Apple goes big on premium services: Apple TV+ streaming, News+, Arcade and new credit cardwww.usatoday.com/story/tech/2019/03/25/apple-event-unveils-new-premium-news-and-streaming-services/3249329002/ Tim Cook hopes there’s no business like show business.
And with the backing of Hollywood A-listers Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Steve Carrell, Reese Witherspoon, Jason Momoa, J.J. Abrams, Sarah Bareilles, Alfre Woodard, Kumail Nanjiani, Jennifer Aniston, even Big Bird--each appeared on the Steve Jobs Theater stage and will do their part to contribute original content – Apple’s CEO on Monday announced Apple TV+, a long-rumored ad-free, on-demand entertainment streaming service.
Apple TV+ will launch in the fall and be part of a revamped Apple TV app.
In broad strokes, the new service would appear to pit Apple' against the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu.
Apple didn't spell out pricing for Apple TV+. You'll have the option, apparently, to pay for premium channels you don't currently subscribe to (with Apple presumably getting an undisclosed cut).
Meantime, the revamped Apple TV app will turn up in May, via the Apple TV set-top box and on your iPhone and iPad. The app will come to Macs in the fall.
And Apple also announced that it will be made available on smart TVs from Samsung, LG, Sony and Vizio, and even on the boxes that compete with Apple TV hardware, notably Fire TV and Roku.
"We love TV," Cook said on stage.

The Morning Show series Apple TV- An inside look at the people who help Americans wake up each day, exploring the challenges faced by the people who work in morning television. I loved all these actors and they all did fantastic. My negatives are the amount of cursing and temper tantrums that became overplayed. I think they could had cut this down to 8 episodes to help keep the tension. All in all, I liked it and I'm in for season 2! Dickinson series Apple TV - Emily Dickinson modern day 19th century story. You should know this is not your standard accurate period piece. It's a silly dramatic tale. It had be laugh but mostly because of how absurd it was.

Since I just upgraded my iPhone, I got an offer for a free year of AppleTV+. Who knew? I just started a few trial of CBS All Access and am going to watch everything on there that I want to watch and then I'll cancel. I have three months to take advantage of the AppleTV+ offer. Any suggestions on what to watch?
I definitely want to watch See and will probably check out The Morning Show in spite of the less-than-great reviews. Going to give Dickinson a hard pass.

Any suggestions on what to watch? I couldn't get into See but friends of mine liked it. I would check out Truth be Told, For all Mankind and Servant.

Servant series, Executive produced by M. Night Shyamalan – After the death of their 13-week-old son, a couple hire a nanny to take care of Jericho, a reborn doll/fake baby. It was great! Thrilling, intense and kept you guessing all the way through. There was a couple of moments where it left the gas but it never made me take my eyes off the screen.
Truth be Told series - The murder case that propelled a true-crime podcaster to fame comes back to haunt her when new evidence arises that suggests her original suspect may have been wrongfully convicted. I liked it overall and think it's definitely worth the watch if you like crime drama. I just found it annoying and lazy on the writers part how the podcaster (Octavia Spencer) had a different suspect each episode. She was always 100% sure and hell bent on taking them down causing a ruckus. I know most shows eliminate suspects of who may or may not have played a role in a murder but it just felt too obvious.

Did anyone get to see THE MORNING SHOW? I am really enjoying it. It's pretty intense. Shades of Matt Lauer. That business is so cut throat. I could NEVER handle that stress. _______________________________ I really want to see SERVANT!!! Thanks Girly18 for the review!!!

I watched and absolutely loved Home Before Dark. I thought the mystery element was compelling, but I also loved the family at the center of the series. I love the kids and the parents and how sweet they are to each other, but not in a saccharine, unrealistic way. They still got into little spats like real life. I think Brooklynn Prince is a star. I can't wait for season two!

I like the cast of that one, but even the previews freaked me out. I think I'll have to pass on it.
I am looking forward to Trying, which premieres on May 1st.

