Season 5 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)The season was ordered in May 2017. Alongside Clark Gregg, who reprises his role as Coulson from the film series, principal cast members Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, and Henry Simmons return from previous seasons, while Natalia Cordova-Buckley is promoted to the principal cast after appearing in a recurring role since season three. Due to its broadcast schedule, the season was split into two "pods", the first of which saw the S.H.I.E.L.D. team transported to deep space in the future. The fifth season began airing on December 1, 2017, and is set to run for 22 episodes.

Season 5 Episode 3 "A Life Spent" - December 8, 2017 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)Daisy's know it all attitude still continues to annoy and lands her in well deserved trouble. Coulson, May, Mac, and Yo Yo are playing smart and getting the lay of the land like good intelligence agents should. Are there folks on the surface of the Earth of hidden elsewhere? Inhumans can't seem to get away from them but at least on this series the show runners do a good job showcasing them and their abilities. FYI:

Season 5 Episode 4 "A Life Earned" - December 15, 2017 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)I rewatched episodes 1, 2, and 3 earlier in the week so it was a smooth transition to episode 4. I am liking the story so far but I wonder why none of the team really gives Deke a chance to explain the history and political situation of the place. The team can't impose it's knowledge/experience of how things worked on Earth when they lived there as that does not exist at this moment and the humans they are dealing with were raised in a totally foreign methodology and history. Still I do like that the story is going forward at at good speed and is not wallowing in circles. Nice to have characters who don't get with the program or don't really understand what is going on in regards to the new Inhuman that reads minds. Liked the fight between May and killer Kree lady. Looking forward to next week and to see what Fitz does.

Season 5 Episode 5 "Rewind" - December 22, 2017 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)Nice to see what happened to Fitz. Great to see Lance again. Great to see a genuine hug between men versus the kinda fake bro hug. Luv'ed the Star Wars reference from Lance to Fitz right before he was frozen. I think there might be an underlying plot with the female commander attempting to gather Robyn as a asset. I would not be surprised if various military factions are gathering Inhumans as weapons and that is what tears the world apart. Luv the Man in Black - Enoch. Per Google: Enoch means That applies as he is basically a trained observer/anthropologist and has been on Earth for 30,000 yrs. That is dedication.

Season 5 Episode 6 - "Fun & Games" - January 5, 2018 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)Clark Gregg/Agent Coulson directed this episode. Nice to see Fitz in the future playing a bad guy. To be honest he was more menacing in the Framework. Nice fight scenes. Fitz talking to Jemma and pouring out his heart while she didn't even know he was there and also could not hear him was funny as was the running marriage proposal. OMG, Jemma cut Kasius's throat. I thought maybe someone was spying on the team since that scene with them talking to Flint was taken from one of the upper walkways.

Season 5 Episode 7 - "Together or Not at All" - January 12, 2018 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)I like how they will have a running gag/plot through out the episode in this case Fitz and Simmons marriage proposals to each other. Mack, Yo Yo and Flint an interesting little family group. The Aha Moment - meeting Robin the Seer (now much older) and her carved robin. Luv the Sinara - Kasius partnership, lots of layers and much is conveyed by Sinara's body movement, and eyes and very little dialog.

Season 5 Episode 8 - "The Last Day" - January 19, 2018 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)Interesting, some recaps are suggesting a time loop, I am not sure maybe two time lines. Although everyone seems to blame Daisy/Quake for the Earth being destroyed maybe it was Flint as his is an earth based power, or maybe the solar system simply drifted into an area of space full of gravity storms? I am wondering if Deke is Fritz and Jemma's grandson???

Season 5 Episode 9 - "Best Laid Plans" - January 26, 2018 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)) Some really cool plot twists and just fun scenes. Tess being resurrected and looking pretty wrecked by it. The standoff with Elena, Flint, Mack, Kasius and Kree was fun. Luv it when they use a bad guy's monologue against him. Creepy and a big hint that Kasius knows Elena and was prepared for her speed. Hint: That Was A Big Clue! Nice battle between Daisy and Sinara but I felt it was a little too easy for Daisy to impale her.

Season 5 Episode 10 - "Past Life" - February 2, 2018 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)Absolutely horrific; all the scenes between Elena Now and Elena Trapped. You have to be so careful with prophecies and time loops as trying to avoid what happens usually results in that happening. I do luv all the little plot weaving in these stories, like removing that silence silver from the one human retainer and you are going aaah how nice to Jemma using it to help defeat Kasius. Funny to see how shocked Jemma is with Fitz's wire trap yet she is the one to have Flint smash the windows in Kasius's quarters killing all the guards. I will not be surprised if Deke somehow escapes/survives. It will be interesting to see what happens next. Will be back March 2, 2018.

