Saw in PEOPLE that Christian Siriano and his husband have separated after almost 2 years of marriage

That's a shame. They were together for a very long time before they got married, and apparently some blog heard about the split and was going to print the news first, so they just announced it? Terrible.

Apparently Christian (like many big name designers) uses freelance designers to design some of the fashions for the shows. Unfortunately for Christian, one of the designers he used for NYFW this year copied a Spring '18 Valentino dress (they just changed the color and material) and the fashion bloggers Diet Prada called him out on it. Publically. He took it in good humor, pulled the dresses from future shows and sales, and said that he wished he could make everything that went out on the runway, but it's not physically possible. He also said that would be the last time that designer would ever work in his studio. Granted, a lot of looks get recycled, but in a year? What was that designer thinking? I hope Christian has that "designer" blackballed because that's his reputation on the line. wwd.com/fashion-news/fashion-scoops/christian-siriano-diet-prada-valentino-callout-1203020832/

Christian really hit it out of the park with Billy Porter's (Pray Tell on Pose) Oscar outfit. A Tuxedo gown with a full skirt for the Red Carpet and a thinner skirt for the parties? LOVED IT!

Here's a video that Brandon Maxwell created for his spring collection:
(Lynn Wyatt is a Houston socialite.) I'm not sure what to make of this. I definitely would not wear that mint green dress to a wedding or reception. I've worn a strapless dress to a wedding reception before, and I spent the whole time worrying about it staying up. Thanks but no thanks.
I found an older video of a previous collection, and every other model wore an outfit which was open to the waist. Those outfits were just "wardrobe malfunctions" waiting to happen. (And don't even get me started on the washboard-flat chests the models have. It's just not pretty.) I don't care if you call me a prude; that's really not my thing. It really pains me to say all this because we are both natives of Texas.

She is the daughter of a friend. Yay, after 15 years of the FORT, I finally get a fashion reference!

I got an email from Sketchbox (an artist subscription service where they send you art supplies every month) saying that they were having a special fashion illustration edition of their box, and that Project Runway Allstars winner Anthony Williams is contributing exclusive content for it:
What a lovely, unique opportunity for him, and how cute!

Michael Costello popped up as a guest judge on American Beauty Star a while back ago. That's the second time I've seen him as a guest judge on a Lifetime reality competition. I'm so glad he's doing well.

Project Runway at the Met Gala:
Christian Siriano designed Janelle Monae's outfit for the Met Gala and there's like hats on top of a hat and an eye on the breast area that actually blinks, lol! Perfectly camp and on-theme. He also designed Laverne Cox's beautiful Mommie Dearest looking black dress, Michael Urie's Victor/Victoria getup, and Ryan Murphy's cape.
Brandon Maxwell designed all 4 of Lady Gaga's looks. The first look was a pink dress with a amazing train carried by tuxedoed men with umbrellas, followed by a pink wagon full of his acrylic purses, lol. Each look was layered over the next one, and she shed each look on the red carpet until she was left with a bra and panty set.
Karlie Kloss wore something that looked like little swimming inflatables on each arm over a tube dress that was ugly and not on theme. Elaine, on the other hand, wore a black outfit that was gorgeous, if not exactly camp.

A million dollar prize???? WTF!

Amazon can afford it.

A million dollar prize seems about right to me, since Amazon is planning on selling the winning looks all season long. Since Amazon will be making money from their designs, it seems that they should benefit from that. They're probably not going to give the winners each week a percentage of the earnings, but they should do that as well.
Does this mean we may see less crazy stuff win each week since they'll need to also keep potential customers in mind?

Finally, some good news! I love the new PR and will keep watching it. But it's just not the same without Heidi and Tim. I will give their show a try, as well, and hope it succeeds. It looks like they're bringing in international contestants, which I think is cool. I love watching the foreign designers. Oh, ok. I'll admit it. I also love their accents. And it also looks like they are filming overseas. Paris! Sigh

Chris March died of a heart attack today. I'm really upset over this. Granted, his health hasn't been that good over the past few years but this is terrible news.

I didn't realize his health issues this past year so his passing was a shock to me. Like Andy Cohen posted, I loved his booming laugh and his outrageous costumes. RIP Chris.

Oh, wow. Thank you for this. I had no idea he was so ill. How terribly sad. I remember that he was eliminated early in his season. Then another designer chose to go home for personal reasons so they brought Chris back. All of the other designers cheered when he walked back into the workroom. How many other designers could you say that about? And for a while he had his own reality show, where he and his team designed larger-than-life outfits for special occasions. They looked like they were having so much fun. Bless you, Chris, for bringing some light into this world. You will be sorely missed.
Just read the Variety article. How terrible! He fell, lost consciousness, and lay in his apartment for several days??? Nobody thought to wonder why he suddenly disappeared off the face of the earth? Oh my gosh, I wish I hadn't of read that. I think I might cry.
On a slightly more positive note, I loved the picture they provided. That outfit is hilarious and I think the way he would want to be remembered.

Christian Siriano was on Tamron show today and he said he learned of Chris' death on the morning he was showing at Fashion Week, so he felt a double whammy. He said they became great friends during the show - they were on the same season.

One day you're in, and the next day, you're out! Apparently Zac Posen not only shut down his entire business, he's not even going to ship his Spring collection. Goodness...I wonder what happened?

I read that he and his board of directors were looking for a buyer, but couldn't find one by their deadline so they shut down the entire shop.
I was really shocked when I read this as his designs have always seemed to be popular and saleable though he was more high end red carpet.

Oh man, that is so sad. His clothes weren't my cup of tea but they were stylish, beautifully made, and the man is talented. His team was also extremely diverse as well(something you don't often see in that field); so many people out of work! I remember something similar happening to Issac Mizrahi and Stephen Sprouse; eventually your overhead is either higher than what you take in, or you're extremely popular but you don't have the cash flow to pay for the materials/people to crank out your clothing. It's extremely sad when that happens.
Christian Siriano posted a rather cryptic post on Insta about how hard the fashion industry is and sometimes through no fault of your own bad things happen and people should hang in there. This must have been what he was alluding to.

So he basically got screwed over by an investor who thought he wasn't profiting fast enough for them. How terrible. :/ Working for Brooks Brothers may not have the same cachet as running his own studio but his Hollywood glamour will add a certain cachet to the company and will give him a chance to step back, regroup, and get his creative juices flowing again.
I remember people making fun of Christian for teaming up with companies like Payless but that was the smartest thing he could have ever done.

It does not make a lot of sense for a designer to associate with Project Runway, but resist a price point that makes it an accessible brand. While Project Runway does draw an audience that is more affluent than some shows, a large part of the audience is still "regular" people who appreciate fashion, but don't have budgets that allow for buying pieces priced for hundreds or thousands of dollars. While Michael Kors is not cheap, he did alter his brand to be more accessible - providing pieces for places like TJ Maxx etc - when he was on PR so that he'd benefit from the show. It seems like Zac resisted that move. Quite honestly, I think all designers associated with PR should take notes from Christian and follow his lead. I'd have a hard time thinking of a designer who does a better job of walking the walk when it comes to making fashion accessible, and he's done so without sacrificing anything from his vision for design. He respects all consumers regardless of price point or body shape, and should reap the rewards for a long long time for walking that walk.

This is really sad. By all accounts he was a great guy and wonderful to work with. Young, too. Heart attack in his sleep, maybe? That's what happened to Carlos Ruiz at Food Network, and he looks like he's in the same age bracket as him.
