About The Show
I was following this show and it aired during the winter hiatus so was something to watch. It is basically a trashy soap opera loosely based on a YA (young adult) romance novel, thing Princess Diaries. Season one was very uneven with the princes love story with the commoner making you want to throw stuff at the couple through the TV screen. Elizabeth Hurley at the Queen mum is absolutely divine. Jake Maskall as Cyrus the overly ambitious younger brother to the King is so over the top evil and scheming his scenes are must watch TV. The show got better when in season 2 they ditched the Prince & Ophelia luv story. I am so glad that they are giving Princess Eleanor more to do as she was wasted as the party girl who gets drunk, and or high, and show off that she does not wear any underwear.
This is fun to watch to see Helena and Cyrus try to outmaneuver each other for power and position. It is a trashy, fun, over the top soap opera, like Dynasty and Dallas used to be at the height of their popularity. Joan Collins does several guest appearances as the Queen's mother. It improves over the seasons.
The Royals is an American prime time television soap opera[1] that premiered on E! on March 15, 2015. Created by Mark Schwahn and starring Elizabeth Hurley, it is the network's first scripted series. The show began as a loose adaptation of the Michelle Ray novel Falling for Hamlet.[2] E! renewed The Royals for a second season two months before its debut, and picked up a third season on January 5, 2016. E! renewed the series for a fourth season on February 16, 2017; the fourth season premiered on March 11, 2018.
Hurley stars as Queen Helena, a fictional contemporary queen consort of England, along with William Moseley and Alexandra Park as her twin children, Prince Liam and Princess Eleanor; Jake Maskall as Helena's brother-in-law and nemesis, the new King Cyrus; Tom Austen as Eleanor's bodyguard and blackmailer, Jasper Frost; and Oliver Milburn as Ted Pryce, the Royal Family's head of security. Season 1 also starred Vincent Regan as Helena's husband, King Simon, and Merritt Patterson as Liam's love interest, Ophelia Pryce.

About The Show
The Royals center around a family where power is everything, there are no limits and trust is nonexistent for the royal family featured in this drama series. Queen Helena and King Simon try to present an aura of class and grace to the public, but the truth of the family's life is much different, as tainted politics and family issues threaten to cause chaos and turmoil for the royals. The monarchs' rebellious daughter, Princess Eleanor, provides lots of fodder for the tabloids with a life full of activities that include sex, drugs, and even hung-over helicopter rides. Her twin brother, Prince Liam, is a playboy who takes full advantage of being one of the planet's most eligible bachelors. It's a life Liam enjoys until his older brother -- and heir to the throne -- dies, making Liam next in line to inherit the throne. With that distinction comes much scrutiny, putting a crimp in his womanizing ways. Trying to keep the family in check is its trusted security team, led by Ted Pryce, who aims to keep his personal life discrete.
