No, it should be 6.99 without commercials.

Is that $4.99 with commercials and $9.99 without commercials? There's a thread for Discovery Plus in Other Reality Shows with info: ------------------- Farmhouse Fixer - I really like this show. I didn't realize who the host was at first (Jonathan Knight of New Kids On The Block, which explains his scrappy South Boston accent and manners lol). I mostly like it because all of the renos are done to gorgeous old New England farmhouses (sometimes Revolutionary War old). It feels like every other reno show for the last several years has taken place in Texas or the South.

Farmhouse Fixer Season 1 Episode 5 - A Bakeshop Kitchen - March 31, 2021 Con: It was a three bedroom 1 full bath upstairs and a powder room on downstairs and they made it a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, and a powder room house. How does this make sense.
Like they couldn't make the master closet the master bathroom suite? It was located next to the upstairs bathroom so the plumbing was not that far away.
Con: they build a doghouse for $2,400. Really? This is a a something extra for the home owner and you are billing her for it? Also the doggie day care guy was very specific stating the dog house needs to be on a raised platform and you put the dog house on the grass.
Con: You removed the from hedge and left mud. With a budget of $180,000 a bit of topsoil and grass seed would be appreciated.
Pro: Luv the color of the house. The French blue was nice.
Pro: The color palette was nice, blues, blue-greens, white, and grey.
Pro: Luv'ed the foyer, luv'ed the dining room, nice wallpaper, luv'ed the kitchen. Overall excellent.
Pro: Luv'ed the master bedroom and bathroom. Luv'ed the bathroom floor, and vanity. This part of the design was great.

Farmhouse Fixer Season 1 Episode 6 - The Horse Farmhouse - April 7, 2021
Big house, little house, back house, barn. This was a big project and I must admit I like it.
Refinishing and staining the wood floors a darker brown was a smart decision. The kitchen looked like an English farmhouse kitchen. In fact it looked very much as if it was the original kitchen.
The sunporch was a fabulous renovation, with the vaulted ceilings, the brick floor, and using is as a breakfast nook, or game table as needed and the seating area would be the perfect place to laze away a winter day and perfect for napping.
The club house. When the designer was painting the color swatches on the paneling I was hoping they would pick the charcoal black one (at least that is what is looked like on my tv screen). Amazing how with paint, electricity, some lighting the club room just oozed being a huggable club room.
This episode ends season 1.
I think I must be the only person who misses it when someone uses a NKOTB song phrase in a converstation.

Rock the Block - Season 2 Episode 5 - Rock the Exteriors - April 5, 2021
Looking at the overall site where all four homes are being built I see a big problem. None of the houses have a backyard, they are placed at the very edge of a bit of a dip/ravine that ends up as water. What idiot builds what are obviously family homes with NO BACKYARD? So Stupid. Who is going to buy that home? It's not as if these homes are in a community with any kind of amenities. Again, how stupid.
Stupid number two is David and Tiffany deciding not to do anything in their backyard. Design has it's place but this team does not want to win this competition as they don't do function.
Stupid number three is Alison taking out a perfectly good concrete walkway and replacing it with pea gravel. Really, you try walking in heels in pea gravel. So stupid. I think this design choice devalues the property.
Good choice: the teams that chose to stain their porches.
Good choice: the teams that decided to put in a screened porch. This is the south baby, doesn't any designer on this show watch House Hunters or Love it, List it. You need a screened in porch the further south you go in this country.
Good choice: Adding stairs to the back deck to access the lower patio and backyard.
Personally I felt this challenge sucked because of the land allocation to the front of the home and not the back.
David and Tiffany: Liked the look of the house. Liked the chocolate front porch. Liked the front landscaping. Total fail not doing anything in the backyard and leaving it trashed and ungraded. Total fail not taking advantage of the view. Total fail not doing anything on the back deck or back patio, just a total fail. No way would they win the Rock the Exteriors Challenge and deservely came in last.
Brian and Mika: Liked the look of the house. Liked that they actually created a usable level space in the front of the house. Liked that they thought about and created a fire pit in the back. Smart to connect the upper back deck with the lower back patio with a staircase. Liked the glass wall balcony on the back deck. Liked the idea of the pergola, and ceiling fan, and ceiling that can close and open. Agree with the judges, the style of the pergola jarred against the style of the house.
Nate and Jeremiah: Liked the look of the house. Liked that they did something for the front landscaping that was different. Liked they stained the front porch. Liked they extended the marble floor to the porch. Liked they screened the front porch. For folks that are working from home can you imagine using the front room and front porch as your office? Liked that they landscaped the one side yard and created access to the basement rental unit. Liked they did at least a sitting area on the back patio. Totally unimpressed with the staging and lack of imagination on the back deck. Any of the posters of the website could have done it. Phoned in.
Mike and Alison: Liked the look of the house. Liked the stained front porch. Liked the plantings, yes did seem a bit sparse. Total fail taking out a concrete walkway and replacing it with pea gravel. Walk with heels in that. It is a stupid idea. Good for a garden bed not a family home front entry. Liked the backyard retaining wall. Like the low maintenance of the area and the scrubs will provide privacy. Liked the grill and furniture on the back patio. Not impressed with the back deck, or did they even show it.

