Tormund said he wanted to go north Way Too Fast. {Spoiler I think} It is for him to find a spiral of body parts as mentioned in one of the spoilers to keep viewers on the hook

I can't believe this will all be over in just a few days. I'm sad, but also sort of relieved. This season has been a bit of a disappointment, especially the last two episodes. I truly hope GRRM finishes the series so we'll know how it was meant to be done. If he doesn't finish the books, I'll have to rewrite the ending in my head like I did for True Blood. God, what a crap finale that was.

WHATTTTT? REALLLLLLLLLY! ONE episode left after watching 8 seasons and I am justing finding this out NOW!!!!! It probably depends on what cable service you have, but Comcast has like 8 or 9 HBO channels. Unfortunately only one is in HD AND in English, but I'd rather see GOT as soon as possible, so I watch it at 6pm Pacific in SD and then watch it again in HD at 9:00. I'm hopeful that Comcast will increase the number of HD channels they offer. It's a bummer to watch a show like GOT in SD.

^^^ At this point, I’m actually looking forward to that more than the series finale. I’m preparing myself for disappointment on Sunday It’s not the actual ending, but how they got there that I’m not happy about. We knew from the beginning that we weren’t going to get a happy Tolkien ending. GRRM told us so. As for Dany going all Mad Queen... they’ve been preparing us for that for years. It’s not surprising. I never imagined she’d end up on the throne. I couldn’t picture her being welcomed as a ruler, especially in light of her father’s reputation. Why would anyone in Westeros think his daughter would be any better than he was? I just wish we’d gotten more of that final turn on screen before it happened. Most viewers haven’t watched the whole series since it aired the first time, so they don’t necessarily remember all of the little moments where Dany was a bit MQ. I just watched the whole thing over the week leading up to the season 8 premiere, so I caught a lot that I’d forgotten about or hadn’t caught the first few times I watched (hindsight being 20/20 and all that). I never thought that was snow in the last episode. I assumed it was ash. I mean, Dany did just burn down half the city!

Now I'm REALLY looking forward to it! I love behind-the-scenes stuff. Bloopers, interviews, all of it. On that topic.....I'm not sure if all cable/TV services have these, but Comcast has a bunch of extra GOT content. One of the things I've been watching is videos of each of the main actors (and it's easily a dozen or more of them) detailing their character's entire journey on the show. It's everyone from Emilia Clark and Kit Harrington to Rory McCann and Lena Headey. Most of them are 15+ minutes and really entertaining. It's fun to see their takes on the storylines and little tidbits about filming.

What is really funny is the youtube compilation from the actors interviewed about the last season. It is all over their faces. The clip where Emilia, Nathalie Emmanuel (Messandei), and Jacob Anderson were on the red carpet. Emilia and Nathalie repeat "Best Season Ever" over and over again and Jacob is choking. Kit is never smiliing. The only one that will say anything remotely good is Samwell Tarley in an unconvincing dialogue of you mostly have not gotten good. And it is good when you don't get good. The problem was George RR Martin didn't understand that was not a good twist. He likes twists. He didn't want to show that Danyris was mad, because he would not have gotten his twist in. Other than Aeris, he didn't want us to see madness because he would not have gotten his twist in. Dani had problems to contend with. Her killing two people is way less than everyone else's body count. Eddard Stark--mad; Jon--mad, Sandor Clegane--mad, Jaime--mad I am happy for the life implications for the actors. Now we know these people and will enjoy seeing them in other endeavours. They should not be struggling actors. That is what good is; and I am happy to see that good. {Spoiler Snow} [Spoiler: Snow] Snow--I watched the trailer for the Last Watch Documentary. They showed 3 seconds of last scene for Emilia Clarke. It was announced as the wrap for "last scene with Emilia Clarke". It was covered in natural snow. She was wearing her white and black fur jacket. Then she hugged Dave. The actors said what the routine was for people who died. The producers were very thoughtful in having that be their very last scene. The actors would not have to be very emotional in returning to shoot a scene once they have had their death scene. So I guess that she will be killed outside in her jacket with snow all around. But it will for sure be "snow" if they always follow their death and last scene rules.nd

Besides not having the benefit of more time for things to play out, I thought episode 5 was good and very intense.

