Season 1 Episode 1 - "PILOT" - 3/29/2018
Season 1 Episode 2 - THE LURE - 3/29/2018
Episode 1 and 2 are considered the premiere for this series. Ben finds a marine tracking device that emits a sound that is actually a recording of Ryn's sister. Ryn's sister has been captured by the military and they are taking tissue and fluid samples from her. For what purpose I don't know.
Two of the crew of the North Star, Xander and Calvin want to activate the device, wait for the military to show up, ambush them and force them to find their friend Chris who was wounded by the captured mermaid in episode one. What is scary is that these two don't understand what a dumb idea that is.
More people get involved in the story, Helen the store owner. Knows a lot about the history of the mermaids. Ben's asks his father about his ancestor and is basically blown off.
It is obvious that Ryn is very powerful, strong, and like a wild animal ready to defend herself at any minute.

Season 1 Episode 3 - INTERVIEW WITH A MERMAID - 4/5/2018
Ryn is definitely not Ariel. I do wonder about what the military plans on doing to the mermaids as it is clear the Admiral does not care if the mermaid lives or dies.
What scares me the most about this episode are the two fishermen, Xander and Calvin, from the North Star. Calvin is so hot tempered and Xander is almost there in their obsession to find fellow fisherman Chris that hearing their plans for the nurse are so scary stalker and kidnapper that I wonder if they even know that there would be jail time involved if they actually followed one of their plans.

Season 1 Episode 4 - ON THE ROAD - 4/12/2018
A lot has happened in 4 episodes, finding out mermaids exist and helping Ryn find her sister and both getting back to the sea.
While that felt quick the search for Chris seemed way too slow and who cared except for Xander and Calvin.
What shocked was that the Admiral acts as if the navy/military have known about the mermaids for some time and are treating them like some deadly enemy. Why?

Season 1 Episode 5 - Curse of the Starving Class - 4/19/2018 Why does the military need to capture an intelligent race and experiment on it. Thank you for showing the better part of humanity by the way. Not that surprised that Helen is a mermaid or perhaps the descendant of one. Luv'ed the commercial to save the fish, the oceans, and the mermaids by supporting www.conservation.org.

Season 1 Episode 6 - Showdown - 4/26/2018
I do wish we knew what the heck the Navy wants with the merfolk? I don't think it is to use their stem cells to cure paralysis although that is a side benny.

Season 1 Episode 7 - Dead in the Water - 5/3/2018
I did think it was kinda weird that the Dale the Sheriff and Maddie's step dad thought that Ben and Maddie could have helped murder someone.
Nice to see other merfolk.
Oh, cool they can move on their tails like a snake ... makes me wonder why the one warrior shedded his tail while on the North Star.
Xan ... you want to prove you saw a mermaid by capturing her using a spear gun. So you don't care if you hurt it or kill it so long as you catch it, then all your troubles will be over and no one can then tell you what to do? The logic just escapes me.
Now Xan is angry his father is dead, killed by a merman warrior so it looks in the preview for next week he wants to kill all merfolk. This again makes so much sense. I guess it is too much for Xan to face the fact he is responsible for his father's death

I just binged this series over the weekend, and I love it! There are some serious eye-rolling parts, but hey it’s Freeform.
I thought the merman shed his tail on the boat to move about more stealthily. Sad that Xander’s father is dead, but wow is he losing it. Ryn/Ben/Maddie is an interesting dynamic, and I wanted the show to explore that more. It looks like they’re going to move toward Ben/Ryn instead, though. I’m looking forward to learning more of the family background of Helen and Mr. Pawnall.

The merman did shed his tail later after they had him locked up in that room in the ships hold but at the very beginning when he first landed on the boat he was up on his tail like a snake. I rewound and watched a couple of times, that's how I caught it. Thought it was a cool technique.

Season 1 Episode 8 - "Being Human" - May 10, 2018 per wiki: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siren_(TV_series)The funeral after Captain Sean's death. The boys have to lie to everyone, it's tearing them apart. Ryn learns about humans, empathy, that her people also have funeral customs. Helen is blackmailing Ben's dad. Lot's of resentment of the local fishermen towards Ben's dad. The thing is someone always ends up being richer than others and everyone else always resents it. Donna brings two friends with her back to Bristol Cove.

Season 1 Episode 9 - "Street Fight" - May 17, 2018 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siren_(TV_series)Donna returns with two hunters, the male is the one who killed Xander's father Sean. Donna brought with her to help bring Ryn back to the water but it turns out they want to kill Ryn because she has been too long on land. Ryn tells a story about when a mermaid came to land and fell in love with a human (Captain Pownall who founded the town) and they had a child who was deformed and he took to the woods and killed and the mermaid returned to the sea, but the humans also massacred the merfolk on land and sea. Xander gets his father's rifle and sets out to find and kill the merman who killed his father. Donna joins forces with Ryn and Ben and later with Xander to hunt and kill the two merfolk hunters. The Sheriff finds the two hunters and there is the chase, arrest, and escape from the police vehicle. Ryn ends up fighting the female hunter and becomes the dominant female and all is settled until Xander shows up threatens to kill the merman and Ben tries to stop him and instead Donna is shot. Lots of action, not much sense, needs more plot and scenes.

