Thank you Joseph for all of your work!!!
Recently I've been watching so much HGTV. My favorite has to be House Hunters.
I now know what a 'farmhouse sink' is. And how many people want privacy and hate pedestal sinks.
I feel like I've grown as an adult just knowing these things.

And how many people want privacy and hate pedestal sinks. I feel like I've grown as an adult just knowing these things. I finally after many, many, many years got rid of the pedestal sink in my powder room and replaced it with a small 24" vanity. The storage is priceless and the room actually seems bigger.

I finally gave in and paid for the full season of Boise Boys on Amazon Video, and I'm all caught up. Looking forward to seeing what they do next. I like what they do to the houses, but I think Clint is a very patient man. Some of the changes that Luke wants to make just don't seem worth the money. But I have to admit that he's usually right.

I have to admit that a lot of things Luke wants to do I'm like "Nah" but they always work out in the end!
Luke said on a Instagram post that this season is at the halfway point, and a lot will depend on whether or not they will get another one. I hope people are watching; this show deserves another season.

Good Bones: Mina and Karen decide to test the waters in a new neighborhood, and decide to buy a little brick house for 20k. The house was very cute and had a schoolhouse charm, but the foundation was jacked and needed to be rebuilt. They worked their magic and did their usual "master bedroom downstairs, 2 bdrm, bath and loft upstairs" thing, but they sourced some special pieces for the house. The first was a old farmhouse sink that had the sink and then a sort of sidepanel that you put the dishrack on. The second was another smaller farmhouse sink that the installed in the half bath with a lot of black iron pipe that looked very nice. They decided to leave the brick exterior as is, but tuckpointed and added gutters at the roof. The inside styling reminded me a lot of Florence and the Machine type of styling with all the velvet, but the end result was nice, and the house sold for asking.
Don't forget Brother vs Brother comes on tomorrow! Instead of doing the usual paint by number suburban home makeovers that Property Brothers has been doing lately, the brothers put a lot more effort and style into their side projects, so it should be worth watching.

There is a half hour show on right after Good Bones called Hidden Potential. Like that it is a female head doing the construction and design. The premise is to take a cookie cutter home and make it unique.

Tarek and squeaky voice are back May 30 or was that May 31. I cringe thinking about squeaky's voice.

Hard pass. I only watched their first season when it was on Netflix, but they came off as real opportunists. He wanted to do everything for cheap, and seemed to take delight in berating his wife who actually wanted to spend money on the flips so they could, you know, look nice. He always wore flip flops to active job sites too. I know they're the OG Flip or Flop, but I prefer to watch people I don't despise. I prefer the Vegas and Ft Worth couples.

Yeah. I could never stand watching those two. They seemed so fake, and I just couldn't take them.

Do all my HGTV/TLC watching during the 2nd run, which starts at 11 pm and therefore don't get to see which house they chose on House Hunters, if they are going to Love it or List It, or any of the final reveals on Good Bones, Fixer Upper, etc. because I fall fast asleep. :D Last night Good Bones aired at midnight and I was able for some reason to stay awake until the end. Their first brick home and I loved the way it turned out. Hubby was just about to fall out when I insisted he stay awake as Mina and Karen did their walk-through. He promptly responded "It's a total tear down." To which I responded "But you don't know Mina and Karen. They lovingly restore these old homes in Indianapolis one at a time." He still insisted it needed to be torn down.
With that being said my thoughts on this episode: - They budgeted $130K for the total renovation but went significantly over by 50K due to the structural problems. In my estimation that is close to 40% over, which is quite a bit. It still amazes me, however, how they can do a total renovation, from the studs on out for such a little amount. They are essentially rebuilding the entire house for that price. -Mina kept saying the home was small. In what world is 2,000 square feet small? -Loved the wall design behind the sofas in both the living room and upstairs lounge. -Loved the farm sinks...those were TRUE farm sinks. And I loved the metal base designed for the sink in the bathroom. (or as my husband, the son of a plumber would say "Why does no one know that a sink in a bathroom is called a basin?") -Felt bad that they only netted 25K on this one. I guess b/c this is a new, upcoming neighborhood, they are not able to get as much as in the Fountain Square and other gentrified neighborhoods. -Was not crazy about the velvet furnishings but that is all staging anyway. -Where in the heck does one purchase a BRICK home (albeit in major disrepair) of that size anywhere? It still boggles the mind. 40' x 100' plots in this neck of the woods go for over 200K easily. Land only. -One final comment. They removed the staircase from the middle to the side, which was a good idea. On the walkthrough, when they had to enter the upstairs from outside, did they say how many bedrooms were originally there? By moving the staircase to the side, they had a lounge in the middle with 2 bedrooms on either side of it with a new bath. Really the only thing I disliked about the new layout was the adding of a master bedroom and bath on the 1st floor. Initially the 1st floor had living room, dining room and kitchen, one after the other with the kitchen being in the back of the home. Of course removing walls and opening the house up gave the illusion of space but they essentially lost a dining room. They moved the kitchen to the middle and placed the master bedroom in the back, thus making a smaller floor plan for living room and kitchen. The kitchen, while lovely, was not that large and there was a dining table with about room for 6 in the kitchen area. No true dining room. Or dining area since it was open concept. I did not consider that large enough. JMHO

And I really like the fact that she wants to make those homes unique. I'll have to catch this week's show on demand.

