Amazing Race 36 premieres Wednesday, March 13th at 9:30pm ET.
The biggest bit of drama surrounding the season is that it's not actually season 36. TAR 35 was filmed AFTER the season that is about to air.
Apparently, this season was already filmed and edited as hour-long episodes before CBS decided to switch SURV/TAR to 90-minute blocks on Wednesdays. So, it was easier for the producers to just film a new season and edit it as 90-minute shows than to go back and re-edit an existing season, which is what they had to do here.
Casting and other details have yet to be announced.

Well darn! Survivor made the Fall Season, but Amazing Race didn't. The Amazing Race has now been pushed to midseason to make room for a new reality competition series called The Summit. The Summit is based on an Australian series. In the Australian version, several contestants have 14 days to climb to the peak of a mountain. Each carries enough money for a combined $1 million. However, if a climber drops out, the prize money is reduced. Some people quit. Some people are voted out. Some people are eliminated for being too slow. The prize money is only awarded if at least one team makes it to the top of the mountain in the allotted 14 days. If multiple teams make it to the stop, the eliminated players decide how the money is split between them. That sounds like it would make for an interesting dynamic, as the players are competing against each other but also need to work together. I guess if you are a hiking enthusiast this is perfect. But, I am not comfortable watching people climbing up mountains in movies, let alone in a realty series. So, I'll find something else to amuse me then during that time slot, and back for Amazing Race mid season return 2025.
