Two free books this month on Prime again...one I'm getting for sure, but can't decide on the second one. Why do they even have a "Book Club Fiction" category? Just call it fiction.

"Book Club Fiction" is such a stupid category and second only on my sh!t list to "Women's Fiction," which always reminds me of pink powers tools. It's just so condescending. I always wonder if "Men's Fiction" is just fiction or if it's books about war, sports and hunting (which would be just as condescending) Apparently, Amazon thinks book clubs read only one type of book and they're generally just fluffy nonsense. The book clubs I know read all genres of books, except for the type that Amazon puts in that category! This month, I picked Mothertrucker (I thought my dad would like it) and A Day Like This.

I don't know how long this offer will last, so jump on it! In honor of World Book Day, Amazon is giving away 10 different kindle books- all by international authors. They're in all different genres, and only one children's book. This isn't like the First Reads where you have to pick one - you can get all ten if you want them.

Nice! Thanks for the heads up, I didn't see this when I grabbed this month's freebie. Loading my Kindle up... The email I got about it didn’t come to the email account connected to my Amazon account. It came to me through my book business email account because I have a subscription to Publishers Weekly - I think it’s a partnership promotion. I don’t know if it’s being widely publicized. I just got lucky! I did already have a galley of The Puma Years, but I grabbed the other 8 books that were adult titles.

waywyrd - of course, the day after I posted this ^ an ad for that promotion was all over my FB feed Over the holidays, I finally goaded my mom into trying out one of my dad's old Paperwhites - it had a pinprick of light from a scratch, but was otherwise fine. She's always been SO resistant after reading a book years ago on one of our old Kindles - I think it was the Kindle Keyboard model - but I'd borrowed Rachel Lindsday's memoir and my mom wanted to read it. She ended up really liking the Paperwhite. I kept trying to tell her that the backlit screen was a totally different reading experience, but she had to see it to believe it. Now both my mom and my dad are reading ebooks from the library! There was a title recently that a friend had raved about and my mom asked me to order it for her. I looked on my Kindle account and there it already was as an egalley. Yay for saving money! I thought my dad's first Kindle (the one my mom is using now) was bad, but OOF, you should see the one we replaced at Christmas! It looks like someone ran over it on a gravel road! He doesn't have great vision, but I can't believe all those scratches and weird spots of light didn't bother him. With the new one, I made sure to put a screen protector on it before he got his hands on it! I just checked my Amazon account and this is my dad's THIRD Paperwhite since December, 2014. I, OTOH, have had the same one since March, 2014. I'm not even super precious about it. He is just really brutal with his, I guess.

I love my old Paperwhite, I've had it since early 2012. Dragged it along on various vacations, to work, and all over the Caribbean and it's still chugging along.

Same - if I go overnight anywhere, my Kindle goes with me and it still looks nearly new. If I'm just out running errands or need something to read on a break from a work event, I just use the Kindle app on my phone. My dad, OTOH, barely leaves the house and his 3 or 4 year-old Kindle looked like it had been run over on a gravel road! I don't know how he does it.

I knew my city's library has a huge digital collection, but I didn't know just HOW big. It's in the top 20 for digital circulation in the WORLD!

Thanks for the head's up! For some reason, that link isn't working - it took me to my homepage on Amazon.
Now I just have to choose ONE book out of that list. They all look good!
ETA: I just noticed that all of those books are available on Kindle Unlimited, so if you have that, you already have access to them. Leave it to Amazon to make something that's NOT a genuine freebie look like a freebie! Still, I might not have looked at any of these without that list, so I'm probably going to end up reading a few of them now.

Well I swear that link worked when I posted. I don't have Unlimited, I can barely keep up with what I have downloaded now!

I have Unlimited because I have my parents' Kindles on my account too. We all read A LOT. It's ended up being mostly worth the money.
