I finally binged the season (except the Mother episode) last Sunday and watched the new ep that night...I love it!! Elecktra looked so familiar to me and then when I saw another familiar face Sunday's episode I knew where it was from!! There was a one season reality show called Strut that followed trans models at a newly formed trans agency. She was an older model that was brought into kind of help the younger ones in the agency! (The other familiar face was at the ball scene...Laith Ashley was the hot hot guy that the one gal from House of Abundance was going gaga over. Laith has also most recently become the first trans member of RPDR's pit crew!! Can you tell I love Laith?)
I read somewhere that James VDB's character was originally supposed to be Trump, way back when they first started pitching the show and before Trump became president.
By the way, if any of you have Spotify there is a playlist put together by the show of songs used on the show. I love it, brings back so many memories!
I am very glad they got renewed for a season 2!

The "Mother" episode is good, but very intense. Just a heads-up.

Catching up on the last two episodes. What a ride! I knew that Elecktra's fall from grace would be bad, but DAMN. Daddy Dick turned on her the minute he found out about her surgery and got a new, younger transwoman in record time. Even worse, people who were once nice to her also turned on her as well, like the doorman. All the rich men who were interested in dating her flew into the wind once they found out she no longer had a penis. Too make matters worse, she used the last two months rent to help pay for the surgery so she is now getting evicted out of that fabulous loft she shared with her children. Needless to say, her children are not thrilled and abandon her to start their own house: The house of Ferocity. Poor Elecktra is forced to peddle her wares at the Peep show, and the scenes with her getting ready and dancing to Tina Turner's Private Dancer is the saddest thing ever. Speaking of saddest thing ever, I felt very bad for Angel. Since Patty put him out, he's been living with Angel at the apartment when he asks her to take him to a Ball. That turns out to be a mistake as the theme of the night was "bizarre" and so many freaky looks were going down the runway. The whole scene scared Stan so much that he cancelled the apartment and ran home to the burbs just like we knew that creep would. Angel then comes home to a completely empty apartment with her clothes stuffed in a garbage bag. There is an empty place in hell for men who do things like this. Other notable things happening was Lil Papi getting kicked out the house for selling drugs (and promptly getting arrested for selling crack). He ends up with Elecktra's ex-children in their new house. For some reason, they have it in for Blanca even though she's done nothing to them and rub Papi in her face at the ball. Terrible people. Can't wait to watch the finale!

Oh my Gosh!! I love this new show!!!
I've been watching the previews on FX for some time and have been intrigued. The show is so much more than I could have imagined. It's based in the 1980's and it is about a bunch of talented people who don't quite "fit in" to regular society. Lots of really complex characters. And Color! And Costumes! And Music! And Dancing! Along with great drama! I'm hooked!
Punkin I tried watching but I was not getting it at all. Did they really break into the MET and steal valuable museum clothing and then wear them??? I just was not figuring the purpose of all that. Then I changed the channel to Breaking Homicide as I had a few episodes to catch up on. Eeeeeee!!!!!! I love the show so so so much!!! I remember watching Paris is Burning when it came out (I thought it honestly had something to do with France because I was a teenager and studying French in high school. Quelle surprise!) I was so moved by the characters in that movie (and still am) so I expected a little bit of the same for the show. I love the 80s setting and the memories of the TV show and movie Fame in terms of the drama and the Importance of being at the top of game. Am I the only one who wants to pick up Angel and squeeze her like a teddy bear???

I am was forgot to add: I think the reason why they showed the break-in at the museum is to show like how desperate they want to be the best of the best, the showiest of the show, and nothing will get in their way of becoming what they want to become as far as the ball is concerned. I also think that it shows how Elecktra thinks that the rules do not apply to her. She feels that she is such a queen of the world that she deserves real royal clothing. Other than that yeah, it is extremely far-fetched that it was so easy for them to steal those items without alarms sounding right when they touches them. But you do have to admit it was pretty flashy and flamboyant the way they stole the items. They are not your normal art thieves.

