Did anyone else watch the debut on Tuesday? Talk about a twist...I think this is gonna be a good one.

We enjoyed it. I guessed the sheriff was involved.

I’m interested to see where it goes. Yeah, the sheriff was creepily kind. I know the story must move along, but the scene with the three girls unable to fight back against one guy with a taser was a bit much. The final scene was quite surprising! I like the bold move.

I wasn't going to watch until I saw all the comments about that ending. Yikes! Good and creepy, I hope they can keep it up throughout the series.

One of the reasons I have thought about watching is cause of John Carroll Lynch. He's played a lot of good roles in shows and movies. The episode of The walking dead that he was in is one of my favorites.

We really enjoyed it. I am really happy anytime there is a new show that DH will watch too. Our TV interests, other than the CBS competition reality shows, are very different. Then on Wednesday morning, I read some really bad reviews. So this may not last. It is on ABC and ABC has more than once taken a show I really enjoyed off the air after less than a full season. fingers crossed

It's hard to judge based on one episode, but I've got mixed feelings about it. First, a thought about the ending, which is a spoiler if you haven't seen it yet: {Premiere Spoiler}Advertising Ryan Phillippe as one of the stars only to have that twist at the end of the premiere was a little shady. But they hinted that he'll be back once in a while for flashback scenes. Overall, I was expecting the show to be more like Twin Peaks or Northern Exposure, but the premiere focused on only a few characters and the main crime that's going to be the focus of the show for a while at least. It's all very downbeat so far. I hope the show becomes about more than just the crime, since it's not exactly "Who killed Laura Palmer" -- especially since they (partially) told us whodunit right off the bat. It's interesting, but since it comes from David E. Kelley, I guess I was expecting a little more. We'll see how it progresses...

I know the story must move along, but the scene with the three girls unable to fight back against one guy with a taser was a bit much. The final scene was quite surprising! I like the bold move. I agree on the fight with the 3 girls. I kept thinking "Kick the taser out! Kick the taser out!! Then RUN!" They didn't listen to me. The idea that after getting the drop on him & then his getting all 3 of them was a bit far fetched. The final twist totally surprised me. I wasn't even sure I'd seen it correctly. I did like the music used. I thought the show had a really strong Twin Peaks vibe to it. So far so good with the show. I'm in for at least a few more weeks to see if it holds up. The thought of the 2 females becoming the leads could be good or a disaster, depending on how it's handled. So far they don't seem like lead PI's. Not much character development on them. I'll keep an open mind. One thing I'm not crazy about lately with TV shows is the using of all female leads in situations where throwing a male in there would work better. So often shows put a female lead in places where a male lead would be more convincing. Let's face it, we may be smart (even smarter ), and tough, but we just aren't as physically capable as men are. As shown by the 3 girls, we can be overcome much easier. Plus, like it or not, we just aren't taken as seriously by people. And this is coming from an extremely capable, independent, and strong willed woman. Unfortunately I just can't compare with physical abilities. God made men & women because both have attributes that are useful in life. Ignoring this in order for a show to feature women just doesn't cut it.

I also got a "Twin Peaks" vibe and was really surprised by the ending.
I'll give it a few more weeks to see if I'm feeling it.
I do want to find out more about the creepy truck driver. How many other women has he abducted, etc., how did this relationship with the cop develop, and what else is going on with the truck driver and his mama!

I'm going to give it a chance - the TV landscape is pretty sparse, so what else is there to watch? - but it seems a bit cookie cutter to me.
Advertising RP as the star is much like what GOT did with Sean Bean, no? And the other characters that seemed like they'd be male leads throughout the series. By the season 1 finale, not so much. I'm not a big RP fan, so I'm not that upset about that situation.
I'm really tired of the "violent serial killer going after prostitutes because his mommy is overbearing" trope. I hope it pays off.
At this point, I'm watching because I love Kathryn Winnick and the promise of having two female leads is interesting.
I have to remind myself that this is network television, which means I need to adjust my expectations.

That's what bugged me too. The core crime / premise of the series is a total trope. Great word. We've seen this movie many times before, so if the rest of the season revolves around it, what kind of new spin is Kelley going to put on it so that we're not just seeing girls tortured every week until it's all solved?

I have only seen EPI 1 and WOOOOOO. The ending I did NOT expect. I thought an actor like RP would be on longer than 1 episode.
I have E2 to watch still.
I also LOVE KW .... she was AMAZING on VIKINGS so it was awesome to see her on Big Sky.

I have to give the show credit on one thing. They pronounced Helena correctly. You'd be surprised how often that gets messed up. Darned near always with out of staters.

Finale next week, I wonder how that ends.. Wait a minute now. I'm just not getting something. Just before your post razorbacker posted that ABC has ordered up 6 more episodes for this season bringing the total to 16. There have only been about 4 episodes so far (not sure of the exact number) and now you say the Finale is next week? How does that add up? How about the other 12 or so episodes? How about the 6 additional episodes this season? I know my math & the numbers just don't add up.

They called it the "winter finale", which means they'll take a month or two off and then start showing episodes again.

So far I like it a lot. Great characters, plenty of suspense, interesting, not predictable. I do wonder how they're going to handle it in the future. They can't very well keep going indefinitely with the story as it sits right now. Seeing that the girls know exactly who kidnapped them & is keeping them captive, they can't very well find them & not get the perpetrators.
I hope they find a way to continue the story long term with the same basic characters: The 2 women investigators, the creepy trucker, the evil crooked cop. They're all interesting.

When the one girl escaped, we knew the cop would be right behind her, (okay the bow and arrow weren't predictable.) We knew the two women investigators wouldn't hear the yelling..so I think some of it, is very predictable..LOL

Well that was certainly unexpected. I have to give this show credit for not being predictable. {Spoiler} And for not being afraid to kill off characters we thought were in it for the long haul. Looking forward to it returning in January & seeing where it goes now. One thing I know. {Spoiler} All characters are fair game.
