The Met Gala is going to be on Monday, May 6th, and the theme is “The Garden of Time” to go along with this year's “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibition. The exhibit isn't about fairy tales-- it's about the ephemeral nature of fabrics, and a celebration of clothing and fashion so fragile that it can’t ever be worn again. There's going to be a range of fashion on display, dating back as far as a 17th-century Elizabethan-era English bodice, that embodies the beauty of the natural world – its fragility and its inevitable decay. More modern, less delicate pieces imbued with the same spirit as the spotlit fashions will be showcased alongside them, and broken up into three sub-themes: Land, Sea and Sky.
The co-chairs this year are Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya and (of course) Vogue’s Anna Wintour. I'm hoping that people get creative for once and not just show up in floral dresses because this seems like an interesting theme you can take into a lot of different directions.

Thanks for the reminder, and for the great explanation of what this year’s theme and exhibition are. Coincidentally, I just started watching the The First Monday in May documentary last night, and it’s so interesting to get a look behind-the-scenes.

When I first heard of the theme, I immediately thought of this work, which is on loan to us: www.metmuseum.org/exhibitions/listings/2022/ponce-loans/objects-on-viewFlaming June. I've been told that she rests under an oleander, known for its deadly properties. So, on closer look, her body's position is so unnatural under that oleander that the picture changes for me from one of a summer nap...to something more profound.

People were hinting at some thinly veiled shade thrown at Kim regarding the theme (because of that fragile Marilyn Monroe dress she wore last year that she ruined by squeezing in it) but exhibitions are planned at least a year in advance so I don't think she had anything to do with it. The Kardashians will probably show up in something flowery by D&G and call it a day.

Ripley's stated that the dress was not damaged She only wore it from the bottom of the steps to the top.

I've heard so many conflicting stories about it I honestly have no idea, including the following: - She couldn't zip it up in the back so it was left open (which is why she had that coverup on), and she immediately changed into a replica of the dress once inside. - She decided against wearing the dress and wore the replica the entire time. - She did wear the dress but there was some damage (sequins popping off, plus a ripped seam). - She took care of the dress and it was fine. At this point the truth is out there, but we will never know. Personally, with a dress like that I wouldn't have loaned it out because the material is so old and delicate. It's not like Zendaya being able to borrow that vintage Mugler from the archives for the Dune premiere the other day that made her look like a fabulous C3PO/Metropolis robot because that outfit was made of a much hardier material (metal) and even with that she still changed into something more comfortable later.

I love that painting, beerbelly , but I’ll look at it in an entirely different way now that you’ve explained that. I’ve never noticed how unnatural her position is.

Exactly....who knows. But I did watch that episode of their show and it seemed like she did only wear it for the walk in and it seemed like it was in ok condition. She dieted like crazy prior to the MET. But yah, it wouldn't zip all the way. Personally, I think it's nuts to put anything of history in danger of getting ruined. But from the sound of it....it was returned in the same condition it came in....which wasn't perfect.

I have to admit that my first thought on reading your description of the theme was that it would be funny if someone did an artistic riff on the dress in shreds as their contribution to the red carpet.

Yeah, they should.never have let her borrow it. It didn't fit her! But she wanted that moment and headline.

Sebastian Grey--Project Runway winner--will start showing his own line on HSN. This coming Saturday, he will be on two shows.
Grey by Sebastian Grey
That is a big deal. Christian shows a lot on hsn, and Isaac Mizrahi shows a lot on QVC (his bread and butter).

Good on Sebastian for making that HSN money! I'm sure there's a lot of folks who will tune in just to see what he's created for them and maybe buy. Mizrahi does pretty good with QVC, so the market is there.
Zac Posen is now the creative director for Gap and created all of the designs for the Black and White Ball episode of Feud: Caputo vs the Swans. Good for him for bouncing back...he had to dissolve his company a few years ago, and I was hoping he would have a comeback.

This is...a lot.
If true, every part of this is vile. I don't know what's the worst part; a 50 something year old man "dating" a 22 year old, a mom swooping in to eat her daughter's leftovers, or banning said daughter and having security at your wedding to said man so your daughter couldn't attend.

It's all vile! For me, the answer is easy: The worst part is a mother breaking her daughter's heart! There's no justification for that, and there's no coming back from that.

Now People's reporting on this, so it's definitely looking legit. Apparently Miley knew nothing about any of this and confronted her mom? The person who ran to People with this news (Billy Ray, let's be real here lol) is saying oh no, it was more of a "friends with benefits" type of deal with Noah and Dominic, and after they broke things off for good Mom swooped in? That doesn't make it any better, because how are you going to get together with some old crow who took advantage of your 22 year old daughter? All of this is grimy as hell! people.com/miley-cyrus-had-no-idea-about-family-dating-drama-source-exclusive-8603535

I want to know how Miley had the wedding at her house with guards at the door to keep Noah out and didn't know anything about the Noah/Dominic thing. Something seems off to me in that story. I guess it's possible that she just thought they weren't getting along for some other reason. (Maybe they had a history of not getting along before this particular drama. Who knows?) I haven't ever followed the Cyrus family shenanigans, so I certainly don't.

Oops. Someone in the know was quick to run to the tabs with the real tea after someone else (probably Miley) dropped the whole "Miley knew nothing about nothing" story to People!
Apparently, not only Tish went after Dominic, she KNEW Noah was dating him, and Noah was still dating him at the time he and Tish got together and he ghosted her? That poor girl. Lost her boyfriend, Mom, AND her sister, because Miley took Tish's side. Every full-grown adult in this situation is a sorry sack of [censored] and terrible human beings. While I can sympathize with Miley for being in the middle of this mess I think you can be close to your Mom without co-signing on her BS because wrong is wrong. Scarfing down your daughter's meal and then cutting her out of your life for some sorry man who will more than likely cheat on you with another twenty-something? Foul.
I remember how happy I was for Trish and Dominic when they got married. I feel dirty now, because this is disgusting. I would say this is hillbilly mess except there's a lot of fine Hill folk who would NEVER do this to a family member. This reeks of "Van down by the river!"

Christmas is sure to look different for them this year. I think Tish and Billy were all too eager to show the other they had moved on.

A looky-loo at that Broadway show took a picture of them there and posted it on Twitter, and they were in what looked like a loveseat looking super snuggly. I have a lot of platonic male friends (some extremely close) and while I'm huggy with them I have to admit that picture had a whole different vibe! With that said, they might just be extremely close and affectionate but...~I WANT TO BELIEVE~ I adore seeing older people come together and friendships growing into something more, and they had mad chemistry on Only Murders in the Building so even if something isn't happening...maybe it should? Either way, I wanted to post something that is happy and pleasant as opposed to that Trish/Dominic/Noel mess I posted earlier.

Oh, they were seriously vibing. You know how you can watch a show or movie and just tell that the actors genuinely like each other and had a good time filming the show? It was like that, and more. Granted, both Meryl and Martin are great actors and everyone on the show seems to enjoy being there, but there's a certain... something in Meryl's scenes with Martin. I remember thinking at the time "if those two don't have something going on maybe they should try it out" because they have great chemistry, plus there's a certain comfort in their scenes; even if I didn't know they were old friends I would have guessed it because the way they act together.
