Has anyone subscribed to any of these services like Blue Apron or Home Chef? I have a friend who gets one of those two (can't remember which one) and LOVES it.
I did a week subscription to a service called Gobble this week and the meals were delivered yesterday. I got a nice introductory deal, so it was only around $35 for six meals (3 meals for 2). Each week, they have different meals available and they run the gamut from full carnivore to vegan. You can choose the ones you want. I chose a fish meal, a chicken meal and a pork meal, all different types of cuisines.
Tonight I had my first meal and it was amazing. It was a nice big piece of pan-roasted barramundi (a type of sea bass) with roasted potatoes, sauteed spinach (with a nice garlic and shallot puree) and then a caper and buerre blanc sauce for the fish and spinach. Everything was portioned out and pre-mixed. The capers and puree were in little plastic containers that I will wash out and keep. Only the buerre blanc was in a plastic bag. The potatoes were mostly cooked, so I just popped them in the oven to roast for around 10 minutes.
Most importantly, it was really good! The other two meals I got were Moroccan chicken with apricot and almond couscous and a spicy Korean pork bowl with broccoli and carrots.
Oh, they also added in a little treat of two chocolate chip cookies. It was two balls of frozen dough that just needed to be baked up. They were delicious!
I did have to cancel, because I can't swing nearly $80 for 6 meals, but it was fun to try the service! If (WHEN!) I have a bigger budget, I'd definitely consider subscribing again to Gobble or another service.
Has anyone tried any of these services? Reviews?

I've been curious about them but never tried partially because we don't have any mail delivered to our house (we use a mailbox service) and sometimes it's a day between when the mail gets to the office and when its ready for pickup.

So will Fed Ex and UPS deliver to the mailbox too? I know, from working in mail order for a number of years, that some shippers will ONLY deliver to a physical address. Sometimes it's not a traditional number/street address, but there's always something. So do they do some kind off processing with the mail before you're able to get it? I wonder if they'd make an exception in the case of perishables. You can definitely track the package, so you'd know when it gets there. Is it possible for you to go and ask for them to retrieve it? I have no experience with those sorts of service, so I just have no idea.
The ones that I received were packed well and kept cold, but I pulled them off the porch pretty quickly. I don't know how they'd fare after a day.
I enjoyed the meal service, but the regular price was more than my budget will allow. I knew I was only doing it to try it because the discount was really good. Plus, frankly I could make better meals than the ones they sent. Some of the meals had elements that just didn't work with a short cooking time, which is sort of the selling point for a lot of those meal kits. That being said, I've only tried the one company. I know people who swear by Blue Apron or one of the other more popular ones. If I was dealing with a bigger budget, I might try one of them.

Yup, Fed Ex and UPS both deliver to the mail drop. It's like a regular street address (with the box number used as the unit number) but is manned with people who hold your packages for you, packages and ships mail and packages, and preforms small business duties like faxing, shredding, printing, notary services, etc. When you get a package they email yoou, and then you go and pick it up. It's worked well for years but recently they've hired some folks that just aren't as on the ball as other people have been about processing the packages. You will get notification from the vendor that a package has been delivered, but get the email from the store anywhere from 24-48 hours afterwards.
It seems like they've fired a bunch of people and we're getting our packages on time again, but I don't know if I want to chance getting food there.

I use Home Chef and it cost 45-65 dollars per week for 6 meals. I no longer grocery shop, and just get any drinks during my monthly Target shopping.

I've been trying a new box food delivery, called Factor_ where the food is already prepared (no chopping, sauteeing, etc.), and it's really good! Of course, it's pricey because they all are, but I got a deal to start off, and have liked it enough to keep going for a few weeks. There are enough options to choose from, different meal plans like vegan, keto, etc., and the box comes very well packaged! The dinners look like a frozen dinner, but they're fresh, never frozen, and delicious! The portions are good, too, and you can choose to upgrade to a more expensive dinner like a filet mignon, etc. if you feel like it. I've really enjoyed having a variety of foods ready for me to eat, and even though it costs quite a bit, I figure if I were going to buy all the different ingredients to make these dishes, I'd be spending a lot too. But living alone, if I make a pork tenderloin for example, I'm having that over and over, for more than one day, and this way I can have a variety of things to eat all week. I like not having to wonder, what am I going to make tonight? So, I'm spoiling myself this summer. They have promotions, so I sent a free box to my mom because she lives alone too and can't get out to grocery shop - she had to pay shipping ($10-$11?) but that's it, she got six meals, then she's cancelling. They give me several free boxes to give away, in order to get more subscribers of course, but it's a good way to try it out and see if you like it. If anyone wants to, let me know, but if not that's okay too. It was worth it to me to give it a try, and I'd never heard of it before so I thought I'd share the info!
