Episode 3 - Modern Wedding - The designers hear wedding bells as they are tasked with creating a three-look modern bridal collection... in teams of two. Not all of the teams work well together.

OMG, the production values on this show! They need to win Emmys for Art Direction and Production Design, for the wedding runway alone. That huge tree hanging over everything... just wow. All the clothes could have been crap and the runway would still have looked just as beautiful.
I agreed with the winner, but I could see the critiques about the man's suit. I didn't mind the jacket, but the cheesy tuxedo stripe down the pant was a big miss. The dress was beautiful but I feel like I've seen it before. There wasn't much competition in terms of another potential winner. Andrea & Ally's collection was basically Andrea's collection... and she'd already used that feathered fabric (or something very similar) before.
Interesting twist to the ending. I guess it was a good decision, because the face-off challenge won't just be about the looks. But that's all I'll say here, lol.

I agree that the way they decided to handle things in the end was the only fair way to do things. Having them go to the LA County building (which is beautiful) and the observatory was a great place to get inspired for the wedding challenge. Fortunately, when they learned that they were going to be in pairs everyone was an adult about it. Some teams worked together better than others: Raf and Gary: A little bit of head-butting since their styles are so different but they got it together in the end. I liked their results but don't think of "bridal" when I saw them. Also enjoyed hearing about Raf's history and considering how anti-LGBT Poland is I don't blame him at all for leaving at 16 to come to NYC. Andrea S. and Olivia: A difficult team for different reasons. Apparently Andrea S. doesn't know how to sew, so Olivia got stuck with the lion's share of the work. Then, Andrea S forgot to put a key item in the seamstresses goodie bag, which meant that the blazer didn't get sewn. Gurl, you had one job... Despite all of that I liked what they sent down the runway because it looked exactly like what they envisioned the client to be; a retired model marrying a rock or rap guy. The "commercial" look was anything but, but I could see a Hollywood type wearing this to a party. Lucie and Joshua: The dream team. Worked together marvelously and you could definitely see the two of them in their work. The wedding dress was beautiful, but the man's suit was a bit much; if you took away one element of the design (my vote would also be for the tuxedo stripe down the pants) it would be loads better. The commercial look (a flowy, beautiful short dress) was the best commercial look of all the teams. Andrea P. and Ally:A little bit of drama due to someone not speaking up that ultimately got squashed and while their styles are completely different managed to work together okayish. Unlike the judges I could immediately see who did what, and while I liked Ally's pantsuit Jeremy Scott hated the pants. The showstopper was the converted dress/jumpsuit, and despite Andrea using the feather fabric again managed to use it with 2 of the outfits (the jumpsuit and the neck of the blazer) and still delivered a "Wow" moment. I liked the commercial look but there were some slight issues with the fit; a better fabric would have been better. I'm about to watch the next episode and already know who I want to win the face-off challenge because I'll take interesting over boring anytime.

Luv'ed the runway. Whoever is doing the design work on the runways is killing it. What an amazing venue to get married in or to hold a special event. I could so easily see after the wedding ceremony the area being turned into a dance floor. Can you imagine dining under those trees and lights?
I am very pleasantly surprised that just because you had a successful look, the less successful designer does not get to ride any coattails. I would be perfectly OK with both Ally and Olivia leaving. This is one area they always had problems with on Project Runway glad to see it having a better resolution here.
Joshua - if you are going to do a men's jacket, and you are a male designer please learn proportions and how a jacket is supposed to fit on human being. Joshua should have lost due to the outfit alone. However it looked as if he saved himself with the collaboration and it also looked as if Joshua and Lucie communicated well.
Andrea S. and Olivia - personally I didn't care for the concept but the execution was H O R R I B L E. Seen the dress before. Not a successful partnership.
I do question how bad are these seamstresses they are not producing finished products and not well made products. Andrea S had a poorly made bustier and on the second night all Lucie's seamstress had to do was sew the wedding dress and nothing was done. What happened?
Raf and Gary - I worried about their team. Raf looked as if he was totally ignoring Gary. Gary really is a thinker, but he worries me. I am a bit scared for him. Glad that is looked as if Raf finally listened to him. Did not like their looks.
Ally - who are you?

I think they keep driving the point home each episode that the seamstresses only have 8 hrs to do all the work given to each of them, AND that they can only do work if the directions in the tech pack are clear. This may be where the designers are failing -- either giving them too much work, or rushing to put together the tech packs and leaving confusing or incomplete directions. I mean, Andrea S. forgot to put the thread for everything in the pack...

I saw the winning look on Amazon before I watched the episode and didn't get the big deal. Seeing how it was constructed and really seeing the fabric made a difference. If was lovely and, as Heidi said, it will sell like hotcakes.
I liked the pieces with the feathers - that jumpsuit and the reveal = fabulous. The everyday look wasn't great.
Re: the seamstresses not sewing various garments....it would be nice if the designers got an explanation of why something wasn't completed. That way, they could avoid the same mistake in the future.

Gary's woebegone "We're safe?" broke my heart. He is a sweet onion roll of a man, and I want good things for him.
I liked Andrea P and Ally's everyday look. The problem was in the fabric; unfortunately it showed every roll on that model's body.
If I were Olivia I would be angry for a multitude of reasons; chiefly being saddled with a non-sewing, absent-minded partner. How do you forget thread for your seamstress goodie bag? Especially after Tim tells everyone "Now don't forget everything they need including buttons, clasps, and thread; they won't be able to complete things without them!

I love a wedding dress competition. Of course my favorite so far is Andrea.

Olivia totally got screwed by Andrea's incompetency--both her lack of sewing ability and her failure to include the thread.
I do think Andrea has better design ideas, so the right person was in the bottom, but I was surprised that Olivia didn't rat her out for not contributing much to the projects.
I do wonder if there's a language issue with the seamstresses. Haven't Andrea's and Lucie's been the ones that came back with not much done each week? And English is a second language for both of them.

And English is a second language for both of them. No, it was Olivia and Dushyant's outfits the second week and Olivia and Andrea S. the third week (because of the failure to include thread). I think Lucie might have gotten half-done outfits too. Either way, Olivia wrote the notes for the seamstress and considering how anal she was with the notes this week I seriously doubt she sent that seamstress hard to decipher instructions.
Honestly, if it were me and I sewed like Andrea P and Gary I would just say "thanks, but no thanks" to the seamstresses. Too much opportunity to get screwed over, if you ask me.