Season 5 Episode 11 - "All the Comforts of Home" - March 2, 2018 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)Interesting episode, do wish they had some down time before saving the world again. Luv'ed the look May gave Mack when they got back. Those little details just make this show. Can't believe what happened to Yo Yo, I just assumed Cassias had tortured her and we had seen her intact in a future flashback scene when she went to confront Cassias. Was there no time to recover her arms? Earth is hard on Chronicom's, hope Noah survives. I think Robbie/Ghost Rider will appear, it will be interesting to see how the scifi and paranormal aspects of this potential plotline will resolve itself. The writers certainly like to mess with us in regards to Hale's relationship with her daughter.

Season 5 Episode 12 - "The Real Deal" - March 9, 2018 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)I wish folks who write these wiki summaries would be more careful in what they say. We know that Deke is Gemma and Fitz's grandson. All General Hale knows is that he has DNA from both Fitz and Simmons and is maybe a LMD - life model decoy. Interesting theory that it might be the explosion destroying the 3 monoliths that is the beginning of the world breaking not Daisy/Quake. Like that Coulson sent out Deke on a shopping trip for Gemma's and Fitz's wedding and to contact other SHIELD agents. Why does everyone leave the barred door to the secret to the tunnel that leads to the lighthouse open? Shut it.

Season 5 Episode 14 - "The Devil Complex" - March 23, 2018 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)I really wish the people who write these wiki summaries would actually pay attention to the story. It is very obvious that Hale has a uneasy alliance with an alien probably a Kree (the odium is a big hint) as is the preview of a big alien space ship, this person is not necessarily her superior but a potential ally in a greater scheme. Luv'ed the scene between Deke and Jemma. Overall a kinda difficult episode with several folks at various critical stages in their storylines. I do wonder if this storyline is an introduction to Avengers: Infinity War?

Season 5 Episode 15 - "Rise and Shine" - March 30, 2018 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)What I really liked about this episode and what this series does so well is put together all the pieces we have been seeing since the season started and not quite sure what they are or what events are about or leading to. I find it hilarious that while General Hale believes in aliens and has the technology to communicate with them, and wants to create a super empowered human, she thinks time travel is a story Phil Coulson made up so he won't cooperate. Ruby vs Daisy ... Destroyer of Worlds ... one stable, one not ... one jealous, one doesn't even know the other exists. Fitz doesn't like Deke ... ha ha

Jemma and Yo Yo working together. The gun going off ... whoo hoo theories of invincibility. Luv'ed it when Jemma told Fitz about Deke being his grandson. Deke facing grandpappy, priceless. Creel, Coulson and Talbot too funny. Luv'ed, luv'ed the Raina flashback. Luv this show

Season 5 Episode 17 - "The Honeymoon" - April 13, 2018 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)Lots and lots of stuff happening, loose ends being tied up. I do wonder what powers Ruby will end up having? Season 5 Episode 18 - "All Roads Lead..." - April 20, 2018 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)Very, very good episode, tight, intense, deep, lots and lots of details, plots lines, and simply delicious to watch. Fitz and Simmons so good together. Deke, Mack and Coulson hysterical when they discuss relationships and Deke being in love with Daisy. I gotta go with Yo Yo on the killing of Ruby, I don't think Hale or Daisy would have been able to talk her down or if they did how would they contain her. But I get the episode title, no matter what the team did all paths lead to the same crisis point.

Season 5 Episode 19 - "Option Two" - April 27, 2018 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)I luv this show, you can feel the tension, the coming together of all the loose threads towards a hopefully epic confrontation with alien scavengers. The big question in all of this is who really is "The Destroyer of Worlds"? I did't think it was Daisy but she sure got the blame for it. Ruby was a possibility and we all were waiting for the big end of season fight between good and bad and with one slice of a chakham blade it is over. I don't blame Yo Yo for one second for what she did and I really wanted someone to knock Daisy off her high horse about saving her. Ruby was not stable in the first place, barely controllable, cut off Yo Yo's arms for fun. So if Yo Yo cuts her throat, so be it. Why is is OK to kill someone at times in this agency and others people go WHOA! Then we have not stable General Talbot who gravitonium's himself and saves the day by "fixing it". Luv Fitz telling Deke not to call him gramps. Well should Deke call Fitz "grumps" or "grumpy" instead? Jiaying - Daisy's mom's name - a person and not a place and part of the healing component of the centipede mechanism. Luv'ed the little hint of the Avengers: Infinity War when Candyman asked Daisy if she was watching what was going on in New York. Three episodes left with the Season 5 finale on May 18, 2018

Season 5 Episode 20 - "The One Who Will Save Us All" - May 4, 2018 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)General Talbot has always been a bit of a stereotypical joke figure in the SHIELD series but this episode really allows Adrian Pasdar to show his range with this character who has been shot in the head, brainwashed by HYDRA, and now is full of gravitonium and other people and is still trying to save the world. Nice tie in with the activities happening in Avengers: Infinity War. I do hate how Daisy thinks she is the only one who is right and while she can cross the line, I do believe she killed her own mother, no one else can. A flexible morality can make a person hard to put up with. I do not like how Daisy and May are treating Yo Yo now that she has a mind of her own and not blindly following their orders. There is also a similar situation with Fitz and Mack.

