Baby with a Machine Gun: After a grueling season with no food, a warm meal is up for grabs at the reward challenge; the immunity challenge is a test of focus and balance.
Enjoy the show!

Shan and Deshawn are both pretty hard to like and root for.
ETA: Okay, Deshawn is a little less dislikable after that tearful, heartfelt message. Shan though? Get her out!!

Ricard wins reward and firstly sucks up to Shan. Then picks Heather. Both haven't had reward and he then picks Xander because Xander had given up his reward twice. Danny knows Ricard is playing the jury and seems to be down to get rid of Ricard since clearly he is a threat. I'd be down with that.

That was a fast win for Ricard.
It seemed like several of them jumped into the water and didn't move! I wondered what they were doing - not swimming, barely moving at all? It was hilarious.
Ricard chooses Shan of course, Heather, and then Xander to go with him?? Hmmm.... They get to sleep in beds, and eat food!
I'm with Danny -- Ricard can go.

That's a "sanctuary"? Ricard says it's a cool shipwreck theme. I say it looks like trash! LOL I guess I was picturing more of a spa theme.

OMG these people are so stupid. Shan is playing them all and now this dumb a** girl gave up the whole plan and and has basically surrendered her game to Shan. At first she wanted to show she isn't just Shan's shadow, but now Shan played the emotional card and she will live and die with her. So, so stupid. You are playing for a million dollars. She would cut you without a thought.

This is such a difficult challenge. I feel for them!
I was about to say that once the ball moves, you can't seem to recover. But then Shan did it, over and over - recovering it. Eventually she was out though, and Ricard wins! Poor Xander, he was so close.

Down to Ricard and Xander and Ricard wins it. Now lets see if they stick with kicking Deshawn out.

I'm not even that disappointed that Ricard won, because I dislike Liana and Shan so much that I like the idea of Ricard staying and messing with that group of 4.

OMG ... Erica just ruined everything. She told Danny and now he wants her gone. Stupid. Shan is your biggest threat. Get rid of her while you have the chance and worry about the others later.

Ricard turning on Shan is awesome, but might not be such a smart play for him. If she goes, Ricard has who? Danny, Deshawn and Liana won't take him along, will Xander, Erika and Heather take him far? I wonder.
This tribal is making me nervous.

Ha! That was awesome. She was so betrayed, and I love it. Xander didn't even play his idol.

Come on ... get rid of Shan. It's a tie. Yes, that was a great blindside.
Shan is ticked at Deshawn that he blindsided her. Of course it is all right for her to blindside others, but heaven forbid they play for themselves and blindside her.

Well I am happy with the outcome.
How did Xander know he didn't need to play his idol? I liked Ricard's little speech about who can come and why to the reward. Never make the reward about your faves. And whats her name who isnt playing seemed so surprised and happy which was a moment of niceness for me. I agree DeShawns little tear fest warmed me up to a little bit. He just seemed more genuine about wanting the 4 for the cultural reasons than Shan did.

Xander has been guessing correctly and keeping his idol for three councils at least. I'm glad that they targeted a threat and did not pick off those on the bottom. I'm liking Ricard, I think knowing that he is deaf in one ear and read lips made me pay more attention to him and I respect this game move.

"I agree DeShawns little tear fest warmed me up to a little bit."
I had the opposite reaction. I'm pretty sick of this show trying to make some sort of social statement. It's a game for a million dollars, period. Just play the game and stop feeding me your particular sob story (I need to win because I'm black, gay, queer, fat, a geek, poor, blah, blah, blah).

Well it doesn't have to be a sob story or a social statement. I also warmed up to Erica a bit after her back story. And I LOVE family day episode which is often a total snooze fest for many on here. So it warmed me up a bit to him because of the seeing the underlying person in the game, it doesn't have to be a "sob" story. Which is their whole point - to make these less likeable characters more likeable by getting to "know" them. Its effective for some, not all, thats for sure.

In one sense I totally agree with mpmat40plus, there does not need to be some social statement why you want to win. I also do agree with allornothing in regards to not minding having some background for each character. However, Deshawn's moment did not move me in my opinion of him or how I want him to end. I can't stand family day, it is a wasted episode. We all have our stories, I don't need to be seeing you sob in your loved ones arms. I want to see you grovel in the mud, be miserable, make stupid moves, and play the game. This can be taken with a touch of sarcasm or not.

Just play the game and stop feeding me your particular sob story (I need to win because I'm black, gay, queer, fat, a geek, poor, female, single mom, blah, blah, blah). You forgot "female," and "single mom." We hear those terms a lot in the comments of website forums as a reason for who viewers would like to see win. I want to see the best player win regardless of their gender. And if the best player is another Stephanie who endured almost total isolation and still managed to persevere, then that's who I'd want to see win. Not because she's female, but because she earned it. (And yes, I know she didn't win. I'm just saying that she should have.)

Yes, I thought of that after I posted and your conclusion is really what I was getting at. I want someone who plays the game well to win. DeShawn's angst over potentially breaking up the "black" alliance to vote out Shan just left me cold. You want to win the million dollars, you have to make a move on the power players when you get the chance. To me, his tears were disingenuous. I much preferred Ricard's approach, which basically said, "if I want to win, I have to get Shan out even though I still count her as a close confidante and connection." He made his move and she respected it because she would have eventually had to do the same to him if she wanted to win. This, to me, was much more honest.
And truly, I don't care how you want to label yourself. Just play the game well and I will root for you.
And just as an aside here, I read that Shan has MS and had all kinds of fears about how she would deal with a flare up in the game. To me, that's a much more compelling story than her race.
