We watched, although we haven't watched in years. I thought Leah Remini did a nice job. She's the voice of untrained people, IMO.
Honestly, I mainly watched to see how they would address the leaving of "whatshisname" . . . but there was not a word. I was also trying to figure out which of the dancers complained about his contacting her and asking for her phone number. (Couldn't find her name anywhere on line.) I have a suspicion who it was, but don't know for sure.

This season continues to be confusing. The styles presented in pairs were hip hop, jazz and contemporary. They were all well danced, but that they were going to cut two to make a top 10 feels or seems really early in the process. Also, there was no rehearsal footage (because of time constraint, I suspect) but it felt weird to see them dance without seeing their rehearsal stumbles. I'm glad they all get a chance to dance again in their couples. I inferred from what was said that the pairs would stay together throughout. This is going to make it boring. Leah was all right - but - there she was; no explanation. If I hadn't read the news on the internet or in papers/magazines, I would be very confused about what she was doing there. Anyway, my jury is still out on this season.
P.S. Oh, I saw a tapper in one of the pairs in the countdown. She was sent home which may be why we didn't see her audition.

I'm watching right now and UGH, I cannot believe they put Beau in the top 12, especially over Samuel. Beau's nowhere near the dancer the others are. I'm embarrassed for him. Now watch, he freaking wins because the viewers all vote for him It kills me knowing that Nigel is probably IN the building while they're filming and he's not at the judges table. HE wouldn't have let Beau into the choreography round, much less the top 12. That routine with Anna was so basic. You expect he choreography to be "dumbed down" on DWTS, but not on this show. While this show has always been a popularity contest and sometimes (often) the best dancer doesn't win, the dancers are all usually excellent dancers. Putting in substandard dancers harms the credibility of the judges and the show. Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox. I just know there are dozens of guys who auditioned who can dance circles around Beau. I hope he's gone soon and we can get down to the excellent dancers.
ETA: Okay, Keaton is still my favorite and my pick to win.
The audience vote was not encouraging. Hopefully, things will change next week when they're given different styles.

Please stay ON your soapbox, Critical! I always look to you for commentary that can be trusted. I've always loved this show, but I'm disappointed this year. I wasn't happy with the selection process, or the way it was shown to us, or, most importantly, many of the choices of who was chosen and who would be cut. And regarding Leah, to me, her comments are just something to fast-forward past. It's as if we only have 2 judges. And, I don't know, is it just me, or did you guys feel the dance routine were, for the most part, pretty uninspired. Just kind of ho hum.

Thanks, Imperfect1 ! I sometimes feel like a party pooper, but I'm just so disappointed with the turn this show has taken. Obviously, it's always been a popularity contest and some viewers like some dancers over others, but you could generally count on the judges putting the best dancers through....or at least good dancers. The only couple that really blew me away were Keaton and Alexis. There were others who were good and maybe they'll improve. This season definitely feels weak. The auditions were SO short - they used to go to multiple cities over many episodes - and the choreography round was a joke. With only 12 dancers, the finals will be here in no time. I'm sure TPTB at Fox are to blame for the changes. Why bring the show back if they were going to do THIS to it?

Especially when we remember some of the exquisite dance routines of years past. Goose bumps! But, I have to say, as much as I complain about the way the show is run now, truth be told, I'd rather have it this way, than not at all!
