Last week, I started a party in General Discussion, but this party seems more fit for the Food & Lifestyle forum. What kind of coffee do you like? When did you start drinking it? Did you like coffee right away or did you have to grow into it?
I never thought I would like coffee. I hated it when I got Halloween candy that looked like a root beer hard candy but was really coffee flavored. I liked the smell of coffee, though, so I didn't mind it at my first job when I was asked to start the coffee when I came in the morning. I discovered that I liked Mocha Fudge ice cream, then Mocha Swiss Miss hot chocolate, followed by chocolate-covered espresso beans. Eventually, I started drinking the Mochalatta Chill from Cinnabon, then an iced mocha from Barnie's, until finally I was a full-blown coffee fan. I can't drink it black, but I like it hot, cold brew, iced, or frozen. Espresso-based creations, like cappuccino, are my favorite, not so much plain coffee.
**Shoot! I just realized I forgot to add Espresso drinks (including Lattes, Cappuccinos, etc) to the poll! I don't think you can edit a poll so I guess it would have to be included with hot, although regular coffee and espresso drinks are very different!

I honestly don't remember when I started drinking coffee daily. I guess sometime in my 20s. For years I would brew in an automatic coffee maker and add milk and a packet of Sweet N Low. About 8 years ago I gave up the artificial sweetener and instead of milk I add the sugar free flavored coffee creamers. During the hotter months I do enjoy an occasional frozen frappe coffee from Dunkin Donuts, usually with caramel syrup and topped with whipped cream, of course. I despise the taste of Starbucks coffee.

I like plain black hot coffee, nothing added to it. I like to taste pure coffee. Some of my favorite brands are Dunkin Donuts and Tim Hortons. McCafe is another good ground coffee.

I admire the pure black coffee drinkers. I like coffee with a sweetener and milk and probably a piece of a chocolate. Overall my problem with coffee is that it’s almost the substrate for something sweet rather than a thing in itself. I honestly wish I could get rid of my sugar addiction and enjoy coffee with cream or even just with a little Splenda. And to think that my sugar addiction started with coffee and half an Oreo cookie…( the chocolate part with the vanilla scraped off).

And to think that my sugar addiction started with coffee and half an Oreo cookie…( the chocolate part with the vanilla scraped off). I can relate. I need caffeinated coffee in the morning to wake up. But I first eat breakfast, followed immediately by a huge mug of coffee with coffee creamer. Sometimes sugar -free, sometimes not. I cut out Sweet N Low about 8 years ago. However, my downfall is that I MUST have something sweet with my coffee: a few cookies, a doughnut, muffin, a piece of cake, etc. Mind you, I've already eaten my cereal,or scrambled eggs, or whatever breakfast was. I certainly don't need those extra calories. But to me morning coffee goes with something sweet. I'll have a 2nd cup later in the morning with no snack. I try to rationalize the sweet treat by usually not eating lunch. I can't drink unsweetened coffee and I don't think sugary coffee creamer is healthy, but short of sugar, what is there? I'd advise against the Splenda. They have recently found that Stevia isn't good for you, either.

I love iced the most…with almond milk.
But sometimes I like it hot with a tad of creamer

I like my coffee hot. Even in the Summer. However, I do like those cheap frozen ones out of the machine at the gas station. I'm such a connoisseur. I like mine with cream/milk with no sugar. I do occasionally like those bottled flavored sweetners in mine. Not often enough to keep it in the house, but if I'm at someone else's house & it's offered, I gladly enjoy one.

I liked the flavored creamers more when I first started drinking coffee. Now, I often find them too sweet so I would rather have half and half in my coffee.
