I love this show! It reminds me of when I was Latin social dancing a lot and how much I enjoyed watching the performances at the conventions and workshops.
But I do take issue about how the ladies have to pay for the men's travel and accommodations. I've never heard of such a thing. It doesn't sound accurate. I do agree that leads are in short supply, and I could imagine it would be the same to find a dance partner, but to basically pay someone like that! That's crazy! Any dancers out there that corroborate this?

Yah, that seems extreme. What do they get for winning? Just a trophy or is there money involved? I started watching it last night. I'm hooked now

I enjoy seeing them dance. I got my medals for ballroom dancing, but I was too young to have to pay for a male partner, Im not sure I would.

Any dancers out there that corroborate this? I'm pretty sure it's accurate, cause it's not that uncommon to have to pay for someone's time and travel expenses in many other professions and other types of jobs as well. After all, when you hire someone to do work for you, and that person has to travel on YOUR behalf, (and that person isn't able to earn any money by working for anyone else during that time period), they wouldn't make very much money (if any) if they had to pay for their own travel expenses and accommodations as well, to work solely for YOU during that time period. I have that provision in my contracts that if I have to travel to do work for a client, the client has to pay my travel expenses as well as my hourly fees --- otherwise I would never be able to afford to do that. In the case of these ballroom pros, I think the amount of money spent on the pro's travel expensive seems so shocking because the couples are traveling soooo often -- that it really does add up to being a lot of money, mostly because of how often they travel. For me, it's once in a blue moon, so it doesn't seem all that unreasonable.

But at the same time, I was thinking that the man and the lady were professionals and they just decide to get together and compete. that’s a horse if it’s a different color, I’m sure. But at the same time, I was thinking that the man and the lady were professionals and they just decide to get together and compete. Period there was a time when myself and another guy started practicing together so we thought that it would be really cool to see if we can get really good at it, and possibly compete, of course, under the tutelage of our instructor. I guess those type of competing couples don’t exist in competitive ballroom and Latin dancing? Like I said, it’s been a long while since I’ve been in the dance scene. LOL like I said, it’s been a long while since I’ve been in the dance scene.

I love this show. Sabrina gets on my nerves. I like pretty much all the other ladies. I think it sucks that Donie gets judged on her appearance, she's a great dancer! I was glad that Colette placed above Pooja.

Yeah, these are "Pro / Am" dance competitions - (Professional / Amateur) I wonder how many Pro/Am couples exist where the woman is the professional and the man is the amateur. Leonie has such an interesting look. For one thing, I find her short bob hair style to be strange and not particularly attractive when she's walking around in her real life, but when she's dancing, her hair (and the way it bounces around) is totally fascinating to watch.
