My DIL is a total vegetarian. She has been for the better part of 10 years. Is this going to be a new lifestyle for you bachelorwatcher ?

A question for those going/gone vegan for health reasons… As I understand it, most people cannot convert all the nutrients they need to convert to do this, and too many vegan supplements are the wrong formulation, poorly absorbed, etc. So did you take any steps to determine or quantify how your body actually handles vegan so you know what you need to correct?

I had achy feet when I started in January. I went on a quality multi B supplement then. Recently after watching Forks Over Knives I went off of the B. All of my nutrients are derived from food.

One of my Facebook friends posted before and after Vegan photos. I was vegetarian. The diet that worked for me before menopause was not working after menopause. I had carried 30 pounds extra weight just after menopause for about ten years. My friend was 62. She looked fabulous.
In 2019 I had went to emergency twice for a migraine and a fall. In 2020 I have NOT had sinus headaches. I am sure footed. I can wear my pre-menopause clothes. Walks are now energizing instead of a chore.
The diet is rather simple--NO animal products.

I'm not ready to go fully vegan, but I'm thinking about adding vegan meals to my diet. I already go meatless at least a few days a week. Fully giving up eggs and dairy would be harder for me than giving up meat. I've been watching Carleigh Bodrug's reels on her Plant You IG for a while and I just took the plunge and bought her cookbook. She focuses and easy and delicious vegan meals. The cookbook is beautiful and the recipes I've looked at (it just came this morning) look great.
I've been dealing with sluggishness and weight gain and I think I might need to reboot my diet. Maybe this will help.
I also like her focus on low-waste recipes, since I'm working hard to not throw out any food if I can help it.

Well, I"m definitely not going vegan, but I'm trying out more plant-based meals. I've been feeling terrible lately. Menopause-related weight gain brought acid reflux along for the ride. I feel sluggish and icky most of the time. I'm going with the "can't hurt, might help" mindset and overhauling my diet. I'm going to focus on veggies and whole grains and beans/tofu with a little chicken, eggs and dairy here and there.
Last night, I did a veggie "fried" rice with cauliflower rice, broccoli, peas and corn and a scrambled egg. Sesame oil, garlic, ginger and soy sauce as a sauce. It was pretty good!
I bought some more brown rice, along with some nuts and pumpkin seeds, as well as some canned beans (yes, I know it's easy with the slow cooker, but it's 100º and I'm hot AND lazy right now!) and leafy greens. I also bought some whole wheat tortillas for wraps. I think I'm going to try to do wraps and bowls for dinners. Maybe a sandwich here and there. The PlantYou cookbook has a really yummy looking chickpea salad that you can do wraps of sandwiches with. Might try that out tonight. No cooking in this heat!
PlantYou had a recipe for cabbage "steaks" that looks really good. I'm definitely going to try it out soon. Tahini Cabbage Steaks
