William Shatner delivers tasks to celebrities, who must spend an insane and hilarious summer on “Mars”; their mission is to colonize, compete and conquer their new galaxy surroundings, until there is just one “celebronaut” left standing.
Tonight is episode 2. I didn't even know this existed, but was passing through and recognized a star, though not many of them. It looks like it might be fun! They are on "Mars" which apparently is somewhere out in Australia that looks very desert-like and creepy. Lance Armstrong is one of the stars, and one of the other contestants actually said "He's Lance Armstrong, a REAL astronaut!" LOL (He's the bike racer, not Neil Armstrong the astronaut) He tells the camera that since Neil is deceased, he's glad to be Lance Armstrong. Marshawn Lynch is funny, in a big football player kind of way. Richard Sherman comments that this bunk bed is smaller than his in jail!

I'm a science fiction super fan and am passionately interested in pretty much anything about the cosmos, but I couldn't get through even the 1st episode of this series. I think the idea of the show was great, and the set and surroundings were really well done, BUT why did they have to dumb it sooooo far down that it was just stupid! And painful to watch. Darn, what a waste of a great idea!

Yeah, some of it is pretty dumb. I thought some parts were tongue-in-cheek, purposely making fun of itself though, and not too serious. I didn't mind it, and if they can laugh at themselves, I'll gladly laugh at them too!

By the way, if any one's interested in seeing a really, really terrific movie about trying to colonize Mars, here's one: THE MARTIAN starring Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain. One of the most enjoyable and exciting and fun films I've ever seen!

Watched episode 1 last night.
It dumb, it stupid, we are doomed.
We put celebrities and athletes so high in our societal hierarchy as if they these brilliant gems of humanity and yet they are dumb as dirt.
Can you imagine the apocalypse?
I wish Shatner would push the sarcasm even more when he communicates to these folks.
It is a trainwreck. Will watch episode 2.

I just finished the second episode and continue to find this show rather ground breaking, funny and sad at the same time. It's like a mash-up of Big Brother and Survivor.
I was happy to see I knew the majority of the cast and the "host" is perfect as is the setting.
I recommend it if only for the unintentional comedy.

Episode 3 - Fire in the Habitat
The bottom three were spot on. Both Richard and Marshawn, the football players deserved to be there and Richard basically said to eliminate him.
I do like that the comedienne who was also in the bottom three stated "I don't eat as much" compared to the two football players as a reason to keep her.
To be honest both Richard and Marshawn could have been eliminated and neither brings much to the table.
Ariel and Tashanee noticed that their are cliques/alliances forming.
Rhonda was very upset Richard went home. She misses her baby. It has only been 5 days folks.

I just caught up with this latest episode. Even though it was fake, I felt bad about all the dead plants!! Rhonda took it hard too, after babying her plants for providing food. And even though the "fertilizer" was fake and gross on purpose, it still seemed stinky. I wouldn't want to do it either! The football players really seemed to be struggling by being there. But, to blame them for just holding the ladders when they were ASSIGNED to hold the ladders, was just silly. I'm glad that Richard basically bowed out. Though I don't think Tanishe shouldn't be blamed for it, just because people will miss him, and liked him. It's an interesting show -- not great, but fine filler for summertime.

This latest episode was a good one! I liked how many of them were digging deeper with their emotions and personal struggles, and even though two went home (because of it?), they were really good sports. I was also glad to see the cliques that were being talked about, didn't really act extremely cliquey.
Now we're getting four new players! Maybe now we'll see some of the cliques start to exclude others and favor their original group.
They really cut it close with their challenges, it seems. They're always seconds away from failing, and I think once they did fail it. Keeps it interesting! lol

Episode 5 - July 10, 2023
Seriously what was so wrong with what Lance saying that trans women should compete in their own category? I wonder if much was not shown? I was surprised that Ariel and Adam were the ones who drank the Kool aide. Porsha is the diplomat in the room.
Ariel and Adam's comments about levels of testosterones made no sense. If all trans women compete in a trans woman category who cares about what level of testosterone you have.
How that entire conversation was portrayed is weird as there was one sentence from Lance, a sentence from Ariel, and a sentence from Adam. If the show runners want to show controversy and drama then show controversy and drama do not half ass it. This was even worse than that it was more like an eight of an ass.
As far as the rescue mission.
Glad there were no eliminations this week.
Ariel takes this seriously as if they are really on Mars. While in the waiting room she asked the newbies to be quiet so they could hear the base commander and the newbies took that as being bossy and targeted her. If this was really Mars, the girl is right to take it seriously as it can be a life or death situation.
Luv how all these former male athletes get so angry when someone tells them what to do.