I enjoyed the Boise Boys farmhouse. It turned out really cool, and I'm glad that Luke's wife's friend was so in love with it and bought it. My only bone to pick is that they painted the trough. I think it would have looked really cool if they'd left it the way it was. Nothing says "farm" like a galvanized steel trough. They do make good bathtubs, though. The place that I lived before this one had a huge walk-in shower but no tub. I bought a shorter version of a trough like that and stuck it in the end of my shower. Those troughs are really deep, and it made a great soaker tub. I hope water is cheap in Boise, though. With the long trough that they got, it's going to take a ton of water to fill it deep enough to have a good bath in. I get why they went with the longer one. It was needed to fill up the space, but it's gonna take gallons and gallons of water. Just sayin'.

Good Bones - the Brick House
I honestly luv everything these ladies do. I luv'ed that they were able to reglaze and reuse the farm sinks in the kitchen and powder room. I do wish they had shown us the upstairs bathroom. I do think the styling of the house was outstanding with the mix of colors and texture. These ladies always amaze. I also wish they had shown us whatever yard space the house had.
Highlight was that the city seems to recognize what Mina and Karen are doing to help revitalize the city core and that their love of their hometown is so genuine, they truly are ambassadors for Indianapolis.

Hidden Potential
The steel beams at first surprised me when they went up because it did not look good and it is very hard to bring the industrial loft look into a suburban home, but Jasmine did it.
Liked the staircase and how opening it up makes a huge difference in the interior of the home. The outside at first I was not sure really needed updating but I can see the difference now. The walkway and the new door were definitely an improvement.
The huge sliding door in the living room is a highlight but those folding doors are expensive in the $20,000 range.

Boise Boys
Week after week the Boise Boys have stepped up their game and have done amazing work. The farmhouse they did this week reminded me so much of Fixer Upper with the black and white theme and wood tones. It was fun to see the Ikea vanity in the master bathroom and what I luv'ed about the tile floor in the master bathroom, the tile in the shower, and on the kitchen backsplash is that it was square and simple yet looked so good in a running bond pattern instead of stacked. The matte black finish on the kitchen backsplash was perfect.

Flip or Flop Vegas
There were two episodes of Flip or Flop Vegas tonight and I think Aubrey's decorating style is rubbing off on me as I liked both flips. They did a house in a golf course community and it was a black and white farmhouse theme and I admit it looked good. I also liked the downtown artist condo they did. That condo was very small and if it was mine I would not use a dining table in it but the finishes was good and I would keep the barn doors to the bedroom open just to show off that mural. Over all a good finish to the season. Good Bones, Hidden Potential, Boise Boys, and House Hunters Renovation will keep me busy and far, far, away from Tarek and Squeaky Voice.

Do all my HGTV/TLC watching during the 2nd run, which starts at 11 pm and therefore don't get to see which house they chose on House Hunters After so many years of watching all of the various versions of House Hunters (HH International, Renovation, etc), I finally decided that I DON'T WANT TO KNOW which house the clients end up with, since they rarely choose the one that I like!!! And I can't believe that it's really frustrating to me, but oddly enough, it is. So now, I happily watch the show, and turn it off after I've seen the 3rd house --- and in my mind, they've chosen the one that I like the best! :D

As an avid House Hunters junkie I have a few pet peeves:
1. What is the big deal about double sinks in the bathroom? Nobody has to brush their teeth side by side. If I hear that not having double sinks is a dealbreaker again, I will scream. 2. Those looking for a vintage house but then complain about lack of 'open concept' (another pet peeve) or lack of closet space! Old house were not built like that and if thats what you want you don't want vintage. 3. People who tour a newly remodeled house and still want to rip out the kitchen because its not their taste! Such a waste. Just walk away and find a fixer or a kitchen you do like. The term 'total gut job' ARGHHHHHH 4. And the 'ugly Americans' on HHI that complain about room size and other such horrors when looking for a home overseas. Maybe you should stay stateside.
I am sure there are more but thats it for now. Still love the show but not always the buyers.
