Season 1 Episode 1 - "Hit the Ground Running" - March 29, 2021
Episode 1 is 90 minutes long and gives viewers a chance to get to know the teams.
Work Colleges was an interesting dynamic as Mindy had issues climbing the cliff, got a lot of support from her boss and her boss ended up having even more problems.
Police Officers seem evenly balanced with the female giving the two guys the same "crap" they gave her.
Teachers, I was a bit concerned as the female was a new member to the team, was a bit older, and made a navigation error at the start of day 1. The two men were very supportive and did not tear her apart. She stepped up with the language barrier and helped with directions and buses.
Rock Climbers, on paper and initial impression seemed a top team and simply too many alphas on this team with the most bickering between the females. Autumn seems high strung and very Lolo Jones attitude.

Season 1 Episode 2 - "Back Breaker" - April 5, 2021
Can some please slap Autumn, she is so annoying ... again throwing up major Lolo Jones vibes.
Enjoying the show. Luv the support of the male teachers for their female member. The work colleges are working well so far. I feel so bad for the police officers with bike riding and horse back riding for hours in one day. The pain they are feeling is not fun.

I watched the first episode and really enjoyed it. That Canadian rock climbing, though, looked exhausting! It took two days?! Wow. I'd have a lot of trouble with that one.
I like seeing all the different challenges, and the scoring is an interesting way to equalize things. I ran out of time this weekend to watch episode 2, but will have to do it soon!

Season 1 Episode 3 - "The Going Gets Tough" - April 12, 2021
What I find fascinating with races like this or reality shows like MTV's The Challenge and The Amazing Race and Survivor is not so much about who wins, but how did a person handle a change, a mishap, a problem. When it is a team event the group dynamics again are fascinating to watch, and you wonder how would I handle it.
Team North America on both day 5 and 6 there are issues how to approach a task. Charge on or think and be smart? Team Leader Paul take charge attitude totally overrides the team dynamic. I totally Mindy getting frustrated as no one is listening to her and she had some sensible advise especially when it came to navigating along a river bank vs slogging through marshland. The caloric expenditure alone is worth considering. Rushing cost them time. They didn't do an equipment check and had to go back and find a missing piece of equipment. However Team Lead Paul had a great interview after the canoe leg when there was a black bear in the background climbing on the fence of a trash enclosure and then the deer just walked through the parking lot.
Team Southeast Asia is still feeling it's way but there is no blame game and just a fix the problem and lets go attitude.
Team Russia is also doing well and no yelling or screaming is appreciated. Luv'ed the stubborn reindeer.
Team South American I think is so driven that I think it interferes with them making smart decisions such as when to stop and get gas thereby costing them time.

I just found this show and am now caught up. I am liking it so far.
I was wondering what the guys on the North American team were thinking to overrule Mindy. It seemed to me they gave them those rafts (or whatever they were) for a reason. I realize auth the canoe they were meant to portage, but I don't think they were supposed to as much with those. Btw, I thought they sounded pretentious saying por-tazh. I looked it up because I've only heard por-tij. Por-tij is the first pronunciation in both the verb and the noun, but por-tazh is listed as a second pronunciation.
I like how supportive the SE Asia group is, and how humorous the Russian team is.

David Bacon is both Mindy and Paul's boss, but the dynamic I saw is David wanting to charge straight ahead and Mindy was for taking the longer easier route and Paul not stating his opinion either way and by default the team did it David's way. I certainly hope David a can listen to Mindy as his charge ahead methodology will result in a burnout and potential injury. I prefer Mindy's play smarter not harder approach. I hope they can resolve this problem.

Por-tij is the first pronunciation in both the verb and the noun, but por-tazh is listed as a second pronunciation. I like how supportive the SE Asia group is, and how humorous the Russian team is. I just caught up, too. I agree about the pronunciation of "portage" because I know someone who portaged the Boundary Waters, and that's how they pronounced it: por-tij. We also have a city in our state, Portage (por-tij), so it did sound like they were trying to be fancy with por-tazh! That leg of the race looked very difficult, and the canoe looked heavy. There was no path, and going through those trees was nearly impossible! I really didn't care for how Dave treated his team, especially Mindy, and especially after they retrieved the life vest - he was quite condescending. I'm glad she said something at the end of the leg, and I hope Dave tries harder. Paul could also step up and say something. I was glad they didn't get any points for that leg, so maybe Dave will reconsider his approach. Autumn is something else. I'd be so annoyed to be on her team and have to listen to her complain all the time. She's very dramatic, and it seems that team has very little chance to win. The scenery there though, wow! I enjoy watching the team in Russia. I agree with you, Bearcata, that it's very interesting to see their reactions under pressure, and how they interact with each other. The teachers in SE Asia are managing better than I thought they would, since they don't know each other well. I love seeing the amazing scenery everywhere too! Wow.

