A Colorful Return - (Season Premiere) In a Project Runway first, designers will be split into two teams living and working separately to create mini-collections celebrating color.
Enjoy the show!
(The premiere is at 9PM ET; they are showing the season 18 finale at 8PM, which was pretty great)

We may have had a PR first -- a designer (Darren) hitting on the mentor. Did anyone ever hit on Tim Gunn in the old days?

Lol! I don't think so!
Meg had so much screentime I was for sure that she was a goner.
Why do these designers see a curvy woman and always think 'trench coat?'

We certainly had the drama for the first show. Very concerned about Meg. I am sure they must have a number of interviews before the actual casting so I hope they insured she is strong enough to get through this. To be in tears on the 2nd day and talking about missing her mother was sad enough, but when she said her mother had been gone for 2 years and that she has battled mental health issues for years, I was very worried about her.
Bones certainly made a name for himself by being rude to Christian which I am thinking was his intent....but he did redeem himself by bailing his team mate out....maybe too much. But to make one of the top rated dresses in 1/2 hour is almost super human. He showed that he has the talent.
Looks like a good season.

The dress he made for a team mate was so much better than what he made himself. I disagreed with the judges putting his look in the top 3. I thought it was terrible! The models boobs looked terrible and were pointing in different directions. Of the top 3 I can understand why they gave him the win because he was the leader and certainly did contribute to the win. But I disagree with him saying had he not stepped in to make the dress they would have been on the bottom (the other team had more problems than just one look). And the win is going to make his head way too big and leave him believing he doesn't need Christian and can continue to dismiss him.

I am excited about this new season, but do miss Karlie Kloss. To me she's the element that is missing!

I still don't like Bones. Not only was he rude to Christian, he was also rude and obnoxious to his whole team after they named him their leader. It looks like he is going to be hot and cold toward people in the work room. Does he mean anything he says?
Yes, cool color team were scattered and I agree with Caycee going home; but overall, there were some good hints of good design both in that team and the warm color team.
My favorite designer at this point is Octavio.
P.S. this is on next day on Peacock streaming network.

It frustrates me when they do a team challenge week one. I like it better when for the first challenge they all get to show who they are.

I said her boobs are going in opposite directions. It's commendable that he threw a dress together for his teammate however you either did it for the betterment of the team or you are on an "ego" trip. The "wow wow wow" after the judges raved over Darren's (his dress) was just over the top especially since Darren gave Bones full credit & never once tried to pass it off as his own. Then not to mention his disrespect to Christian. NOPE! Didn't Andrae flirt endlessly with Tim I believe on season 2? I recall Santino making a joke about him asking Tim out on a date to Red Lobster.

It seems like there are SO many designers on these shows who claim to design for the full-figured woman, but when they actually have to MAKE something for a full-figured model, they put her in a bathrobe or some other unflattering thing that does nothing for her. Don't say you design for all body types if you can't do it, especially when one of the judges - Christian Siriano - actually DOES dress women of all sizes and he does it very well. They definitely sent home the right person.
Bones is really talented, but he needs to adjust his attitude PDQ. Hopefully, that apology to Christian was sincere. Hard to come back from a first impression like that though.

I think I remember that after the season or even later they did go out to Red Lobster, but it was still a joke. The hitting on Christian was direct and almost overt...not the same as Andrae in my opinion.

I know the Tim/Andare thing was a joke. It was so funny & cute. Those early episodes were funny...where's Andare...

Santino's Tim Gunn impression is one of my favorite things of the entire series. Tim's reaction to the whole thing was excellent too.
I definitely did miss Karlie Kloss, although I understand why she isn't involved this time. I miss Tim and Heidi more. I like Making the Cut, but it's not Project Runway.

Thank you for sharing that! Love it. I remember when that aired, man, Tim looks so young. Red lobster. Lol!

I am not a huge fan of Making The Cut. I think designers really should know how to sew. I had 4 episodes left to watch. I went to search for something for my granddaughter, a "suggestion" popped up which led me to the winner. Needless to say it was pointless to continue watching because I did not care for the designs of the winner that I had already seen. That Red Lobster scene is almost as priceless as the MF walkoff...almost! Same season by the way. Season 2 was epic in so many ways!

This episode has managed to make me dislike group challenges even more than usual. It's bad enough when it's a group of two, but 2 groups of eight? It just created a host of problems, including when someone with some sense (Bones?) suggested to the group that they try to coordinate the colors of their fabrics at Mood, only to have everyone run off and do their own thing. Also, the bigger the group, the more likely it is to have someone not pull their own weight; poor Bones was doing the work of three people just to keep his group afloat and while he was completely out of order talking to Christian like that I do like the fact that he talked to him again after the work was done and apologized. I give the lazy contestant credit for admitting Bones created his outfit to the panel, but how do you hang out outside smoking while someone else is doing YOUR work? Ugh.
Lots of nice things on the runway but the one I liked best was that red dress with a knotted top; it was interesting and the model wore it well.
I felt really bad for the girl who made the Disney dress; she was distraught and I was glad she didn't go home. I was also mad for Chasity as her team went from having flowers on the dresses before everyone agreed to use bows instead, but then at least 3 people in her group were like "Eff those bows" and not only didn't use them, also didn't discuss it with the rest of the group so she had to explain why she had a big bow on the back of her outfit. Brandon told her that sometimes you have to trust your own judgement but if you're in a competition and you're told to do something and you don't it can go very badly for you. I was really, really glad she didn't go home.

I was really, really glad she didn't go home. You've laid out a lot of the reasons why I think it's cruel of producers to do a group challenge as the very first challenge. They are all getting to know each other. They have no idea how their styles compare to everyone else and are still trying to find their way around the workroom. Nothing about it is a recipe for success!

Karlie had a baby in March, so I’d guess she was spending time at home, bonding with her little boy.

What I recall from this episode is that the other guys on the warm team spoke out to Bones about how wrong he was to disrespect Christian. He needed to be held in check. I didn't like how he represented the team but I did like how he stepped in to help Darren get his look done. The simplicity of that dress was what made it so beautiful! And so quick to sew...