Season 1 Episode 10 - "Aftermath" - May 24, 2018 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siren_(TV_series)Donna dies. Ryn worries that she cannot leave her in the deep. Helen shows them her families burial ground and reveals that she is a descendant of Captain Pownall and that she is 1/8 mermaid. That Captain Pownall and a mermaid had a child but was born transformed and that the Captain brought the child to the Haida to help learn how to shapeshift. Decker needs to hear Donna's song but since she refused he drowned himself. Ben thinks he hears Ryn's song and dives into the water searching for her and nearly drowns before Ryn saves him. Maddie confronts Ben and says that he is pushing her away and that they don't make decisions as a couple anymore and that she will be staying with her dad for a while. The city council is unhappy with the crime wave ... talk of replacing the sheriff but really it is only been a short while. It looks as if the Sheriff told Ben's dad what is really going on. Xander finally seems to be getting some sense and is sorry that Donna died. It is revealed that Xander slept with Janine, before Calvin (one of his crew) started dating her and Calvin is upset about it. Calvin also spent all the money he earned fishing and it looks as if he called a newspaper or tv station to leak a story about the weird stuff that is happening at Bristol Cove.

Season 2 Episode 1 - The Arrival - January 24, 2019 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siren_(TV_series)#ep11Season 2 starts ... Ben is still feeling disconnected and lost, and both Maddie and Ben are kinda lost and confused about what happened and how they interrelate with Ryn. While an interesting concept and take on mermaids with an underlying message that humans are messing with the ecosystem of the oceans, the series can feel very slow and molasses like. There is a bit of interest in regards to Xander's new bar friend who looks as if she is a military spy.

Season 2 Episode 2 - The Wolf at the Door - January 31, 2019 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siren_(TV_series)#ep11The constant tension with the previous female leader of the mermaid pack and Ryn is getting tired and annoying. I hated that they got wolves involved and of course are making wolves the big bad. Tired mythology much? Lazy writing. I am more and more appreciating Netflix and series that can be 15, 20, minutes long. I would rather have good tense story lines for a shorter period of time then needless filler. Elaine, Ben's mother should really keep her nose out of old family business.

Season 2 Episode 3 - Natural Order - February 7, 2019 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siren_(TV_series)#ep11 Ryn has to fight the mermaid leader she previously defeated in battle. Ben lured by the siren song tries to interfere. Does the siren song turn a person's brain to mush? The partial autopsy of the last's bad guy seems to suggest it has a huge impact on the human brain. Maddie records Ryn's song, and Ryn tells her she also feels a pull (addiction). Xander - is acting all bent out of shape. He killed Donna (Ryn's sister) last season while trying to kill the male warrior that killed his father. He was so sorry he did that yet when he suspects that male is within reach he goes starts to obsess and starts looking for revenge never mind he might lose the North Star due to his father's debts. Dude, you need to focus on running the family business instead of drinking every night and sexing it with the planted military spy.

Season 2 Episode 4 - Oil & Water - February 14, 2019 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siren_(TV_series)#ep11Levi (merman warrior that killed Sean, Xander's dad) wants to learn to be a man on land which of course involves beer pong and slow dancing. Levi and Ben exchange mating rituals. Levi demonstrates a glowing neck. Ben, Maddie, and Ryn echange hugs and kisses after Maddie returns from visiting her mom who is high again. I will admit they did it very tastefully. I do wonder how they will proceed with this relationship. Xander found and kept Katrina (the former mermaid leader that Ryn defeated) in his hold. He wants to kill Levi and wants her help to find him.

Season 2 Episode 5 - Primal Instincts - February 21, 2019
Ryn's niece now knows her mother, Donna was killed by humans which makes her ripe to work with Katrina. Katrina is gathering the other mer people, she wants to take them home to the water which is dangerous because of the oil companies sonic canon. Duh!
Maddie's mom remembers she left her wedding ring in her dealers hotel room. So of course Maddie, her mom Susan, and Ryn go to get it. Glen the drug dealer finds Maddie in his hotel room and won't let her go resulting in a scuffle which Ryn somehow knows there is trouble and gosh darn miraculously teleports (I am being sarcastic here) from the car to the hotel room just in time to snap the drug dealers neck.
In the meantime it looks as if Ben's dad maybe working with the oil company. Ben is concerned that the sonic canon causes harm to the fish-life, but the drilling and oil spillage with totally destroy the ecosystem and the all the fishing in the area. Bristol Cove is a fishing village, all the fishermen will be out of business. Well, you say they can work on the oil rigs but they will give up being independent fishermen with their own boats to working for an oil company that once they are finished will have destroyed the area and the fisherman could not go back to fishing.

Season 2 Episode 6 - Distress Call - February 28, 2019
It was fun watching Dale (the sheriff and Maddie's dad) wipe clean the hotel room where Glen the drug dealer was staying and make it look like Glen had died in an accident. I wonder if toxicology shows he never used his product will it raise any red flags or if the police will accept the story because it was a bad guy killed?
Okay, so the two sides of the mermaid pack have a deal to work together with the humans to take down the oil company. I do like that Helen and the older merman are forming a connection.

