How come we don't already have a thread for this? I cried my eyes out during tonights episode. And when I saw Shannon Doherty I completely lost it. It was a beautiful episode in memory of Luke.

How come we don't already have a thread for this? I cried my eyes out during tonights episode. And when I saw Shannon Doherty I completely lost it. It was a beautiful episode in memory of Luke. I was crying too. All through the show I was painfully aware that they were celebrating & commemorating Luke Perry as much or more than Fred Andrews. I just couldn't look at it as a show about a TV character. I saw it as a show about a beloved actor & co-star. Even the way the character died. Dying too soon, suddenly, tragically & unexpectedly. Once again, life imitates art & art imitates life. It was very well & respectfully done.

I felt that way too. And you knew when they were crying....they were real tears. So that made it all the more heartbreaking. At one point I tried to snap myself out if it. I was feeling ridiculous for crying so much

I’d never watched an episode of Riverdale before this one so I definitely was watching for the Luke tribute instead of anything else. I thought it was incredibly well done, and offered a lot of truths about loss as well as about Luke. I love that they brought Shannon in. But I kind of wish they’d done that by making her an old high school friend who heard about Fred’s death instead of what they did. There could have been a really special life crossing into art moment with her talking about her memories of Fred, and telling Archie and the gang how special the people that you go through this time in your life are. Since they brought her in, I wish they’d gone all in.

I agree....that would have been amazing. I was also hoping that the whole crew from 90210 would be in the parade crowd holding signs that said "Luke" instead of "Fred" but then I realized I was reaching and feel satisfied with what they did. It's a definitely a teenage type show acookertv but I do enjoy the actors. Especially the adults...I was obviously a fan of Luke Perry. But I love Skeet Ulrich. He was made famous by the "Scream" movies. Molly Ringwald, Robin Givens...lots of 80's & 90's actors that I grew up watching. But the young adults are great too. I often "watch" it while I have something else to do and it's just on in the background

I started watching the show because of Luke and Skeet.. and hate to admit, but I love it. Luke was VERY much loved by the cast, so I am sure this was hard for all them as well. Fitting farewell to a great person.

The episode is on my DVR but I haven't been able to watch it yet. It's been an emotional week anyway, so I think I'll wait a while to watch. I know I'll be a soggy mess.

Despite the episode being an after thought, it was well done. It was filmed after the season arc had already been scripted, so it was filmed and inserted before the original season premiere. I enjoyed the addition of Shannen Doherty. It made sense the way it was done. I expected to get more emotional after reading this thread, but I didn't. Maybe, I knew what was coming. But I enjoyed it.

I've been watching every week since the beginning of the series, but last season darned near drove me off. It was awful. I hated the storylines. I was ready to chuck it aside this year, 'till Luke Perry passed away. I wanted to see how they handled it, and they did beautifully.
I'm glad to see them making short work of wrapping up the unpleasant storylines from last year. The Cult, the stupid game the kids were playing, the kids being drugged, the Gargoyle King, the whole Kids In Prison thing, it all just put me off. I laughed when Edgar came out in that Evel Knievel suit to take off in his homemade rocket. Bang bang. He's gone. End of storyline.
So far, it's only 2 regular episodes in, but it seems an improvement this year. I'm not ready to give up on it yet.

I completely agree about the Gargoyle King storyline and everything that went with it. It was just....dumb.

I love the kooky names they have for places and things on the show. Like the Leopold and Loeb juvenile center named after 2 real teen murderers from the 1920's. I know there's more but I cannot think of them at the moment