No Demo Reno - three episodes in and enjoying it. Nice to see two makeovers during the hour. I like that the average renovation so far is around $50,000 and that covers a lot of rooms.
Luv what paint, new floors, furniture, and tile can do. The bathroom and kitchen renovations are amazing. The designer, Jenn Todryk, is frugal with the budget, resells the home owners old stuff, like cabinets and countertops to stretch the budget. One front office was totally transformed with paint and adding trim to the wall and a new light fixture. The media room in the same home was transformed with paint, new carpet, and furniture, selling an armoire media cabinet, and installing a tiled dry bar area. A MA ZING.

David and Tiffany were taking down wallpaper or up? I hope Nate and Jeremiah are redoing the master bedroom. They also get to see each other’s houses. Can’t wait.

I was happy with the winner, mostly because they made the most functional house, and the most versatile one to make design changes to without having to gut the whole place.
I was rooting for Nate and Jeremiah, but their house was too fancy and fussy, even if they had the best basement AND that gorgeous screened porch.
David & Tiffany's house was too offbeat. I liked the layout ideas, but I would change half the colors/finishes, and that master bath wasn't for me. Plus no backyard.
Allison & Mike had the best kitchen, and for me that was about it. That putting green...UGH! And big honking corbels don't really impress me. Also, am I the only one who wasn't blown away by the Ombre tile/grout effect? It's impressive for a minute, but after a while it starts to look like a mildew effect, lol.
Brian & Mika's house wasn't the prettiest, and the bowling alley was a gimmick, but they had the most local buyers in mind with their layout ideas. Definitely the most functional house for the average family.
I wish I could take parts of each house and make one perfect one. If you took out all of the staging furniture, I might buy Nate & Jeremiah's and redo the kitchen into something more homey, and maybe redo the master suite -- I'd get rid of all the indoor drapes and do something better with the walls.
Or I would buy Brian & Mika's and look into the cost of removing the bowling alley, and making the basement more functional.
Overall it was a good season. Having design teams was an improvement, and it was good to see some hosts on a different show.

Rock The Block:
I was ok with the winner . I wish I could pick from all the houses and make one.
I guess they didn’t miss the shower heads missing in their bathroom. Did love the laundry room and the closet was ok but of course loved Alison closet. Didn’t like the bowling alley at all and would have just preferred Alison’s basement with the extra walk in closet down there. Also loved Brian and Mike’s kitchen with all that storage.
I’m glad David and Tiffany took that wall paper down. Didn’t like the pink on the floor either. Wonder why we didn’t see the other rooms done? There had to be another bathroom upstairs for the other 2 bedrooms so not sure why one of them needed another bathroom. It would make the bedroom small.
Did not like Nate and Jeremiah’s theatre room. Curtains again...ugg makes the room small. Reminded me of something Trading Places would have done...lol people’s necks would get sore looking up at that little tv . Where is the 100” tv my husband would say.
Didn’t like Brian and Mike’s exercise garage. All I kept thinking was a child falling out that big open garage door. Doesn’t it get hot there in the summer even with the doors open. Plus I’m thinking of those bugs you would be fighting off while exercising. The green truffle was ugly too. Put me in the air conditioning.
I hope Alison doesn’t come back if they have a season 3.

