Starry Starry Night - Six of the series' favorite all-stars, including Comfort Fedoke, Lex Ishimoto, Amy Yakima, Ezra Sosa, Koine Iwasaki and Bailey Munoz, return to dance with the top six.

OK. I'm calling BS on this Beau adoration. He literally walked around the stage jumping a few times while Lex did all of the heavy lifting and danced around him. Why is everyone acting like he performed some really great moving piece of art? What are they smoking?
The dancing that Lex did was beautiful, but Beau contributed very little to the piece. How they couldn't at least agree to send him home is beyond me. What a travesty!

I'm right there with you. I read a review that praised Beau for dancing in a style that isn't his. Um, that's the whole point of the show. They're ALL dancing outside of their style! He doesn't get points for doing that.....and frankly, doing it badly. I watched most of his routine and was embarrassed for him. Lex, one of the better dancers ever on this show, wiped the floor with him.
I think they're all afraid of being accused of fat shaming Beau if they criticize him at all. The truth is that his size does impede him from doing certain things. His extensions aren't great and he gets very little amplitude in his jumps. His technique just isn't great. He'd be fine as a comedic actor in musical theater. As a DANCER? No, he can't compete. At a certain point, they're going to have to send him home. He's been in a bottom for several (2 or 3?) weeks now. They're sending better dancers home to keep him and it's making the judges look foolish.
Keaton doesn't have a traditional dancer's body - he's very bulky and muscular, like a (duh!) football player - but he's still able to perform the choreography, even outside of his style.
I'm glad they're doing same-sex routines. I've always enjoyed seeing the choreographers stretch a bit. I was happy to see Emma and Sasha choreographing this week. I've been seeing speculation for a while that they've split up (and some of it is pretty persuasive), but I hope the fact that they're still working together is a good sign. I always thought they were so sweet together. That jive they choreographed on Keaton and Ezra was so much fun!

I think you're right that they are worried about being accused of fat shaming him, but the way they are coddling him and making a big fuss over him doing things that aren't at all remarkable is really a closeted version of fat-shaming. They are "othering" him by treating him as a special case because he's fat.
I'm a fat person, and I see irritating things like this all the time. I remember a FB friend tearfully posting an "inspirational video" about a fat woman who was out speed-walking in athletic gear and saying how she had to slow down her car and cheer the woman on. She was so touched to see this woman daring to wear a form-fitting outfit and doing something about her health. (:eyeroll) She was shocked when I told her that was really offensive to me. She couldn't understand how demeaning it is to act like it's "really special" when a fat person does something that would be considered totally normal and rather unremarkable when a smaller person does it. Sigh!