For any Bachelor/BIP fans, one of the new contestants is weepy Ashley Iaconnetti (no Jared though). I kind of laughed when I saw her there, but in the few minutes she was on, she seemed fine. The Iron Chef, Cara, was on that dancing show with Tyler Cameron (Dirty Dancing takeoff). They're excited for some real cooking now that she's on Mars! Andy Richter also arrived, and an NBA player that I don't know (Paul somebody).
Ariel has sure been rubbing some people the wrong way! Paul the NBA player for one! I don't find her nearly as likable as some of the other people there. And her beef with Lance is weird, I didn't understand most of what they showed us.
We'll see how the new people affect the dynamic there, and if any fireworks are going to go off! If so, Ashley might cry....

Only 6 more episodes to go.
Don't make me all excited and think Rhonda is going to go and you save her.
I know Ariel and Lance don't get along but what is up with Lance and Ariel almost getting into blows (per Lance) and it being the bone of contention this week. If there was a blowup the showrunners should have shown it. As it was Lance made a comment about he thought trans gender women should compete in their own category and not against biological women. Ariel and Adam took offense at that comment, however again the showrunners did not show more commentary from their side. Maybe it is too hot a topic but they decided to show it and then only showed one sentence from Lance, and facial reactions from Porsha, Ariel, and Adam, and Ariel and Adam commenting how that was not right and it depends on levels of testosterone. That is all we viewers see and somehow it blows up into this huge fight during them deciding on who should be the base commander this week.
I do find it telling that Lance, Marshawn, and Paul all big men, former athletics are so against a 5 foot nothing female. I don't live with her but they all say she is bossy. However, I have seen this in the workplace when women try to lead a team this is exactly what happens, the men and some women talk smack about her.
I do give Marshawn credit for trying to talk civilly to Ariel after the first base commander meeting.
You can tell Lance totally disrespects Ariel and likes to push her buttons. This man is not a team player.

Yes, I think Cat Korra is a vindictive bitch and a piss poor player. Last week she was in the bottom three but was saved. I don't think she was in any danger of being eliminated but she sure made sure that everyone knew she was upset being in the bottom three. This week she was the base commander and put Andy Richer in the bottom three (he was the base commander last week and had her in the bottom) and made sure he was eliminated. I don't understand why Marshawn or Paul are not eliminated both NBA players (retired) are lazy, have an attitude, and generally don't contribute anything. The other reality players understand they are there to participate and not be boring.
I was kinda hoping that Cat and Lance would fail saving the mission and Cat would have been sent home as Base Commander.
Does Adam Rippon use botox? How does his skin look so smooth and poreless?

^I agree about Cat, Bearcata, she really was awful. They tried to make it seem like Andy wasn't listening to her, but others have had trouble hearing in their helmets, and Andy did what he was supposed to do, so he was basically just a scapegoat. She claimed it was NOT personal, but it absolutely was. Why would they even let her be commander? That was dumb on their part, since she had just gotten there (and showed what a terrible attitude she had). I did agree that Ariel should not have been the helper to the commander (can't remember what it's called), because she seems to not want to be put at risk. She's not very likable either. Adam does look smooth. I'd be willing to bet he has done something to help out, to keep looking pretty. He's tired of being in the bottom 3 all the time, thinking they just believe he's an easy choice. I agree that he's being overlooked a lot, which may be dangerous. I like Porsha! She cracks me up, and seems to (usually) have a good attitude about the show and the campy aspects of it. I wonder if it's almost over. How many episodes left? And when was this filmed, does anyone know?

Porsha understands what it is to be a reality star and how to present oneself on the screen and not to upset people. The woman can read a room.

Stars on Mars Season 1 Episode 9 - "We Are Not Alone" August 7, 2023
Marshawn tried to tell Porsha that they (Marshawn and Paul) had decided Paul was going to be Mission Specialist so Paul would be safe. To me Marshawn and Paul as retired NBA players come across as entitled and lazy and don't give a crap. I would have a hard time depending on either to save my life much less save the mission.
Cat Kora is upset Lance left as they are best buddies and he was her ride and die. She told Paul that she would get him to be Base Commander next mission.
Personally; Cat, Marshawn, and Paul can all go out the airlock.

Season 1 Episode 10 - Downward Dog - August 14, 2023
Paul was the base commander with Cat Korra the Mission Specialist. I was sad Ariel left, she almost nominated herself. I mean Marshawn Lynch does the bare minimum, horses around, and does not take it seriously. He is skating by. It is very obvious at least to me as a viewer that if several others had fought for their places instead of volunteering to go home Marshawn would have been the person going. Ariel is uncomfortable doing stuff outside, but she tried. I do think she felt she would be doing outside missions from now on and did not want to do that, so instead of being uncomfortable and doing things outside her comfort zone she sent herself home. Just because you fall over a rock in a dark tunnel is not the reason you should be sent home. I am hoping the winner is either Tinashe or Prosha at this point.