It's too soon to tell whether or not I'll like this show. It's very much like the movie "Paris Is Burning," which MFWalkoff first told me about. I DO love the storyline between the business man who works for Trump (sorry, I don't know the character's name) and the transsexual hooker he picked up on the street. I hope they develop that storyline further and not just make that a one-time fling. I hope that character does not end up like the real life Venus Extravaganza. That was just tragic.
I loved PIB but I don't think I can watch it again. I did some research on the people in it and literally everyone in the movie is dead now. Yes! That’s exactly who I was thinking of about Angela’s character! I was really rooting for her and stan’s relationship although it would come as a detriment to his wife and his children. I dang near cried at the end of the movie about Venus at the end. I was really in her corner. Only wanted the same things that I wanted at that age: to be a wife and family the whole picket fence kind of thing. I got it but very late in life.

I would’ve thought that Electric would’ve been more clever to realize what sets her apart from the other women that made her so special to Daddy Dick (good name for that slimeball!) and a man of his stature says what he means and means what he says. If he wanted to so-called average woman, or rather an average beautiful woman, he would’ve gotten one and wouldn’t of been messing with her. For the average black woman, especially successful black women, it’s not easy in the dating world. Good luck to her!

Pose! is back for its second season. Anyone still watching? I half-watched the show. Actually, I had it on as background noise while I was doing something else. I only glanced at the TV everyone once in awhile, and I didn't notice any scenes with the business man that Angel was in love with. I hope they didn't write him out of the show. I loved their strange relationship. I gotta go back and actually watch this episode. Maybe he was there and I just missed him.

I'm still watching, and I loved it! The first episode was more of a history lesson with Hart's Island (The place in NY where they would bury poor AIDS victims) and the beginning of Act Up. That scene where they have the "die-in" at St. Patriick's Cathedral actually happened, and I remember seeing footage of it in HS and not exactly understanding what was going on; people were lying on the floor in the church shouting and being beaten by policemen when they wouldn't move. Blanca quit her job when her boss didn't want to let her take her break early to go to the St. Patrick event and then had the nerve to tell her that no one else would hire her. Elecktra, on the other hand not only didn't go to the event, but it also bringing home different fur coats which is very suspect too Papi. Then again, Elecktra has always taken a "[redacted] you, I got mine" attitude about things but this is too important and prompts Pray Tell to go off on her twice; once at the Ball, and then again at one of Bianca's family dinners. This makes Elecktra snap, leave, and joins the House of Ferocity with her former daughters. Poor Angel. She wants to be a model, so she signs up for one of "Fords Faces of the Future" modeling competitions they used to have in the early 90s. She shows some polaroids Papi took of her to the Eileen Ford character, who tells her she needs more professional pics and sets her up with a photographer. Too bad he clocks her from being from the piers and after taking a lovely sequence of photos of her proceeds to order her to strip naked for happy snaps for his "personal" collection. Bianca and Lil Papi find out about it and give the photographer a beatdown and steal all the pictures and negatives. Angel then shows the modeling pics to Ford who promptly makes her a semi-finalist. I didn't see Stan, and to be honest his storyline came full circle last season when he's forced to really take a good look at himself after both his wife and Angel leave him. Besides that, I always felt that he and his storyline was like a self-insert so Certain People™ could relate to stories about people not like them (similar to the Piper character on "Orange is the New Black"), and I don't think the show needs that anymore. I liked him in the beginning with Angel, but he ultimately treated both his wife and her like garbage.

An incredibly sad show tonight, but something necessary to see. Unfortunately, due to discrimination a lot of transpeople had no other choice but work in the sex trade; having ones own business like Bianca was a very rare thing. And as we all know, working in the sex trade isn't exactly safe. I'm going to miss that character as she always brought moments of levity to the balls.