Speaking of David/Tiffany's pink design...I get Dwell Mag in my newsfeed and there is a pink (very desired) house for sale in the millions in LA. I guess pinks are in. I was surprised at the winner, yet not surprised once we saw all the houses one after the other. They did have a glass barrier behind the garage door opening to the exercise room, but I agree the bugs would keep me out, plus you have to go outside to get there, and if it is pouring...The bowling alley was a gimmick, but so was Allison's putting green. I'm not fond of the busy-ness of David/Tiffany's wallpapers and glad they took out the third busy design in that small bathroom. Love Nate and Jeremiah's finishing, but not for family oriented buyers. I do appreciate they are the only ones to screen in something, if only the front porch. I loved the brick arch over the stove in Allison/Mike's kitchen and the walk through butler pantry in Nate/Jeremiah's home. Like you all, if I could combine my favorite pieces from each...sigh
Oh, I think what won it for Mika/Brian was the laundry room upstairs (huge) connected to both the master closet and the hallway.

Rock the Block Season 2 Episode 6 - Rock the Finale - April 12, 2021
Well was underwhelmed with the winner. This was a design show and none of the designers won.
I hate that the back yards were so small and some chose to do nothing.
David and Tiffany - seriously no one thought they would win. Massive fail not doing something on the back deck and patio to take advantage of the lake view. Overall, they had massive fun, and had some outrageous ideas. There is a certain point however I HATE when builders/designers keep adding rooms. The house ends up feeling like a rabbit warren and you just want to get out. At times space is space appreciate it.
With all their cabinet space in the kitchen I don't think a dedicated pantry was needed.
Nate and Jeremiah - I felt may have overbuilt for the area, but when one of judges said "if you remove all the antique furniture, the features are what folks are looking for".
Still hate the crappy closet systems.
Still hate the drapes in the master bedroom.
Still think the brass shelving in the kitchen a waste of space.
Still think the basement apartment weird for having no refrigerator and no washer dryer.
Front porch and front room still rule.
Alison and Mike - Overall liked the house but I think the back deck and patio needed a staircase. The putting green could easily have the holes filled and you have a very low maintenance backyard.
Mika and Brian - I felt when the winners were announced it was almost set up that way because of their names on the street sign. I liked that they added a gym but where will people store their stuff. The house is full of rooms and bathrooms, where do you put your stuff, that is what the third garage is for. What is the point of hiring a designer if boring form is going to win over design. I kinda feel as if HGTV pulled a fast one over the viewers.

Not just the laundry room but the connectivity of the back deck to the lower patio to the workout room. However like the judges said that deck would have been a knockout if all the paneling was glass. Still hate the master bathroom shower with missing shower heads. That is so not functional. Need multiple shower heads ASAP.

Hometown - Season 5 Episode 13 - Family Values - April 11, 2021
Ben's brother Jesse and his wife, Lauren get a house.
Luv'ed the color of the house itself, it was teal and blue. Very bold.
The couple is not afraid of color and loves the 60's and 70's retro look color palette. OK some folks may not like the bold green on all the kitchen cabinets, but as newly weds and only having to please themselves why not go a little wild.
There were a lot of bold, dark colors but Erin does balance it with white trim. I really liked the floor to ceiling cabinetry in the kitchen, the vaulted ceiling in the eat in area, and the banquet.
The master bathroom of course was a huge improvement over the original.
Erin announces she is pregnant with a little girl and Lauren is also pregnant.