Season 1 Episode 4 - "A Marathon Of Pain" - April 19, 2021
There is a big reveal at the beginning of the episode where all the teams find out how they are ranked. Autumn of Team South America is not happy they are ranked 4 out of 4.
OMG can Autumn just shut up. Her team is nothing but supportive and she says they are "yelling" at her. Total Lolo Jones mode. During the canoe paddle she is complaining it hurts. All she does on the mountain bike ride is complain going up the hike, going down the hill. The go pro camera is on her face and the whining can be a bit much. The best part is Autumn complaining how much her vagina hurts. I hope she is cringing watching the episode and I don't care if her vagina hurts. She is probably complaining about her edit. But you can't edit what you don't give. It was probably worst than what was shown.

This series is a much better version of The Amazing Race. Love it. We're rooting for the Seattle teachers as we live quite close to the (private) school where they teach. All 3 seem like great people.

Season 1 Episode 5 - "Down To The Wire" - April 26, 2021
Day 9 Team South America - I want to punch Autumn so bad just for how she handled Sierra having issues coming down the mountain.
Day 11 Team South America - Wow, I looked up the Chilean protests that was a very scary situation to be in.
Day 11 Team Russia - Angelina has injured her knee. How bad is it?? Will she need to be pulled from the race?? Can her team continue without her??

Season 1 Episode 6 - "The Final Push" - May 3, 2021
This episode felt rushed to me, to the point it didn't feel interesting as it was just shot after shot of where each team was.
Team North America has settled into a cohesive team. There was a very scary moment on Day 11 when a horse killed one of their guides and it tumbled down the mountain. They looked like they had fun on the ATVs on Day 12 and quickly with no temper tantrums solved a problem when one of the ATVs got suck in the mud. Overall it looked as if they were enjoying every moment of the race. Am rooting for them.
Team Russia seems unstoppable, even a potential knee injury for Angelina was overcome. However their attitude is starting to wear thin and I am rooting for other teams to win.
Team SouthEast Asia the underdogs that are emerging as one of my favorites and I am hoping they will win.
Team South America, wow what a scary situation to be in and the cameramen were able to capture the civil unrest in Chile. I give the production team huge kudos for thinking ahead and having an evacuation plan. Bit scary when Sierra was thrown from her horse. These guys are my least favorite team based wholly on my dislike of Autumns constant whining, complaining, and snappish personality.
All the teams are now flying to Hawaii to meet up and start Stag 2 of the race.

Season 1 Episode 7 - "A Million Bucks Or Bust" - May 10, 2021
Thankfully this was a two hour finale that covers Stage 2 Day 1 and Day 2. The pace of the editing slowed down enough and covered two days instead of three and you could feel the excitement, and the danger of some of the legs.
Day 1 (Race Day 14)
The teams all meet on the beach and trash talk each other a bit.
Off all of the teams Team South America seems least prepared for any of the boating and paddling events. The constant "Owe" "owe" "owe" from Autumn is annoying. This team really struggles as a team.
I am amazed how well Team Russia, SouthEast Asia, and North America do the canoe part of the race in what looks rough water.
Navigation is key to this race, as is good communication, strategy, and how well you prepared, and how quickly you can recognize a mistake and recover from it. The electric bike race through the dirt paths on the ranch property was a perfect example of this. Navigation absolutely cost Team Russia big. Amazing how they recovered from that error.
The bike ride down the volcano was absolutely scary. Not surprised someone hurt themselves. First Marilina (Team SouthEast Asia) fell and dislocated her finger but the medic pulled in back into place and she continued the race. Then Autumn (Team South America fell twice and hurt her wrist and pulled herself out of the race but her team continued. At one point I think Team Russia took over some of the teams on the mountain.
I was really rooting for Team SouthEast Asia at this point and was gutted when the batteries on their electric bikes were completely drained and Jay Wyatt, one of the male teachers got massive cramps in this quads and hamstrings just few miles away from the Day 1 finish line and collapsed on the side of the road. You could feel the tension of hoping a team mate was alright vs getting up and finishing the race.
Day 2 (Race Day 15)
The teams start in a staggered start time based on the previous days finish. Team South America is last 30 minute behind the first team.
Team SouthEast Asia misses a turn on their navigation and have to backtrack a bit and lose about 10 minutes of their 20 minute lead over Team North America.
Team SouthEast Asia's lead is cut even smaller when James suffers calve cramps during the body boarding leg. However they kept going and sprinted to the Bridge, jumped, got into their kayaks with Team North America close behind.
Team SouthEast Asia got to the buoy and pulled up their money and the other teams were signed on their GPS that the race was over. Team North America were paddling their kayak but where shown pulling their kayak out of the water. Team Russia were in the sprint portion of the race, as was Team South America.

Love that Team SE Asia won! I love their humor and the respect they had for each other, plus Jay wearing that Hawaiian shirt every single day! And I live close to the school where they teach, so I'm a bit biased.
