Box in a Box in a Box - The contestants face a mystery box challenge where they are surprised with more mystery ingredients than ever before; Gordon gives a master demonstration to the contestants.
Looks like I have football on instead of the show tonight (boo), but for those who can watch, enjoy!

Sad that you have to miss the show; can you catch it at another time?
Micah didn't let me down and he showed his integrity at the same time! The mystery box reveal was very interesting! If you'll be able to watch the show later, I won't spoil it for you, but it's a new one!

Sorry, I got sidetracked watching Air Traffic Controller videos, LOL!
So, Micah picked Subha to go to the elimination challenge, saying he basically didn't feel like it'd be right to throw somebody else under the bus just to cut down his competitors.
The mystery box was kinda like the russian nesting dolls. Big box with a bunch of langoustines in it (which I've never heard of and dang sure wouldn't eat now that I've seen them!!) as well as a smaller box. That box contained a filet mignon along with another, smaller box. That box had a disgusting, black, wrinkledy-looking thing in it that is apparently a truffle! (Which made me decide the langoustines don't look THAT bad after all). Gordon showed them the dish that HE'D come up with, which was fun, then they all had to start. They were supposed to use all 3 of the items in their dishes. Sadly, Subha's offering passed muster, even though they did have some criticism of it. Fred and Bri were left in the bottom 2 and Fred got sent home. Gordon had some really nice words for him and said he's going to make a call and get him a job/internship/whatever with some famous baker, and he was pretty thrilled about that.
So, Subha's still there and is "coming for Micah". Micah looked terrified; oh, wait.... no he didn't, LOL!

Apparently, everybody had something not quite right with their dishes, but Fred's problem was the most serious...so his leaving was right.
I was glad that they used the footage of Bri saying how close she had gotten with Fred and that he was her best friend there. We don't often get an inside look as to how the group interacts outside of the kitchen.
I know that Nick mentioned in an interview that he remained close to a couple of the others after the show ended.

Fred was so grateful and gracious during his exit. He owned his mistakes and was ready to move on to his goal of having a bakery with his parents. He is from the area where I grew up so it'll be interesting to see how his story plays out.

Subha can cook, but doesn't excel in a team challenge where he can't do his own thing and work at his own pace, hence he ends up on the losing team in the pressure test where he's able to cook his own food his way and makes it through! The Circle of (Subha) Life!

The Bakery owner Gordon said he would call for Fred is Candace Nelson who owns Sprinkles, the premiere cupcake bakery. She was a judge during the Macaron challenge and said Fred's were the most professional she had seen. I hope he gets a chance to intern with her group.
I think Micha chose Subha for the elimination challenge rather than someone more challenging to him because Subha did so poorly on the team challenge and it wouldn't be fair for any of the others to face elimination. I was secretly hoping for Subha to fail the challenge, but he pulled it out.

I can't figure out exactly why I don't like Subha, but I don't. I like most of the others that are left.

She seemed really nice and genuinely loved Fred's macarons!
I'm sure of that, too! I would have been disappointed if he'd gone with "game play" and eliminated someone just because they might beat him later. He took the high road, though, and I liked that! It was a pretty sucky "advantage" to give him though, especially for the pretty crushing victory on the team challenge! There was no winning with that being the "prize" for Micah: if he'd picked one of the others on his team, they'd have had a decent chance of staying in the competition, simply because they ARE some of the better ones! Choosing Subha meant that only 2 things could happen: Subha might have gone home - which wouldn't really make that much difference; or Subha stayed and is now ticked at Micah, in addition to still being there and being an annoyance. I thought it was a crappy reward; almost more of a punishment.
(I'd mention that I was also (not so secretly) hoping for Subha to fail, too, but I think you've all figured that out, LOL!)

Subbah doesnt hold grudges based on past performances.
I thought Gordon was going to call Christine Tosi from MC Junior so that he could spend some time learning in her kitchen

I would have to rewatch as I know I heard a hard C sound starting the first name. Either Baker would be terrific to act as a mentor to him.
