Even if I didn't like Klaus (and I did - much more on TO than VD, btw), my love of Elijah would FAR outweigh that. HE is the reason I tuned in. I actually preferred The Originals to VD. I also liked the New Orleans setting of TO and enjoyed the rest of the cast. The setting made it all much more evocative, especially the stuff with the witches. I never liked the character of Elena, which was sort of a problem as a viewer of VD, especially in those first six-ish seasons After that (heck, before that), the show kind of fizzled anyway. I thought TO stayed strong for its whole run and ended at the right time. Anyway, different strokes. There were a lot of things you wouldn't know you'd missed if you didn't see it. You definitely can watch Legacies without seeing either of the other two series, but I still think watching the "parent" series makes watching this one even more enjoyable.
I love seeing Matthew Davis take more of a leading role on this series. I always wanted to see more of Alaric. I think the young actors on the show have improved since the start of the series too. The girl who plays Hope is particularly terrific. That scene with Hope and Alaric at the end of the last episode had me in tears. They have really good chemistry.

I swoon for Elijah but I love Klaus. I fell off after TO took a year break so I'm excited to finally get back in then tune into Legacies. I'd rather go in order if it has connections. It's one of the two shows I regret bailing on. I keep promising myself I will get back to Supernatural. Thanks!!

Elijah was good. Absolutely agreed about Hope and Alaric. But I am really glad the other young actors have improved this year. It was very painful watching Shadowhunters on Freeform when only one or two of the young actors improved and the others were simply meh!

Season 2 Episode 3 - "You Remind Me of Someone I Used to Know" - October 24, 2019
Liked the football game.
Wow, Josie being mean could be very dangerous. I can predict the big matchup between her and Hope.
I liked the cyclops from last episode and the werewolf killer from this one and hoped they wouldn't kill them.

Liked that MG found out about Sebastian.
Kinda fun Duck, Duck Goose story.

Season 2, Episode 5 - "Screw Endgame" - November 14, 2019
I liked that Lizzie remembered Hope. The actor's level of talent shows in this episode and I wish it would show more often instead of her being a witless girl on the hunt for a boyfriend.
Josie a little cringe worthy pushing the lets have sex with Landon.
Landon a virgin! Oh, my. Luv'ed the references to Risky Business in his plotline.
Luv'ed the Indiana Jones costume Principal Saltzman was wearing. Groowwl.
What's not to luv about two girls trapped in labyrinth disguised as a 80's video game.

Season 2 Episode 7 - "It Will All Be Painfully Clear Soon Enough" - December 5, 2019 Vardemus is Clarke. Someone had fun with this shapeshifting character. Too bad Vardemus was not around longer, I enjoyed the evil headmaster.

Season 2 Episode 8 - "This Christmas Was Surprisingly Violent" - December 12, 2019
Absolutely brilliant. Luv'ed the whole Santa knock down fight with Krampus. Luv'ed the entire school getting into the Christmas spirit. Very well done.
All season 1 I complained how useless and terrible the Saltzman Twins were. Well, this franchise has done it again. Lizzie just turned brilliant. Josie is not quiet there but I am sure it will happen.
Same thing with Landon's character and how he interacted with Josie and Hope. I used to cringe and now it is so watchable. Wish they could do the same with Charmed.
Hope and Clarke play off each other very well also.

Season 2 Episode 9 - "I Couldn't Have Done This Without You" - January 16, 2020
I wasn't sure that I really wanted to watch the back half of the season with The Necromancer as the big bad but I finally got myself to watch the episode and it is not that bad a backstory. The Witcher series on Netflix should take note on how well this episode lets the audience know where in the timeline their are.
I hope Chad (The Necromancer's friend, roommate, and now dead acolyte) gets his revenge on The Necromancer.
Liked the book Professor Saltzman was reading about the marauding band of pirate vampires and Sebastian the Merciless.

Season 2 Episode 10 - "This Is Why We Don't Entrust Plans to Muppet Babies" - January 23, 2020
But Alyssa you agreed to have a memory wipe after burning Lizzie and her having to be in the hospital so why all revengy now?
Wade the fairy saved the day. Yeah!
I like how Landon is trying to learn to defend himself. Not everyone has offensive magical powers, not everyone had strong defensive powers. Small powers used well get overlooked and underestimated all the time.

Season 2 Episode 11 - "What Cupid Problem?" - January 30, 2020
I like seeing the nerdier side of the Super Squad, Wade, Landon, Pedro, and Drusilla try to contain the escaped Cupid. I do hope the folks seen as less powerful explore all aspects of their power and get self esteem and show how powerful they can be.
I think the writers are having way too much fun showing Kaleb slide his red corvette into a parking spot and then wait, wait, wait, for the rest of the team to show up on foot powered scooters.
Hey, Landon rescued Hope this time. I "hope" she doesn't forget that.

Season 2 Episode 12 - "Kai Parker Screwed Us" - February 6, 2020
I am so glad to see Josie not trusting everyone and everything.
I liked that this episode was a bit twisty and turny and not quite what you would think would happen. The girls are too eager to believe total strangers saying their father is a liar and not to be trusted.

Season 2 Episode 13 - "You Can't Save Them All" - February 13, 2020
Nicely done, Dark Josie gets them out of the prison world, Sebastian saves Alaric, Landon gets his wings, and Raf is back, but is it just another part of The Necromancer's many plans?

Season 2 Episode 14 - "There's a Place Where the Lost Things Go" - March 12, 2020
I always like when the characters have an episode where they play different characters. This was so much fun. Milton (MG) plays a detective and it was a bit of a stretch as it was hard to take him as an adult but he tried. Both Hope and Lizzie can play hard party girl, young adult very well. Josie had a blast playing the evil female villain. Rafe discovers something.