Season 5 Episode 21 - "The Force of Gravity" - May 11, 2018 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)Someone, I think it was in the TV Guide that it would be nice if ABC ever supported Agents of SHIELD as much as it did promoting Avengers Infinity War on Jimmy Kimmel. I have to agree this is a great show, great writing, great character development, and it just does not seem to get the recognition it deserves. Same with Agent Carter. General Glenn Talbot, started off as a caricature of the patriotic soldier and has transformed unbelievably over the seasons. It looks as if he is the one to crack the world. It was fun to watch May and Deke work together to save the Lighthouse and trick the alien overlord.

Season 5 Episode 22 - "The End" - May 18, 2018 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agents_of_S.H.I.E.L.D._(season_5)Wow, simply Wow! What an impactful season and potentially series finale. So much emotion. So much gut wrenching. Just so much. So many threads tied up, so many left dangling, but that's OK as that is life just a bit messy. Daisy and the team defeat Talbot, and save the world from being destroyed. It was neat how Talbot was going to absorb her powers to help him crack the world open. Note how all the citizens of River's End were evacuated to the Lighthouse. Luv'ed the cell phone calls and how everyone was glad to see them come save the day. Luv'ed the tribute to all the heroes. Surprised that the In Remembrance tablet was not for Fitz but for Phil. Shocked to see Mack being made the new Director not Daisy. Good call. Phil back to Tahiti and the team off to find Fitz in other space, time lines are spooky things. The entire episode was so satisfying and moving and heart tucking. I just wish all shows were as good as this one.

FYI: www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/agents-shield-renewed-abbreviated-sixth-season-at-abc-1110788MAY 14, 2018 11:45am PT by Lesley Goldberg 'Agents of SHIELD' Renewed for Abbreviated Sixth Season at ABC The network has handed out an abbreviated 13-episode sixth-season renewal to Marvel's Clark Gregg comic book drama to Agents of SHIELD. The series, which marked Marvel Television's first live-action scripted drama before the comic book powerhouse spread its wings to cable and streaming, had run 22 episodes a season for its first five runs and is nearing its endgame. A decision about a potential final season has not yet been determined for the perpetual bubble drama. ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey confirmed Tuesday that the series will return in summer 2019. She hoped the move to summer would extend the show's life beyond what it would have had were it to return in-season. Last year at this time, the series from showrunners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen negotiated a reduced licensing fee that helped secure a fifth-season pickup as ABC used the drama to establish a night of genre programming Friday. Taking over the time slot previously occupied by Marvel's since-canceled big-swing Imax play The Inhumans, SHIELD has averaged a 1.2 in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic and nearly 4 million total viewers with seven days of delayed viewing as the drama, co-starring Ming Na and Chloe Bennet, remains a strong DVR performer (up 100 percent and 167 percent, respectively). Still, SHIELD remains an international draw for ABC, producers ABC Studios and Marvel Television. This season, the drama featured a tie-in with Avengers: Infinity War as the show remains a distant cousin to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Giving the series a short order helps to maintain the relationship between Disney and corporate sibling Marvel. Marvel Television, meanwhile, has made a concerted push on cable and streaming platforms after seeing Agent Carter canceled at ABC after two seasons (and Inhumans wrapping after one). Its current roster includes Netflix's Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher and The Defenders; Hulu's The Runaways; Freeform's Cloak and Dagger; FX's Legion; and Fox's The Gifted.

Finally watched the last five episodes and wow! just wow!
Frankly, other than the search for Fitz in another universe or timeline, what is there to say. Coulson apparently dies with May by his side - in Tahiti - love the reference, so he may not be part of the show unless they also save him in the other timeline as well.
Okay, so over, not over.

That description has left me more confused than ever; not about Coulson, but Fritz as I thought he was alive and with them during this whole back to the future time on earth. Fitz was alive and with them during the future time on earth. Season 5 was about breaking the time loop which the team did. Breaking the time loop allowed the team to get back to present day earth and have events proceed to a point were Fitz was killed.

So it will be as if the "disappearance" from the diner (with the exception of Coulson) never happened?
Are you talking diner present before the big bang or after Daisy blows it all up?

So it will be as if the "disappearance" from the diner (with the exception of Coulson) never happened? Are you talking diner present before the big bang or after Daisy blows it all up? The diner incident happened, that is what happened before the loop. That had to happened, then they traveled to the future and that is where the loop started. They are back on earth after they escaped the loop, after they were taken from the diner. They still have memories of what happened.
