Family Reunion - Hope it's okay that I start this.
The chefs' families come for a visit and to see their contestant cook a "family inspired" dish.

Thank you, I totally forgot to start the thread for tonight!

It's nice to see everyone's loved ones come to watch and cheer on their chef. Almost everyone.
I fell SO terrible for Micah! NOBODY from his family came!! They evidently don't agree with his path in life and are being petty, horrible human beings and just leaving him totally alone! It's all I can do to not cry. AND, Gordon told him after everyone else's loved ones were standing with them to tell Micah that nobody came. Thank God for Dorian standing beside him; he was on the verge of losing it when she stepped over and gave him a big hug. Dangit! Now I feel like crying for him again.
So - it's kinda odd that all 3 women ended up safe on the balcony and all 4 guys are in the elimination challenge. Dorian's dish looked really good to me. They were fairly complimentary of Micah's dish, but he still ended up in the bottom 4, even though the other 3 got a lot of criticism on theirs. When they announced the bottom 4, Micah just looked so broken and disheartened that I was afraid he might just quit. (Before going up to the balcony, Dorian took a moment to go over and hug him again. If he doesn't make it to the end, I'd be good with her winning)
So, the challenge was to cook along with Gordon as he cooked one of his own dishes. In the same amount of time! Gordon narrated as he cooked and they had to keep up or remember what he said so they could replicate it.
And... I was afraid of this: Micah kind of fell apart and is just having all kinds of trouble; you can tell his heart's not really in it tonight. I'm afraid his only hope is that Subha's is bad enough to fall below, because Noah and Nick both did really well. Subha's looked like crap and wasn't that good as far as taste.
Naturally, we have to wait till after the commercials to see how Micah's turned out.

Micah's fish was undercooked, but the minestrone is the absolute best of the night according to Aron. (I forgot to mention that he cut his finger badly while cooking and had to stop to get it bandaged. So, he lost time and got his nerves messed up terribly.) Well, ^*&%#*&^* - Subha survives AGAIN, dammit!! I just don't know how, but if he wins, I'm going to go to wherever Gordon is at that time and have words with him!!
Micah kind of lost it when talking to the judges before he left and Gordon said he wants to get together with him after the competition is over to help him "plan his path" to achieve his dream.
I think that being there all alone and cooking with the others while their families cheered them on really had an effect on him. I hope his damn family is proud of themselves for shooting him in the foot.
Anyway, I'll stop my rant now; the whole situation really bothered me. His family couldn't set aside whatever their opinion of his chosen profession simply to show him a little bit of LOVE!

Oh so sad! I've been so impressed by Micah and thought he was going to make it closer to the end.

This makes me so sad. What could he do at his young age if he could feel the love of family holding him up and cheering him on. I haven't watched yet, but I will. I do think Subha is overreaching, but, Gordon, in particular, loves Indian flavorings.

I was shocked that they sent Micah home. Granted, there was the problem with the fish, but he did lose time dealing with the gash.
I did have tears come to my eyes when nobody showed up for him. I missed the auditions so I don't know what they said about his relationship with his family. Did they want him to go to college and pursue a law degree so they were angry at his working in a restaurant (I vote no) or were they a dysfunctional family who just did nothing for their kids?
Kudos to GR for seeing his potential and taking him under his wing. That kind of help will totally turn Micah's life around.

Finally got to watch all of it - wow. Micah's family sucks. Nobody could show up and support the kid? I wanted to cry for him, even more when Dorian went to give him a hug so he wouldn't feel alone. Geez. And I don't think he deserved to go home over Subha, either. Subha's plate was a big mess, the puree too thick, and I think one of them called it bland overall. Yeah, Micah's fish was raw but he lost time and got flustered after the cut happened. His minestrone was excellent, yet he got sent home. BOO.

Ugh! What a punch in the gut....twice! I thought it was horrible that no one showed up, and then they allowed him to have no one. I would have been gutted. At least have a celebrity chef to stand in for a family member. To me, that was just mean. And then the double punch was that he was eliminated! Poor kid!
I was really hoping Noah would take the boot. First, his personality is not my favorite, plus his dishes have been a complete mess. At least Subha had a great birani. Why does Noah keep putting a thick sauce around the plate? Gross.

They couldn't have found an uncle or aunt or close friend to come for him? It almost screams of producer meddling. Poor kid.

Or a friend? A teacher? That was really hard to watch. If I were a producer, I would never do that to a 19 year old kid and would have not done the family day if not all could participate. It really doesn't change the show if they don't have a family episode. But having a contestant melt down because they don't have anyone show up does.

Shoot, if I lived anywhere near there and was aware of the situation I'd have showed up for him! A total stranger - aka. a big fan - would be better than NOBODY! In his shoes, I'd probably have nothing to do with that "family" after this!
You just know that, if Micah goes big and ends up famous and prosperous, they'll be begging to get back in good with him. He SHOULD just kick them to the curb if that happens, but I think he's too nice to do it.

I finally watched and, actually, I think Micha left with the best deal of the season - Gordon Ramsay is going to mentor him. He fought his way into the competition and cooked interesting food. I hope he does make a name for himself in the industry.

Really sad for Micha. They definitely should have found a friend or a fan to attend. I would have gladlygone to support him. I wished they would have let him stay.