I wonder if the throne cuts Daneryis. That is the sign the the throne is rejecting them. Dani's dad was also known as the scabby king. My best guess for this evening {The Times Spoiler} Samwell Tarley is announced as Rhagal's first son Aegon who has first place to the throne than second place Jon. It explains
the extra shitty treatment Sam got from his father. Samwell sits on the throne. And Jon goes north out of choice.

This is speculation I've been reading around the web and it is totally ridiculous. {Spoiler} "They" say that the direwolf, Ghost, is the only character worthy of the Iron Throne. I guess everyone else is NOT worthy.

{Spoiler Link--Lessen my cold mad heart} Samuel Tarley's son Jon being born with the Targaryen silver hair and violet eyes. It would be a boy. Because little Sam would start fighting little Jon for the throne (as is history) Probably the only thing that could lessen my cold mad heart

So any opinions about the petition in change.org to have HBO rewrite season 8. I do realize that the series is done and it would be virtually impossible to get everyone back together to do a rewrite. I do find it a tad odd that some fans are calling for a rewrite before the finale tonight. Also from my understanding is that George Martin did talk to the producers about the main key points of what will happen in his written series and the producers have been doing the writing based on that information for season 6 and 7. So why are the fans just now getting upset?

I think it as Critical and others have said, it is not where the story has gone but how. Not enough explanation, not enough “show don’t tell”. They should have taken the extra episodes HBO offered. Though some will never have been happy at Dany’s “turn”, no matter the way it was shown. But of course they are not going to remake the season. The petition is just an easy and free way to express group dissatisfaction.

The lady in Fire and Blood who stole the 3 dragon eggs for money to buy ships to follow her dreams and explore the seas ended up not happy.
It would be ok for a paperbook ending for fake characters. It is really a fake ending. The people turn into plastic. The end.

I actually really liked the ending. I’m so surprised. When I saw the spoiler that Bran became king I rolled my eyes. But Tyrion was totally back on form and he made the choice make sense. The conversations between Tyrion and Jon & Dan and Jon were on point as well. I do wish Gendry had been with Arya at the end (personally) but I liked her, Sansa’s and Jon’s endings. And he pet the direwolf this time! Brienne’s updating of Jaime’s page in the Kingsguard book was touching, and I’m glad she was made head of the Kingsguard and Sam was GrandMaester. I’m happy.

I was OK with it as well. Much of it made sense after Dany was killed. I have always felt this was the Stark's story, and the ones that lived came out ahead in the game. I also got to see Ghost get some snuggles. It was a decent end.

Well...that happened. House Stark for the win! I liked most of it, I suppose. But smirky Bran was the last one I wanted sitting on...well, whatever is serving for the throne right now after Drogon did his thing (did he understand that the throne basically killed his mother? He sure was pissed off at it). Not thrilled with Jon being shuffled off to the Night's Watch again, but yay for the reunion with Ghost and Tormund. Sansa deserved her crown. And while Arya didn't get to get stabby with Cersei or Dany, I like the idea of Arya the Explorer. I guess that horse was just a horse last episode. Psh. Drogon flying off with Dany's body, that shot of his wings unfolding behind Dany as she walked out to the mess she made, Tyrion sobbing as he uncovered his siblings...good stuff. I still wish they'd took HBO up on their offer and made a few more episodes, it just felt so rushed after everything that's happened.

