I hear about it thought it sounded silly and was not planning on watching it. Saw the trailer, looked good, will watch the premiere.
Does not look as if there are that many summer shows on. I have to finish my DVR queue.

I didn't even make it through the premiere before turning it off and deleting it from my DVR. Terrible, even with my low expectations for summer series.

Season 1 Episode 1 - "One Is the Loneliest Number" - July 10, 2018
Very much in the style of the Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess. The pacing and editing and poorly constructed sword fights and bad acting are hard to take,it could be a very camp summer fun time show if you ignore that. Dean Devlin is one of the executive producers and he has produced fun shows like Leverage and The Librarians so this show has potential.
This episode shows Talon's backstory. She is from a tribe or people called "Blackbloods" because they have black blood and elf like ears but with two points not one. She is a fierce fighter and has some kind of power she inherited from her mom. As a child some noble man paid a band of seven mercenaries called The Bones to wipe out her village. She is the only one who escaped and is now gathering information so now 13 years later she can find them and kill them. She finds the tattoo artist who tattot'ed the mercs with a unique tattoo. She finds out two names and is told that one of them is at this Outpost. Talon walks a lot to get to this Outpost. She is attacked by Plaaquelings outside the Outpost. Think zombies with tongues like the vampires in The Strain. The Outpost captain rescues her. Lots of instant chemistry between the two. Captain Garrett Spears has a big booming Shakespearian type of voice and charisma. His father is the Chief Warden of the Outpost. Some antagonism there. Talon goes to the local tavern to get a meal and a room for the night. The local brewer (they had him acting very weird) prepares her a drink, I thought he was trying to ruthie her. One of the mercs she is looking for shows up. Talon goes to her room and is followed by a girl she ends up returning to the Captain Spears. Local plotting going on here. Later in an alley Talon confronts the merc who is also a convert agent and they have a sword fight and both end up stabbing each other in the gut. A mysterious figure pulls Talon off the wall. She has been impaled by two swords and so is hanging on the wall. The merc dies but leaves a bloody message "The Dread is back"??? or what that "Dead"???

I agree with you but Matt Rousch, esteemed TV critic from the most holy of documents, The TV Guide, actually gave it a thumbs up. So I will try the second episode.

I DVR'd it, but have yet to watch. It doesn't look very good from the commercials & this is right in my wheelhouse.

I've not really ever thought of Matt Rousch as "esteemed" Maybe I'm biased against TV Guide. My biggest issue with the show was that the lead actress was terrible. Yes, the plot was convoluted and ridiculous, but if the cast is really good, I'll go with it. I thought she was awful and wooden and the show itself had a very amateurish feel to it. They clearly went on looks and not talent. Maybe she'd be better in another role, but this was a definite miscast.

Captain Spears, the General, the Gate Marshal, the Wolf/blacksmith, all have weight and are making the most with their scenes and dialogue. The Brewer, the squint face is awful and I don't know what he is trying to do. The female barkeep owner is OK as is her drug supplier. mmm....if the lead could carry the scene as well as these other actors you could just go along with it. The lead, is it part bad acting, extremely stupid character development, as well as stupid story or a combination of all of it? She is spoiled brat and stupid. It is painful to watch.

I am also watching Reverie on NBC with Sarah Shari and this is good.
It's a fun premise and some episodes seem clique but others have enough of a twist on them that it keeps you guessing.

Finally finished this season. This is simply a horrible show and does not have the camp and fun "The Legends of Hercules" or "Xena, The Warrior Princess" had. You don't have to have a big special effects budget you need a decent story, decent world building and decent acting. This show had none of that. Some shows are so bad I will watch just to poke fun act. That brings back memories of Surface and my entirely too long posts ripping apart each episode. It was so bad it was fun. I cannot say that about "The Outpost", watching this show was a miserable slog.