Season 1 Episode 11 - "Distress Signal" - August 21, 2023
It was a fun mission with the 6 remaining players putting themselves into two teams of three each. Somehow the only two people who knew the order of the planets; Adam and Tinashe, were on separate teams else this would have been a blow out for one of the teams.
Shocker, the level of education that some people have.
Surprise, the winning team finds William Shatner wandering around Mars and takes him back to base camp.
Porsha, Tinashe, and Marshawn have to set up a tent and camp overnight on the surface of Mars. In middle of the night the campers get a message that there is only enough oxygen for two people to stay in the tent and one has to walk back to the base and will be safe. I am surprised Porsha did not fight for this. Tinashe went back on the strength that she was the only person who knew the order of the planets.
This is where to me Porsha shows great initiative and tells Marshawn they need to fill their airtanks with the remaining oxygen and walk back to camp. Marshawn rather sleep. Which is why I say he is a mission anchor not mission critical. Porsha should have left him behind.
It is a choice between Porsha and Marshawn. I am surprised that Cat did not try to save Marshawn but the vote would have been a tie at that point. Marshawn is a lazy ass. He takes absolutely no initiative. He will do what you ask but that is it. That is not the brightest star. I feel Paul is in the same category.
I am surprised that the show did this twist instead of simply eliminating the losing team during the mission challenge. However there will still be a three person purge in the final episode leaving two players for the final vote/selection of Brightest Star.

Season 1 Episode 1 - "Brightest Star" - -August 28, 2023 There was a two part elimination this episode. Part One: All five stars were asked to think up questions of the others as to why they were mission critical and then vote on everyone giving a rating of 1 to 5. Tanashe was picked first. Porsha was picked second. Adam was picked third. The three discussed how they ranked everyone. Adam and Porsha both rated Cat Kora over Paul. Tanashe did not. Both Porsha and Tanashe felt Cat was not in it for the right reasons. That Cat would win by any means possible. (Like sending Andy for extraction because of revenge not because he was the least mission critical.) The ladies also didn't like how Cat stated she cooked for everyone like it was a big favor she was doing. That really did not sit well with Porsha and Tanashe.
To be honest I don't think Adam deserved to be there as he did not really volunteer to do extra work or be Base Commander that much while both Porsha and Tanashe and Ariel when she was there really threw themselves into the process/experiment.
Part Two: The remaining three slept overnight in the HAB and next morning suited up and had a Mars Trivia test. I only missed two answers. Adam qualified with enough correct answers first, then Tanashe. Porsha left the HAB to be extracted. Both Adam and Tanashe had to drive to where two satellites were and hook it up to a series of solar panels, then hook up 6 more wires on the satellite, raise the satellite and insert their message to the world. Whomever completed this mission first became the Brightest Star.
Adam bragged about never reading instructions and although he had hooked up 5 cables they were not the correct cables so he had to go back and read the directions. At this point Tanashe had caught up to Adam and passed him but when she had to install the wiring on the satellite both Tanashe and Adam had trouble. Adam figured it out first and finished the mission and sent his message and received the Brightest Star Patch.
Overall this was a silly summer show and I think needed to edit more content into each episode. It was fun and it showed famous people put into an awkward situation and some did not handle it very well. I didn't mind Lance Armstrong. I didn't care much for the basketball and football stars as I felt they were lazy and not trying very hard and they rested on their laurels and felt that they didn't have to do much. Cat was way too abrasive and competitive, but the way she handed being in the bottom and lashing out at Andy Richer was not nice. I thought Ariel would win this. I wish she had stayed.

^ Yes! I agree with everything you said, well until the Ariel part (because I just didn't like her). Adam as a winner was just okay. He never seemed like the "Brightest Star" really, like the girls did, but I was okay with it. He benefited from being in a good group of people throughout the season, who didn't target him, then he did come through and win things in the end. Porsha was a great personality to have on this show, she really added a lot! Tinashe was a surprise to me, since I didn't know her before, but I ended up liking her - and she sings beautifully! Adam liked to tell us how competitive he is, but we didn't see as much of that as I thought we could. The quiz they had to take on their tablets was interesting! I didn't mind the way they did the final eliminations. Having to spend the night outside in that bubble, seemed so weird, and kind of scary. Where did they go to the bathroom? Aren't there animals out there? Then sending one person back out in the dark, to drive back, seemed scary too. I had to laugh at how quickly Tinashe got dressed and left, and Porsha was a good sport and laughed too. I wondered why Shatner didn't have to put on the helmet and suit, to play along with the Mars theme -- was he too old for it all?

I wondered why Shatner didn't have to put on the helmet and suit, to play along with the Mars theme -- was he too old for it all? Porsha was a gem. She gets this is her job and knows her job is to entertain not cause controversy per the Lance conversation about trans people and sports. I myself don't mind a little controversy as it is always interesting to see how various people think and it is good for ratings.
Tinashe was also a gem.
Ariel didn't bother me, but I was not living with her 24/7. I did think Ariel was wound a bit tight and I was sad that she could not push past her comfort zone.
I do think Adam rode on the girls coat tails and his strategy was not to make himself a target. While the girls were not afraid to get into the experiment and truly participate at least that is what Ariel did.
I too wondered about the bathroom bit.
As for Shaddy Daddy:
1. He is Shaddy Daddy. 2. That was a solid hologram.
3. That was an android.
4. That was an alien, maybe a true Martian.