^^^ waywyrd - I liked most of it too. Really, the low point of the season was episode 5. Not necessarily because of WHAT happened, but HOW it happened. Having just binged the entire series right before this season's premiere, I could see things that maybe I didn't remember or pieces of the puzzle I didn't put together watching them individually. For instance, what Dany became wasn't a twist or a shock - it was a natural progression. She was all too happy about burning her enemies, from her non-reaction to the death of her only sibling, to the crucifixion of the Great Masters of Mereen, to the burning of Varys and all the deaths in between, she was always been a bit blood-thirsty and down for killing rather than punishing her enemies. All that being said, most viewers didn't rewatch the entire series just recently and the majority of them can't remember, nor should they be expected to remember, every little moment that presaged her final turn. In the end, there was nothing else to be done but to do what Jon did. She never would have stopped "freeing" people and leaving destruction in her wake. IMO, just one more episode of her devolving into madness before the destruction of King's Landing would have helped a lot. The spoilers I posted last week were all dead on. It does look like - and some cast members confirmed this - that several "decoy" scenes and possible alternate endings were shot, including one where Tyrion is put to death (glad that one didn't come true). Everything else though, from who killed Dany to Drogon burning the throne to Bran as King of the SIX Kingdoms and Sansa on the throne in the North were all dead on. I'm not really unhappy about any of it. Jon didn't want to be king. He might have done it if there wasn't an alternative, but he likely would have been miserable in King's Landing. It's more fitting for him to be in the North where Tormund told him be belonged. Oh, and YAY for the reunion with Ghost! Regardless of his actual parentage, he always felt like he didn't belong.
As a writer on another site mentioned, the first pov chapter in the first book (right after the prologue) is Bran's. Maybe some foreshadowing there. The moment with Tyrion finding his siblings' bodies had me in tears. Give that man an Emmy. He did excellent work this season, as usual. As much of a monster as Cersei was, he still felt sorrow at her death. While I thought they both deserved better deaths, I like that they had Tyrion grieve them. Oh, and can we talk about Brienne finishing Jaime's page in the record? Beautiful. I've already seen an article bagging on how the ending was too saccharine. Um, what? One of the lead characters killed the other lead. Lots of other people died. GRRM promised a bittersweet ending, not a freaking depressing ending!
The only big rumor/spoiler that didn't happen was the pregnancy - there were hints that it would be Arya or Brienne. I'm good with that. I thought the majority of characters got fitting send-offs.
How freaking fierce did Sansa look in that gown at the end!? I literally said "SLAY Queen!" out loud
For a second, I thought the final line of the episode was going to be Tyrion's crack about bringing a jackass and a honeycomb into a brothel
ETA: Okay, and that moment in the Dragon Pit when Edmure stands up acting like he's going to put himself forward for king and Sansa just says, "Uncle, do sit."
That shot of Dany framed with Drogon's wings? Perfect.
ETA2: It took a second watching to realize that was Robin Arryn at the Drgon Pit meeting. He's not quite so creepy now!

There was no reason why she wouldn't have left Westeros to attend to their affairs. I know I am going to enjoy the fan fiction better than this grrm end. Maybe Euron could cut Cersai's tongue out. They could have ended up voting for Tyrion or Sir Davos as their leader. We could have seen wildlings making happy homesteads down south. Dany could have found and kept love. She was my favorite character.

...and they all lived happily ever after. I’m glad Tyrion made it to the end... recounting the time he took a jackass and a honeycomb into a brothel. Is Jon going off with the wildlings at the end? Or was that just to show that his life sentence included the camaraderie of the wildlings? I was wondering how they’d leave things with Arya and I like where they went with it. King Bran the Broken. All hail.

All hail. I took it as Jon escorting the wildlings north to help them resettle. He would have to go back to Castle Black at some point or be considered a deserter.... I’d assume I read something last night about a moment we’re seeing in the preview for next week’s special. Because Kit didn’t read the scripts before the big table read with everyone, he experienced all of it as the cast read it together. Apparently, the moment in the preview where he looks choked up is the moment he learns what happens to Dany and the part Jon plays.

Yes, YES and yeah.. I know.. right?! lol Also, I think that Bran had the best line about "why do you think I came all this way" or "why do you think I made the trip" or something of the like, I cracked up.. Bran isn't JUST the odd dude chillin' in the chair. At that moment I absolutely no problem seeing King Bran the Broken rule the Six Kingdoms. Funny how the one who wins the throne was the one sitting the whole time. Given Arya's new status as explorer, I'd love to see a series on what is west of Westeros. But hell we cant get GRRM to finish THIS series let alone tackle that one or even provide vision. ETA: not 1 but 2 bottles of water make it to the dragon pits.. Sam and Davos had them. lol.. this is what happens when you rush a season. tisk tisk tisk.
