Fashion is Back, Baby! - Designers collaborate with some of New York City’s most talented accessory designers.
Enjoy the show!

This is the way to do a “team” challenge! I like when they collaborate but not with competitors.

I’m glad that the Ringling Brothers designer has been eliminated.

I'll comment on everything later but right now want to discuss something that happened that kind of upset me while watching. I wish they would really censure private conversations of a really personal nature on this show because I felt so bad for poor Zayden last night. We all have those relatives that secretly do not wish us well because I saw absolutely no point in this relative calling him to let him know eviction procedures were being pursued against him and his household as there is zilch he could do about it in NY and the relatives offhand "Just thought you should know, I'm dealing with real-life here" sealed it. Couldn't you, oh, I don't know....handle that yourself and not throw someone off their game who can't do anything about it? He's accomplished so much (getting into SCAD is NOT easy even if you're paying your way and getting a full ride is like lightning striking). That segment offered nothing to the viewer and quite frankly was none of our business; I was left feeling extremely uncomfortable and bad for Zayden.

You are so right Kao, why was that necessary? I was wondering if they were going to pick that up again. Also, there was an eviction moratorium across the nation I believe at the time they were shooting. I think they were trying to show how the pandemic is and was hard for the designers. But I think we all get it.
I wasn't thrilled with the winner's look, I really liked the Haitian look, which was stunning. At first, I thought that the first set of gloves out of the box were tacky, but he really elevated them and just made it work. I thought he had the hardest accessory.
Agreed, that Katie should have gone, it's a shame, I really see something there in her, but I think she is just too green. When she was challenged to do spooky, she did well. Before you go into color, you have to understand black and white so you understand light and shape, and the basics because sometimes color is a distraction. She should just focus on the silhouette first and get that down because if it doesn't work in one color, it won't work with prints.

Christian was so careful in his critiques of Katie this week. He must have gotten an earful from Nina. This time he quirked an eyebrow at the long dress and she didn't stand her ground. Not only did she shorten the hem she did it in hi-low fashion - a yuck for me, I hate hi-low hems. I would love to see just once she wears ear muffs and tackles a stunning silhouette with her pattern sense.

Aside from Aaron and Zaydon, I find the male designers super arrogant and annoying. Each episode it gets worse and I am using FF alot! It bugged me that Octavio and Rajje produced good looks, but I was glad neither won 😏 (I am so mean)
It was time for Katie to go home. She is super sweet, but her looks are very clownish IMO.

I think in the beginning what made this show great was that they kept the focus on fashion and modeling instead of on dramatic tv, and that made it great tv. As it’s gotten further away from the creators, they’ve strayed away from fashion and modeling and more into a highly produced tv show. The arrogance and drama are rewarded more so I think we’re stuck with it!

I don't think Katie standing her ground would have made much of a difference in the outcome and needs time to hone in her craft.
Might also be time for Bones to go, too. Given others' comments, it appears he thinks so highly of his work that it has encouraged him to go way out there, and isn't receptive to anyone else's suggestions. Too bad, for he's extremely talented.
Otherwise, the quality of the work product was so elevated for this episode. Loved it!

The good looks were great and the lower scored looks were terrible. I loved the polka dot dress as well as the pale blue dress that Rajje paired with the gloves. I thought. when I first saw the material, that the winner chose a terrible shade of green. The material walked better than it looked on the roll.
The lower scored items were pretty horrible. Bones' mistake was using material that was too heavy. If he was going with tide and sparkling sea water, he needed fabric like the three top scorers used---light material that flowed.
I know people have been kind about Katie's looks....but I cannot figure out how she got chosen. All her dresses were the same...an ill fitting dress with layers of overly colorful material piled on. While her POV was unique, I don't see it as popular or trend setting.

Your post made me laugh beerbelly as I am waiting for Nina's to say those exact words----" I think it is his taste level". Those are her famous words when somebody has exhausted her patience.

I’m so glad Katie got let go. I was seriously starting to wonder if she’s legally colorblind or if she was a plant placed on the show to create drama among the cast as the more talented contestants got eliminated before she did.
I wasn’t crazy about any of the looks, but if I had to pick a favorite, I’d pick Coral’s. What kept me from loving her design wholeheartedly was when she draped that red fabric over the accessory designer’s hat. I thought that was rude.

I was curious and looked ... Here's Katie's storefront. shop.katiekortman.com/Also, her Bravo bio. www.bravotv.com/people/katie-kortmanKatie Kortman’s muse is fine arts, and her girl is . . . herself. She is best known for her custom singular and colorful prints. Katie is married to an OB-GYN who works in the military and has four children. When her husband was moved to Bahrain, she decided to hone her sewing skills and ultimately fell in love with fashion. When her family came back to the United States, she was determined to never buy clothes again, which forced her to create and make her own clothes. She prides herself on designing ready-to-wear, colorful designs that a woman could slip on for many occasions. Most recently, her family has uprooted and moved to Japan due to her husband’s job. Katie is now focused on finding inspiration for her designs in her new cultural surroundings.

I'm glad that PR puts people like Katie on the show so that we have the opportunity to see how much of success is talent, and how much is training. Someone like her has a big disadvantage not having training in how to dress a model, do a runway show, etc. But you never know when they'll find a gem who just has the instincts for it so I'm glad that they give people like her a chance.

I totally agree with you about the men. I immediately disliked four of them during the first episode. They essentially bullied Meg into making her inappropriate comments and forcing her to quit. Disgusting! I don't know how they got a pass from production.
I also don't know how Katie was selected for the show. BUT, the greater mystery to me is what Nina saw in her Peter Pan and Holly Hobby collars and design aesthetic. It's totally out of character for Nina.

Octavio: Like him or hate him he knows how to bring the drama as his black and white creation was beautiful and flowed marvelously. However, his material did most of the heavy lifting.
Coral: Beautiful dress, and her macrame work is more of an asset than just looking childish.
Raije: If you have Cuban/Dominican/Carribean/Island relatives of a certain age you KNOW the woman he had in mind when he created this dress. I can smell her face powder and cigarettes. I loved this entire look.
Kristina: This had a very zen look that I found appealing but there were other dresses worthy of the win.
Didn't mind Katie going home because she wasn't growing like the other designers. I also deeply dislike people who pretend they've created something new and don't talk about their references that influenced them. The whole point of the Fruits aesthetic is that you build upon and add to what's already there and I hope she learns how to do that.