Season 2 Episode 7 - Entrapment - March 7, 2019
Watching Calvin and Xander in a jail cell or whenever these are together is like watching an episode of "Really dumber and even dumber". Shocked the heck out of me when it looked at the very end of the episode that Xander may have figured out that Nicole maybe the military spy spying on them.
Oh no, please Ryn don't give yourself up to be a guinea pig for the military.

Season 2 Episode 8 - Leverage - March 14, 2019
Nicole takes Ryn to a Naval Station to get a physical, no blood, xrays or MRI were done and the military commander is upset with Nicole commenting that Ryn should have been restrained. What part about trust does this guy not understand. These entire military aspect is getting very lame, it is easy to set them up as the big bad here. I am surprised that was all that was asked of Ryn. No DNA, no pee, no poo samples.
OK, Ryn + Maddie + Ben finally happened, tastefully done.
Sarge, the merman connecting with Helena was killed, it was so obvious something was going to happen, the showrunners really need to stop broadcasting these elements so obviously and in so far in advance of the event, it destroys the shock factor and ruins the story telling.
Xander confronted Nicole about being military, told Ben. Donna's daughter went after him during the mission, and cut a gas line with the axe she was using to kill Xander with. The North Star is on fire for the last scene.
This is extremely coming from Xander.
Mid-season hiatus starts - will airs second half of season 2 which consists of 8 episodes June 13, 2019.

Season 2 Episode 9 - "No North Star" - June 13, 2019
per Google:
What happened after oil rig blew up?
Xander's boat, the North Star burns. I like how they do explore the possibility that Xander now has other choices besides being a fisherman.
Nicole, really? You can about Xander. He is sooooo beneath you.
What is on the mysterious video ... a shot of Ryn swimming 2,600 + ft below the surface.
Maddie and Ben, you do not get rid of incriminating evidence by putting in a garbage bag and dumping it one town over. You burn it, duh! As far as the laptop, destroy the hard drive or the laptop and get a new one. Deleting files does not erase the evidence. I felt as if I was watching stupid are us.
There is actually a lot going on in this episode.
Ben, Maddie, plus Calvin, Xander, and Nicole with Ryn thrown in.
Ben and his dad, then later Ben, his dad, his brother and mom with Ryn thrown in.
Ben, Maddie, Ryn and Nicole.
Ricky and Helen trying to seek out other people descended from the merfolk.

Season 2 Episode 12 - "Serenity" - June 27, 2019
per Google:
OK there are other hybrids living in the area. Ricky's sister is involved in the group. I don't know why they didn't tell him. Maybe they thought he was too weak, not one of them. It looks as if Helen's mother and father were hiding on Pownall land from them. Helen is a Hawkins and Ben's family Pownalls. Seems there is some bad blood between the two. When Beth implies to Ricky that Helen cannot be trusted (ominious music sounds and you can tell she is thinking of getting rid of Helen) Ricky reveals that Helen is in contact with real merpeople.
Ryn, Ben and Maddie use a Naval deep dive submarine to find the merpeople's echo chamber that heals them. Ben knocks out the cameras but I bet there were other tracking devices on that submarine. Later it is revealed that the Navy has bugs and cameras planted in Ben's house.
Levi (merman warrior) is back on land.
Calvin is in debt from gambling.
Beth tries to make nice with Helen. Doesn't go well. She see Levi outside of Helen's shop.
For some reason I keep thinking that Ben's mom maybe part merperson.

Season 2 Episode 13 - "The Outpost" - July 11, 2019 Per Google:
OK it is starting to get convoluted and the producers really need to be careful to keep a tight rein else it just becomes a complete mess.
Hybrids: a community of hybrids, you intermarry to keep their bloodlines what? What is the purpose? They are dangerous. They possibly killed Helen's father for being human. They potentially killed John, one of their own for what?
Military: What do they really want? weaponize the mermaids? Use their siren song?
Ben & Maddie & Ryn: just a love trio.
The reporter: Seriously, Xander and Calvin just make it worst and worst for themselves. At this point no body believes in mermaids. No one thinks Xander and Calvin are smart enough to blow up the oil drill, the logistics don't make sense and they are not smart enough to do nothing and say nothing.

Season 2 Episode 14 - The Last Mermaid - July 18, 2019
per Google:
Xander herding in heat mermaids is always good for comic relief, but where is Nicole.
Helen, a pivotal character, interacts with Ted (Ben's dad) about some letters between her mom and Ted's mother. Xander shows Helen the hybrid graveyard and that someone took the bodies. Helen also talks to the hybrids. This character knows alot, knows all 99% of the players, and can think.
What is wrong with Ben? I thought the effects of the siren song had been reversed?
No, I don't think Ben has a universal key card that can get him into secure areas on a military base. However I need to ignore that fact for the sake of the story moving forward.
Not surprised the polluted water is effecting the mermaids ability to reproduce.
Where is Levi?