Oh Critical I do nothing thriller or horror but this is so mild. Seriously, watch one epi and you will see. M. Night's exact words were " this is about a Philadelphia family, a very weird Philly family."
TRYING looks great!!! apple-tv-plus-press.apple.com/en-US/news/2020/01/apple-announces-new-comedy-series-trying-to-premiere-may-1/

I'm planning to watch, but I thought the book was just okay, perhaps because everyone kept raving about it. I think I expected it to be better than it was. I may wait until ALL of the episodes are available. I'm definitely happy to see Chris Evans doing some actual acting again, instead of superhero nonsense. I mean, I thought those movies were okay, but Masterpiece Theater they are not.

If I am not mistaken, I think I read a while ago that CE wanted to step away from CA (that this was before we even heard about EndGame) because he just did not want to be pigeonholed with CA. While I loved him as CA, I love him now without his shield as he finds so many other roles he can play. I hope you enjoy this series. The filming was all in suburbs of Boston, my hometown.

Tonight we started " TRUTH BE TOLD". Another APPLE TV original series and its very good. Great casting, with Octavia Spencer and Aaron Paul. www.imdb.com/title/tt7821582/ True crime podcaster Poppy Parnell (OS) is called to investigate the case of convicted killer Warren Cave, (AP) a man she incriminated after he murdered the father of two identical twins.
Soon, Parnell must decide where the lines between guilty and innocent lie when Cave confesses to the fact that he was framed for the crime.

This is a really basic question - I loved Defending Jacob and consider it one of my favorite books (not in the top 5, but in the top 25). So this being on Apple TV+ is enough to make me subscribe. If I don't want to watch the whole thing on my iPad, what are my options for viewing Apple TV+ on my TV?

I feel the acting is awesome. Even the young man that is playing Jacob is awesome. If you have to pay, wait like Critical is going to do and watch DJ when the entire season has dropped. www.imdb.com/title/tt2304589/ 8.6 on IMDb *As far as viewing, in JAN we bought at Costco a Samsung 4K Smart tv (65 inch) was $450.00 We could not resist that price. It came with Apple tv.

acookertv I’m watching on my Roku. I got a new iPhone in January and it came with a free year of Apple TV. IIRC, it’s only $4.99 per month. If they don’t offer a free trial, you could wait until all the episodes are available and watch everything you want within one month. There are several good series available.

Have you watched Home Before Dark yet? If not, watch it! SO GOOD!

I’m half way through The Morning Show now. I like it enough to keep watching, but there are so many things about it that annoy me. The biggest of those are all the emotional musical interludes. Every damn episode! For a while it was just the way they ended each episode. But now it’s a few each episode. It’s lazy writing!

I recently got an email saying my free membership (from buying a macbook pro) has been extended until July. I guess because they have a lot more shows now and it has a chance of catching on? I'm gonna watch Snoopy, Servant, and this really cool Irish animated movie.

I started watching The Morning Show. I binged season 1 a while back, and I'm caught up with season 2 so far.
For me, it started out as an interesting parody of TV network and morning news show behind-the-scenes drama, but in season 2 it's just devolved into soap opera with great production values. They just keep piling problem after problem on all the characters, to the point where it's just silly to believe that any of them still have their jobs on the show.
But I'll still keep watching because the cast is amazing, especially with the addition of Julianna Margulies.

But I'll still keep watching because the cast is amazing, especially with the addition of Julianna Margulies. That's why I'm still watching. Even though I think Billy Crudup is a creep IRL, he's incredible on this show. I have to separate the two. I'm enjoying the Italy storyline with Steve Carrell and Valeria Golino. Haven't seen her in anything in years. I always liked her. I do like that they don't let anyone off the hook for their behavior and none of them is a straight-up archetype. The sense of frustration I feel over how they're all dismissing Daniel's Covid reporting and shoving his stories off to the side because they don't think it's that big of a deal is through the roof!
I'm still watching Truth Be Told, which is "meh." The first seasons storyline was much more compelling and, frankly, Aaron Paul is just a better actor than Kate Hudson, as far as an antagonist and foil for Octavia Spencer.

Oh The Morning Show....S2.....hmmm. Honestly, I am a little underwhelmed with S2. But like all you TMS viewers I will keep watching as I love the whole cast. Critical, I totally AGREE with you on Daniel. What the what. And as far as Valerie that last time I saw her was on RAIN MAN!!! I bet she does most of her acting in Italy.
