They bring in an extra contestant, Soo, who has to win 5 challenges in Last Chance in order to get into the competition. They challenged them to make some comfort food (to go with beer) with some high end ingredients. Tom says he doesn't want anything fancy. Soo was a former pro golfer, now a chef down in Chicago. Says he'll do well because of his creativity. He's making fish and chips, but using lobster, batter is made with champagne, and is doing rice noodle chips (?). He tops the tartar sauce with caviar. Valentine is making a lobster bake because he's from New England and that's comfort food to him. He is going for some redemption with the corn puree. Includes sausage, potatoes, etc. Tom really likes both dishes. But, he sends Valentine home because again his corn is too thick! Tom has a problem with thick corn apparently! I feel bad for Valentine. I'll eat his nice thick corn soup!

I was rooting for Valentine, seems like such a nice man. Wonder if Tom sent him home to give this Soo guy a win.Not a judge manipulating an outcome........oh no of course not.

I was rooting for Valentine, as well.
I'm not too keen on adding this "16th contestant" who has to win five challenges in order to get a spot in the regular competition. I feel like Tom might be favoring Soo, to make this "twist" a big important deal.

Do they all hang around until the end?

Not at all surprised at who gets back in the competition. Seemed like a sure thing from the get-go.
