I was very scared for Shota tonight. That...thing he made for the Main Heat looked extremely unappetizing. Here in the States we generally associate black food with being burned. I thought that the black sesame on the outside would make it tasty but apparently all the judges didn't like it that much. Thankfully, they applauded him for doing something different and original, unlike Mr. Tater Tot.

I should think after this week, none of them will ever do a chicken dish again.

There was a lot of bad food this episode! And not too much imagination shown, for sure.

Right? Who eats ribs at a movie? Also, flavored popcorn won a head-to-head challenge. I mean, yikes.
I thought Avishar's frozen Space S'more was the more creative thing done, but he didn't even win his head-to-head either. What a strange challenge.

I would really like to have that s'more. I never got to go to WD-50 but had always wanted to. I think it was an especially hard challenge, do horror, but appetizing and finger food, but not messy finger food.

Honestly, I was annoyed when the judges were critical of dishes that were not "movie food". Had they come out with buttered popcorn, twizzlers and raisinettes, they would have been criticized for going too simple! When was the last time you saw a great chef in a movie theater? Unless it was a dine in theater with tables in front of the seats where they ARE serving things like ribs and chicken wings!

And fine, make an elevated Twizzler (can you do that?) but then make it a comedy. Way too many constraints. I read an article on someone having been there for the challenge and really liking those smores.