Season 2 Episode 15 - "Life Was So Much Easier When I Only Cared About Myself" - March 19, 2020
Fun, shocks, twists, didn't see that coming at all.
The players are coming out. Hope thinks she can handle it all by herself and that really doesn't work. Luv the MG and Lizzie scenes. Josie is over the top fun/evil. The Necromancer really thinks he will be able to control her? Ha! Final scene was shocking. Kinda expected it but didn't think it would happen. Can't wait for the season finale next week.

Season 2 Episode 16 - "Facing Darkness is Kinda My Thing" - March 26, 2020
Season finale: Tied up the Lizzie and Josie plot although they still will probably have to face the merge when they are 22 which is still 5 years away. Both girls have grown and matured and I don't dislike them anymore.
The Necromancer is gone for now. What happened to poor Chad? I mean Hope got back Alyssa and Rafael and the other zombie puppet but what about Chad?
While much was answered and there was a cliffhanger I was OK where the show left off.
It has been renewed for a third season.

The pandemic has given me lots of netflix time and since March I have watched VD, TO and Legacies in their entirety. TO was hot and cold for me, I love New Orleans and love the scenery. But season 3 of TO almost made me give it up for good. I think seasons 1 and 5 are they best. Seasons 4 and 2 are ok, but 3...
VD seemed tedious as the Elena show, once she was gone I really liked how the other characters rose to the occasion.
I didn't have high hopes for Legacies, but I was pleasantly surprised. Ready for season 3!

They are world building, introducing characters and evil bads. the difference between season 1 and 2 of the shows is amazing. Glad you found Legacies.

Season 3 Episode 1 - "We're Not Worthy"- January 21, 2021
The Lady of the Lake and the Green Knight appear and of course Excalibur.
You have to be royalty to be worthy???
It was fun to see The Necromancer be frustrated and unable to be The Necromancer.
Nice to see the show not focus on Hope but instead on the other characters.

Season 3 Episode 2 - "Goodbyes Sure Do Suck" - January 28, 2021 I was surprised they said good bye to Raf this early in the season.
Lizzie is also left last episode, going to Paris to be with her mother and to get over being EVIL.
What about Landon, will he leave now that he is not a phoenix (or is he really??).
Forgot, Chad, the Necromancer's assistant is now really dead.
This shake up is an opportunity to introduce new characters and storylines.

Season 3 Episode 3 - "Salvatore: The Musical!" - February 4, 2021 This was better than I thought it would be. If you don't know anything about the Vampire Diaries it may be hard to follow as the musical just hits highlights of the series. The main characters all have solos and there is the underlying plotting by the Necromancer and Alyssa.
One thing I must say is that Alyssa is so hung up on her revenge and both she and the Necromancer heard what they wanted to hear from the Sphinx's prophecy. The trouble with prophecy is that is does not always go the way you think or want it to go, it can be open to various interpretations.
Robin Goodfellow was a great character and the actor who played him did a wonderful job.

Well this episode was supposed to be the season 2 finale but got bumped because of COVID.
Well, it feels more like a season finale.
I do like when the characters do grow and change. It was nice to see Hope and Landon get together but even better to see MG have a happy ending as well as Professor Saltzman.

Season 3 Episode 5 - "This Is What It Takes" - February 18, 2021 This was supposed to be the season 3 premiere. I am so confused with the beginning of this episode and it was never explained during the episode. Hope enters the gates of the Salvatore School and walks to the pool where everyone is celebrating the defeat of the Necromancer from the previous episode. Hope bumps into Lizzie Saltzman and BAM no one remembers Hope? What happened??? This makes no sense. This is a repeat of what happened last season when Hope cast a spell for people to forget (I think). But a repeat??? Again confusing. Especially with storylines continuing from the previous season such as Josie touring the Mystic Falls High School. Another wacky thing was Alyssa Chang being with Jed instead of MG, another confusing moment. tvline.com/2021/02/18/legacies-recap-season-3-episode-5-hope-landon-death/Alyssa cheating on MG when she and MG just got together does not make any sense considering she has had a huge crush on MG like forever.

Season 3 Episode 6 - "To Whom It May Concern" - March 11, 2021
So after a 3 week break the show is back.
Well they aired an ad for the new Kung Fu tv series staring the actress who played Alyssa. I still don't like how they exited Alyssa's character from the show. Any girl who has a long held crush on a boy and that boy suddenly see her and wants her is not going to cheat on him just like that.
Anyway having the parents not have their darlings return to school because it is too dangerous gives the writers a chance to bring in some new characters. Also MG gets a chance to grow and develop as does Josie.
Landon and the Necromancer were good together. Nice to see beating up the Necromancer was the key to freeing Landon as that is not something he would normally do (the curse on the chains). Nice to see that just because Landon and the Necromancer figured the way out doesn't mean it was going to be that easy. Malivore is a devious soul creating his punishment for the Necromancer. I do like that Landon is not sitting on his butt waiting to be saved. The writers do tend to treat him as the damsel in distress.

Season 3 Episode 7 - "Yup, It's a Leprechaun, All Right" - March 18, 2021 The writers do know how to take ordinary things and add a bit of magic and make it a crazy fundraising event and without special effects.
Hope still is bit of a downer, girl it is not all about you.
Luv the Doctor Saltzman potential reverse sexual harassment by the female bank loan officer.

Season 3 Episode 8 - "Long Time, No See" - March 25, 2021 Amazing performance by Quincy Fouse as MG who really is stepping out of his nerd/dweeb character and is showing growth and common sense. However being the voice of reason around Hope Mikaelson is a loosing proposition. I truly wish someone would smack that girl in the face with a cream pie.
The CW has done a remarkable job in its series where a secondary, dweeby character grows into the best character on the series.
