is really derivative. I've thought for most of the season that I didn't really care who won and that they have nothing but great designers to choose from, but I'll be bummed if she wins over any of the remaining three designers. I think all of them are far more original than she is.
I liked Rami's look, but I would have preferred it in another color - it would have been stunning in a midnight blue. I get why he chose the cream, but it was too understated a color.

I would love to have seen it in a midnight blue. Or a hot pink?
Wow, I had no idea he had a show just drinking and talking. He is a very sexy man (enter bottomless brunch joke here). I love me a travel show, and would be interested to see You are Here. Thanks for the rec!
I'm not an athleisure fan, and anyone who loves Pelaton and loves to tell me about it, I know we might not have a lot in common. So her aesthetic isn't my favorite, and only when she copies other designs do I like her work.

We don't see the entire critique but I would say that based on Brendan's comments Britney has been talked to about being referential before. So much borrowing goes on in fashion but you have to be able to turn your look into something unique; otherwise it's just borrowing. I recognized that top from Harry's Met outfit (but in another color) and the pants are extremely similar to the ones he's wearing on the "Fine Lines" album cover, and I should not be able to look at her work and cite her sources like that. Hopefully she will do better next week.
