I saw in PEOPLE that Tyra will be the sole host---so no replacement for Erin. That will seem weird, maybe they get their results in front of the judges. Meh without Tom the whole thing sounds weird. They need to do something about the voting,

All the changes they seem to be making in the past couple of years are doing nothing to improve the show. These changes seem even worse. I can't imagine Tyra will be good at hosting. It's much more than just reading off the cue cards on live TV. Tom manages to be encouraging to the contestants, laugh at the judges when they're going crazy, deal with mishaps like women's outfits breaking and him shielding them from view, or fainting, like Marie did. He did all that while smiling, and keeping the show on time and running smoothly. It's going to be a big loss, and might be the final straw for me. I've been hanging in there despite all the crazy changes but without Tom it'll seem like a different show and not one I'm all that interested in watching.

Tom was so clever, he's quick with his banter.

The show is still hoping to begin in September, according to this article: ------------------------------- ‘Dancing With The Stars’: ABC Eyes September Production Start As BBC Studios Works Through Health & Safety Procedures - DeadlineBy Peter White July 24, 2020 2:21pm EXCLUSIVE: Dancing With the Stars is looking to waltz into production in September as ABC and BBC Studios work through the health and safety protocols that will allow the competition format to light up the dance floor this year. The show, which is based on the BBC format Strictly Come Dancing, is entering its 29th season with former America’s Next Top Model host Tyra Banks now hosting and exec producing. In recent years, the series has traditionally aired around the middle of September, so the hope is that it won’t be too delayed by COVID-19. The show has been lined up for an 8-10 p.m. slot on Monday nights in ABC’s fall schedule. However, sources close to ABC and BBC Studios warn that the schedule is fluid and continuously evolving with nothing set in stone as a result of the ongoing nature of the virus. These sources tell Deadline that they are still figuring out whether the show can go live. It’s understood that the production team is actively working on and submitting its planned safety procedures to the unions and guilds, though it’s too early in the process to have full approval. As expected, the show will observe all of the now-usual COVID-19 production guidelines such as social distancing, temperature checks and masks. ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke told Deadline that BBC Studios had taken lessons from other territories where the show is produced. “I have seen the presentation from the Dancing with the Stars producers on how we are planning to produce this show, post-COVID and with the health regulations in place because they have the advantage of making it in other territories and I am blown away by the ingenuity and the care which they are producing it,” she said. “We are bringing all of those innovations to the American broadcast. I’m really confident in their plan.” Former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe is the first star lined up to waltz over to the show. Banks replaces Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews, who have left the show (MFW note: no, they were FIRED, thank you), and she will exec produce alongside Andrew Llinares. This comes as a number of other entertainment shows start to get on their feet; Fremantle recently produced an episode of NBC’s America’s Got Talent in Simi Valley and ABC’s Card Sharks is back in production. Fox’s MasterChef is eyeing an October restart for its upcoming season.

Well, we will see how the human "guinea pigs" do I guess. I feel apprehensive. Are they going to be wearing masks at all times?

Well, we will see how the human "guinea pigs" do I guess. I feel apprehensive. Are they going to be wearing masks at all times? Dancing with masks on is much more difficult than sauntering through Safeway with one. The movement & heavier breathing is tough. Plus, facial expression is important when dancing. I'm curious what this would be like. If not, they'd probably have to explain why not, hopefully every week. I think this would set a very bad example for the viewers.

It would not surprise me if they change the styles of dance done so there's less direct contact and they can dance without masks with space between them. As sports leagues have come back to play, many players are competing masks - just putting them on when they are on the sidelines. I would think they'd do the same with dancers.

That just seems really really strange to me, DWTS wearing masks, I really don't know why they are bothering with this season. No audience, means no booing as soon as Len speaks, that's a plus, so far the only one imho

THey'll do the season if they can because all the networks are desperate for content and desperate for ad revenue! The more shows that are out of production, the more TV audiences are sampling things on streaming services and may not come back.

Bubble dancing is expected, but they would have to be in confinement the entire time. No going back to families or regular home life. For cast and crew that’s a long time.... I don’t know., but if you were desperate to pay bills, then it could be done.
I wonder if this will be filmed (like ANTM) or Live? Will we still vote in the “new format”?

Nikki Bella and Artem's baby was born on Friday, just one day before her twin sister had her baby!
It's seems like it's baby time at DWTS!

I just saw a promo with Tyra for the next season, yeah, she was already irritating me. It doesn't bode well. I think I only ever made it through one ANTM episode. "Next level" isn't why I fell in love with DWTS to begin with and it's not why I've been hanging on watching. Obviously they are not trying to appeal to me, an original faithful viewer.

That's pretty much how I feel, but then I'm not their target audience..I just love to watch dancing. I'll maybe record it, then I can FF through the judges etc...I can't imagine those three , without Tom to keep them in line

I'll probably watch the first show at least, just out of curiosity. I'm not expecting much though. Maybe since my expectations are so low, it won't seem so bad. After that, I'll decide if it's worth investing my time in.

I like the dancng although I cannot figure how they will be able to do the show under the current medical limitations. If it comes back in any form, I will watch it at least once.

I guess it's like the hockey players Tested, living in a bubble, . It won't be easy on them. I never thought they'd pull off a big brother, but they did. They are all in close proximity ..

The key to successful productions right now is isolation. Tyler Perry has started it in his studio in Atlanta. A few productions have started up by having everyone involved live and work on the lot. We can likely count on some show Andes from this season of DWTS because they’ll have to get stars willing to be away from families. With as many pros as there are with new babies we may get a lot of newbies too unless their families can come in the bubble.

If we thought we were getting C/D-list celebrities before, imagine the level we'll be getting now, since isolating in a bubble away from home may also be a requirement. Eesh.

From what they reported on GMA this morning, I was very surprised that there will be so many married couples / family among the pros, but that each team will be separated from each other. THe married couples will have to remain apart while they are on the show.

I would have LOVED to have seen Dr Faucci. He would have even made watching Kaitlyn tolerable. Well, a little bit tolerable. I'm a huge Dr Faucci fan. He's the God of infectious disease information & prevention.

I’m hopelessly out of touch with modern culture. I know almost none of the contestants they just revealed. Anne Heche and Carole Baskin, yes. That’s ok. My favorite is usually someone I didn’t know going in. Like that race car driver. Yum!
