Good Morning.....did anyone get a chance to see this? I thought the beginning was a bit slow but then half way in all of a sudden it started moving right along. I love anything with AA in it! It appears AA/Camille had a very dysfunctional upbringing. Money did not appear to be an issue, personalities did. Here is a recap of the first episode to clear any questions up. www.vulture.com/2018/07/sharp-objects-recap-episode-1-vanish.html

Adora is a monster. She was horrible in the book, but to see that character come alive on screen is even more jarring.

Spoiler for finale: What did you all think about the ending? I had not read the book, so it came as a surprise. I was very disappointed that the flash backs in the credits were so brief. It wasn't until I saw a screenshot someone posted online that I saw Mae clinging onto the fence. The "don't tell mom" line was unforgettably eerie, and I loved the final shot of Amma as the woman in white going into the woods.

I was hoping Mae might survive in the TV adaptation, but alas no. I didn’t mind how short the mid-credits scene, because it was confirmation what a brutal damaged girl Amma was. She’d already admitted guilt with the teeth in the dollhouse. The cycle of rage in that family is unimaginable. Good that Camille got to start her own healing process in the penultimate episode, and continue through much of the finale. But what a gut punch to think that she was getting clear of the madness only to realize she’d brought it with her into her own home.

Brought it with her into her own home and, thus, was “responsbile” (in some way) for Mae’s death.
I wasn’t surprised it was Amma. She was almost an active participant in Adora’s Munchasen-by-proxy in some ways, as she liked the attention from her mother. She killed those “lost girls” her mother gave attention to out of this jealousy. And she killed Mae because she was jealous that Camille and the Currys were paying positive attention to her and her dreams of being a reporter (like Camille) while not overly praising (and even questioning) Amma’s stated goal of being a tv correspondent. She was a manipulative person who needed the spotlight. Plus there was no way Adora pulled out those teeth - she was too cold a person for that act. The tooth floor was a nice touch. And indicative of her sociopathic ways, keeping treasures from her kills.
I wish there had been a final wrapping up episode. Showing Amma being arrested, Camille’s response to the situation, the aftermath in Wind Gap etc. Maybe take out some of those “Camille driving pensively” moments - could have had a whole extra hour there.

I watched this series all in one day yesterday. Wow. Extremely intense. I haven't read the book but I want to now. That quick flash of Amma killing the girls was chilling. I wasn't actively trying to figure out who the killer was b/c I was taking in everything else. But it made so much sense. When the Mom was arrested for the killings that should have been the give away since I didn't think she did it.
Did Adora know her daughter was the killer?
