Someone tell me why Katy Perry is dressed as a huge bottle of hand sanitizer?

I wished Katy would've taken it off after the initial joke; it looked dumb for her to wear it the whole show.
I couldn't believe how good the sound was on these at-home performances! It looked like the show really set them up well, sending not only that ring light, but multiple cameras, other lighting options, etc. Very well done!
And this was not live, correct? There's no way they could've done that so seamlessly if it had been live.
The girls' voices didn't come across as well as they would've in a studio, IMO. Some sounded pretty harsh, but I voted for my favorites anyway. There are a couple of the guys I really like too. Lots of talent, actually, so I'm glad they didn't just cancel the season. This was a fun way to make it work.

I'm about half way through and really amazed at the way they made the tech work. Yes, with back-up singers and band in the background all coming in from different locations, I was wondering how it could be live...also the first singer in FL had a daylight background and 8 PM start time is dark, even in FL, right?

I’m glad Just Sam chose to stay in LA. She seems determined to make a go of this. I’m sure they had to prerecord given how quickly they followed each other, all the editing they needed to do, and the high probability of glitches with technology in the home. There were lots of good performances and some of my favorites weren’t as strong as I wished. It will be interesting to see who goes through.

I have to say the person I was most impressed with was Jonny West. Both my husband and I though he was the best last night. I thought Arthur Gunn (my favorite going in) didn't connect as he usually did but I still want him in the top 10! The other ones we really liked were Just Sam, Jovin Webb, and Francisco.

I wondered if Sam stayed in LA because she couldn't go home. She shares a small apartment in NYC with her grandmother so perhaps she would have nowhere to isolate herself coming into the city from CA and her g'mother would be of a vulnerable age. I can see AI helping her.
I really, really liked the way they did the show. As Luke said, you could really hear their voices without the distraction of the screaming, arm waving audience.
I thought everyone of them did very well and the contrast of the kids' abilities with those of the early years of AI was just amazing. Back then, there were 3-4 who could win and everybody else was cannon fodder.
Looking at most of the houses, these kids have been given lots of advantages.....that was America's middle class highly ( but not all) represented.
