My grocery just had a deal on tortellini...buy 2 get 3 free so I'm thinking tortellini salad and turkey sandwiches on cranberry bread. Thanks for the idea!

Going over to my parents for dinner...she is making pozole rojo..perfect for this rainy day!
(In case you are wondering what that is: Pozole, which means "hominy", is a traditional soup or stew from Mexico. It is made from hominy, with meat, and can be seasoned and garnished with shredded cabbage, chile peppers, onion, garlic, radishes, avocado, salsa or limes.)

It can be so complicated most only cook it once a week - say for Sunday dinner. That's all I know - but it looks yummy on TV.

How much is penne and how much is vodka? LOL, Ariel! Hiccup...actually the recipe calls for 1 pound of penne and 1/2 cup of vodka. One time I did not cook long enough and there was a strong boozy taste but about 8 min at medium heat cooks out the vodka.

The temp is only in the 50's here so I'll probably mess it up, but I'm making my first ever homemade chicken pot pie. I'm using Paula Dean's recipe because that lady is notorious for not holding back on using real butter and lots of heavy cream. .... and in a related note, see the Koffee Klatch thread for a continuance....

Saw your KK thread and hope you feel better. Stay away from salt for awhile. I have never made any of Paula Deen's recipe but do make chicken pot pie using a bit of butter and flour but no heavy cream. I use the Betty Crocker recipe; it is pretty simple. Enjoy!
