I right away recognized the name of the lead character as the lead in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Loved that movie! Can't wait to see this one!

As much as I adore Clare Foy, I'm not really feeling her in that trailer. I thought Rooney Mara was terrific, as was Noomi Rapace in the original. On a superficial level, Clare looks too....healthy. Too much hair, too much eyebrow and not thin enough. IMO, Lisbeth Salander should look other-worldly. Like a creature, not a goth girl. The styling feels like, "Clare didn't want to shave her head." I know, I'm nitpicking.
I'm okay that they recast Blomkvist. I didn't LOVE Daniel Craig in the role. I thought he was good, but not good enough that another actor couldn't take over the role.

I cannot comment on this movie as I know nothing about it. I have yet to see TGWTDT.
BUT what I like seeing is CF playing so many totally different characters.
She going from playing Anne Boleyn, to the Queen of England to, Lisbeth Salander!!!

I have to say I agree. When I first heard she was going to be in it I thought what happened with Rooney Mara (I still don't know). Clare is a fabulous actress, but I don't feel her as Lisbeth. She doesn't look otherworldly as you say, she looks like someone who is trying hard to look otherworldly and doesn't.

And I just read that Rooney Mara was not asked back. A shame, I loved TGWTDT.

Rooney Mara wanted to be called back (she really loved the role) but apparently the new director "wanted to go in another direction." As a huge fan of the original version, I thought that Rooney, Daniel, and especially director David Fincher did a marvelous job. This new movie has none of those things. Hard pass.

I went into that movie not knowing the books at all and just loved it. It was moody and at times rough to watch, but engrossing. Not sure if I like this "another direction" they are going to.

There were a lot of rumors of an affair that did NOT end well between Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig. If he was staying on it in the role, it would make sense that he would either prevent her return in the role OR TPTB would recast the part to reduce the drama (although, IMO, RM was far superior to DC in that film). I'm not sure why, if DC isn't back and it's a new director, they wouldn't want RM. I thought she was excellent. I LOVE Clare Foy, but this feels like a horrible miscast. Even under the Lisbeth makeup and wardrobe, she's still too "English Rose" for this role. Seems like the new direction this director has gone in is a big dud.

You hit the nail on the head, English Rose.

The second trailer was released today and I'm sorry, but CF is horribly miscast.

I'm trying to make sense of the initials and comments. Is this a second film after The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo?

Yes. It's meant to be a trilogy (see: the books and the Swedish films) but for whatever reason the second movie was delayed until now. They got a new director, and he didn't want to use Rooney so he went with...Claire Foy (whose idea of being an edgy hacker is a short haircut and questionable accent)?
Whenever I think of Roony Mara's sweet note on the Sony leaks about this movie and her desire to resume playing Lisbeth it makes me mad all over again.
