I nailed it! On the old FoRT page, I posted that I wished they would do a fast forward at the end and show what happened to everyone ... and they did! I also said that I'd like them to show Axel grown up with kids torturing him by being just like he was as a teenager ... and they did! I loved the way they wrapped up the show. Brick was especially wonderful, with that beard and having written a best-seller involving a kid and a microfiche. His love of books and that machine really paid off! I'm sorry it's over, though. I'll miss the Hecks.

I thought part one meant part two is next week. I only saw the first half hour! I've had a lot on my mind lately so I wasn't thinking. I guess I can catch it on demand soon.

Well, first off, I'm embarrassed to say that I cried throughout the entire finale. My kids thought I was crazy. But I just really love this show. It was funny, relatable and heartwarming. I wish it could be on forever. I loved the finale last night. It had everything! Loved how they brought up "old memories" from past episodes, how they ended things with Sean and Sue, how they flashed forward to show what happened with all the Hecks. Axel getting kids that were just like him!! Brick becoming a writer and had a wedding ring on. Them finally becoming Donohues! And even Reverend TimTom got a cameo! I am really going to miss this show and this family!!!

Yes I loved how they finished it off.
Brick with the beard too funny. He had a wedding ring on too.
I knew the snow globe had to come into play too.
When Frankie said she always signs the cards from both of them , I was saying the same thing. I also say I love when I know they are all tucked into bed and I know my kids are safe.
This show was so my family , my son is so Axle and daughter is Sue to an extent. Definitely miss this show.

My favorite part was when all three kids were in the car and Sue said she loved being in THE MIDDLE because she got to be both a big sister and a little sister, she go to have a big brother and a little brother... and she got to have her “moment”.

I loved the Finale. I liked how it wrapped up the storylines for the characters in a positive but humorous way. This is exactly what I would have asked for. Gonna miss this show.

I loved it too! Frankie said they have to promise to stay on the family plan...so sweet! Then the references to the middle.

Loved it! I'll miss this show! I was the girl in the middle of 2 boys and I always related to the Heck family. I love that Axel has three boys just like him and that he married Lexi. Love that Sue and Sean got married by Rev. Tim Tom (Did Darren come to the wedding????). And love that Brick is famous and inspiring kids all over with his writing! I wonder what happened to weird Ashley?

Went back and watched again , I'm sure Cindy was at he wedding , someone else said they mention he married her on an earlier show don't remember that. Noticed the ring right off the bat but the hand it was on was really weird, like it was photo shopped in and a woman's hand with a big gold ring. Wish they didn't break the snow globe...it played a big part of there story.

I'll need to rewatch it again and see if I catch Cindy unless someone has a screen cap. To be honest, I can't quite see Brick marrying anyone else but her. I know people don't like her but he did.

Yeah I hated Cindy! But she and Brick got along.....maybe she wore her safari hat at her wedding! Remember how older shows would sometimes do an update Christmas movie (the Brady Bunch, father Knows Best, etc...) I wish the Middle would do one in coming years. I would totally watch that.

I rewatched it too and I'm pretty sure Cindy is behind Lexi and Axle. Brick is beside her but doesn't have the beard in a light grey suit. She does not have the hat on and looks somewhat like she did for prom in a white and pink flowered dress. At least I that is her.

Everything about this show was hilarious....even their last name, Heck. And Sue being Sue Sue. Just so much funny. I will be a re-watcher I am sure.

I caught the end and liked it a great deal for all the reasons stated above. I plan to rewatch it to catch more details. I will miss this show as it was so different than any other and I loved all the actors in the Heck family!

I thought it was kind of odd how they never brought Darrin back again for an appearance on the show after the breakup with Sue. When they originally broke up, I thought that they might end up getting back together before the show ended. I guess that would have been really tough to go to the wedding and watch one of your best friends marry your ex, so I could see why he wouldn't have been there for that event.

I thought it was weird how Axel and Sean dropped Darrin after the Sue stuff and we never heard of him again. Did he marry Angel (?) the hairdresser?

Maybe it sounds harsh, but I don't think Darrin was an important enough character overall to bring back for the finale. His relationship with Sue ended quite some time ago, and his path diverged greatly from that of Axel and Sean, so he was really no longer relevant or connected to anyone. I don't think it was weird that Axel and Sean dropped him (if that was the case rather than the writers just not having anything to do with the character anymore), because it would be awkward for a brother to keep a guy around his family when his sister has broken up with him, and I'd guess that Sean was glad Darrin was no longer in Sue's orbit.
I want to rewatch the wedding scene and hit pause to possibly see the attendees I didn't notice before ... Cindy, Lexie, and was Brad there? Big Mike? Rusty? I loved that they worked Rev. TimTom in so perfectly at the end. One little wish I had was that Frankie and Mike finally bought a new washing machine now that they no longer had three kids to support!

The break-up between Sue and Darren was rough on him. It would be difficult for Darren to hang out with Sean and Axle as Darren s life was going in a completely different direction. I consider Darren's character pivotal to Sue's growth as she had to turn down his proposal. She had to be the one to break his heart and say no. As a people pleaser who is all sunshine and roses, that was a monumental achievement for Sue. It crushed him. I think the writers felt it would be unrealistic to keep Darren in the picture after that, I'm sure he wanted nothing more to do with Axle/Sean simply because continuing the friendships would mean bumping into the girl who broke his heart. There are some relationships that have to end. Plus, how awful would it be if Darren had to watch Sue and Sean get together? I'd like to think Darren moved on and is living a great life.

That's true^. Now whatever happened to Carly?????? I like to believe that Brad and Carly designed Sue's wedding, lol! Carly was on for a half second during the Christmas party episode. She was pregnant. But, that's all the writers gave us. Her appearance happened so quickly and so randomly it took a minute t sink in. lol Which i guess, was the point. Carly and Sue's friendship sort of died out in high school. If i remember correctly, Carly ditched Sue after being invited to a sleep over hosted by some popular girls. She also went to the movies with them -again lying to Sue about what she was really doing. I believe Sue would eventually find out through FB.

I had forgotten all that! I do remember the episode where Sue first started liking Sean and Carley convinced her that he wanted to be her boyfriend because he offered to drive her to her babysitting job and it was one street over from his house so it wasn't really "on his way home".

Are there any updates about other networks that may be interested in the spinoff? I heard that abc scrapped the pilot idea for some reason.

I read up on it, they didn't give a reason. Doesn't look like other networks are interested. I think it was a mistake to pass. It would have paired perfectly with The Goldbergs spinoff during midseason. What a bummer.