Home Town Season 5 Episode 14 - Country House, City House - April 18, 2021
Glad they couple kept the green color of the house. I didn't know you could paint aluminum siding. Trimming back the overgrown landscaping and removing some of the bushes by the front walkway really opened up the view of the house and framed it nicely. The house had a nice front walkway and landing spot. I am glad they got rid of that weird overhand over the front door. I don't know if the house really needed copper gutters and downspouts but that and the little pergola over the front door and rain chains was charming. Just goes to show you don't always need to renovate everything. Likewise on the back deck, they removed the rotting deck and had a perfectly good concrete patio that just needed the fireplace. Also added some nice simply landscaping around that deck and it looked fabulous.
The kitchen was huge and a knockout. The cabinets looked taupe but were a very light grey. Thankfully the hexagon tiles were a duller clay color then I thought it would be and worked well off the wood tones used in the ceiling beams. It was a huge kitchen.
I do appreciate that this team are problem solvers and liked how they solved the living room flooring problem. The refinished floors looked fabulous and I liked the coffee table Ben repurposed from the left over flooring.
There should be one more episode of the regular season and then the Makeover show starts May 2.

Erin and Ben's styles are more in my taste range, modern farmhouse for the most part.

Erin has said on numerous occasions she does like the craftsman color palette and that is simply not my taste. I do prefer a more neutral tone for the cabinet colors and a green toned grey goes with a lot. However Erin is designing for folks who seem to like a more traditional color palette. At least the kitchens are no longer brown and they are moving away from all white.

That seemed like a super excessive amount of money to paint siding. I remember thinking that the living room only needed the additional flooring and the dining room needed nothing. I remember Ben quoting 15K for the living room and I like to add up as I go along. The kitchen always has a larger budget. Honestly with the exception of the kitchen the interior didn't need much work. Did we ever get to see the bathroom/s? I guess they were in decent shape. Using that picture frame to fix the flooring issue was a good solution, I agree. I absolutely HATED that they painted the concrete steps green. I hate painted concrete almost as much as I hate painted brick. Ben and Erin seem to skimp on a lot of things on the outside. Would it be that expensive to put in new front steps? At first I was wondering why Erin chose that color for the saltillo kitchen tile but it did look nice with the wood beams on the ceiling. I usually record the episodes and watch later but Sunday night I fell asleep so I was watching this episode over breakfast this morning. I remember thinking during the first viewing that the 2nd house was closer in town, was not over budget, and was slightly larger. It had a nice large yard as well. Did the couple say why they chose the over budget house? I know Ben said they could remain in budget if they scrapped the exterior paint job. ETA: I liked Ben's interaction with his older brother Sam, the mathematician. I liked his comment "I'm not gonna say I'm the smartest in the family, but I am the one on TV.

I don't know if all the outside including the gutters, landscaping, and painting the house would cost a total of $35,000. That is a lot for Home Town. The aluminum siding needed an to be acid etched to accept a new paint color. Not painting the house saved them $15,000. The original budget was $220,000 and it ended up being $225,000, which is not bad as a renovation overage. As for the front steps. Brick once painted is very, very hard to go back to it's original surface. If painted once it needs to be painted again. Yes it would be expensive to demolish a perfectly good staircase, it would probably cost several thousand dollars to demolish and then be rebuild.

Unsellables - watched on April 20, 2021 episode, a retired lady tried for 6 months to sell her 1200 sq ft home for $500,000.She has retired and wants to move into a mother-in-law suite her daughter has prepared for her. The twins put together a plan which will cost $40,000 to prep the house for sale. The homeowner worries that the renovation will take a long time!!!!!! At this point I am going "lady you tried to sell it for 6 months and NOTHING happened". I was hoping the twins would tell her off and leave and let the lady try to sell her house unsuccessfully for another 6 months. Either that is scripted or the homeowner is so dumb I just want to spit some nails.
The twins were going to list the house for over $500,000 but after the renovation decided to list it for $610,000. They got multiple offers and within 5 days accepted $725,000. The twins did state that this was exceptional because the house was on a great location and there just was not any inventory which raised the price.
The kitchen looked fabulous after renovation. Black cabinets looks so good, as did the tile floor. The outside landscaping was in full bloom and the red Japanese maples stood out. No lawn, lots of trees.
