I just started shopping at Whole Foods again since Amazon bought WF and WOW, have the prices gotten better! I've been doing Amazon Now delivery from WF for a while and the prices there are great, but obviously, the store has a better selection. I went into the store about a month ago and there were Amazon Prime signs all over the place. If you download the WF app and sign in with your Prime account info, you can save a ton in the store. There's a little QR code on the home page of the app that the cashier scans at the register and you get the discounts. Today, they had 1 lb containers of organic strawberries, 2 for $5 and a big container of blueberries for $4.50. In the summer, I gorge myself on fresh fruit, especially strawberries and blueberries. I saved on other stuff too.
I'm not in favor of Amazon owning everything, but in this case it's saved me a lot of money AND I can spend it in a local store.
OH and because I spent over $10, I got $10 credited to my Amazon account to spend on Prime Day (I think that deal is for purchases between now and the 17th, so it's still good). Gonna go crazy and probably buy some cat food!
Anyway, I guess this is a bit of a combo WF/Amazon post, but I thought I'd share for people who maybe haven't shopped at WF in a while AND who either have or are considering a Prime membership. The other week ago, one of the great deals was a bag of 4 avocados for $2.99. I didn't get that one, since I'd literally just bought a bag of avocados, but I get their 4 count bags of them all the time and they're really good.

Thanks Critical, maybe Prime would be a good idea for me.

I thought it was a great deal until I found out I needed to download an app, which was no good on my flip phone. But I had signed up for the 30 day Prime free trial and it was annoying that the cashier would always ask if I was a Prime member and I had to say yes, but I can't prove that to you. So I finally caved and bought Verizon's cheapest smart phone. Then wasn't sure for frustrating hours whether I could load the Whole Foods/Prime app onto Verizon's cheapest smart phone. Turns out that I could (and possibly I just needed to register my flip phone's number but I'm past that now).
So I'm spending a lot more money than I used to (boo!) but I have a much better and more convenient camera than I used to (yeah!). And a source of free movies and stuff.
I don't question I'll see a lot of potential Prime savings when I go to WF, but it only helps if I'm willing to eat all of it. I just got down to my goal weight.
This Saturday is my maiden voyage at WF.

I don't have a flip phone, but I have the phone version before Smart Phones. It's touch with a full keyboard, but not a smart phone. Do you mind me asking what model & price is your Smart Phone>? I really do need to get with the times & get one, but the prices look awful & it increases my monthly bill too.

Samsung Galaxy J3V. Either $7 per month or $168 (approx.) which works out to being "free" after 2 years. Another $29 for a protective coating from Staples. I gave up my awesome $30/month plan for $55/month.
I thought I could trade in my flip phone for something non-smart but free because I had it so long, but there is no 2 year plan any more. The cheapest flip phone I could have purchased from Verizon would have been $5 per month. I did need a new something because the backing disappeared and the battery kept falling out.
I didn't do any homework. Spur of the moment heading into the Verizon store.

Mine is a lot more than 2 years old. I'd say about 5 or 6. Definitely time for a replacement. I keep hoping for those good old days when after so many years (5 or 6 should be plenty) you get a new phone for free or $50.00. I now realize those days aren't coming back. I was really hoping for a cheapo, last year or before's model $99.00 smartphone. I guess I'm still living in a dream world. The $168.00 is livable, but the $25.00 a month increase for the plan makes me mad.

The Prime code on my new phone worked! I'll never recoup the additional costs of this phone but I might find a variety of ways to recoup the cost of the Prime membership. I have been learning lately how alarmingly contaminated almost all of our commercial food is (glyphosate sprayed on almost everything) and how many ways it can affect our health so I'm grateful there is a Whole Foods in my town because I'm almost entirely organic now. So long as I prepare everything from scratch, because I don't trust the quality of the ingredients used in their deli counter and prepared meals.

I'm the same way, Brooks. There are a few things I buy that are pre-made (a Lean Cuisine or a bagged salad here and there), but I mostly shop the outside of the grocery store - ie, the produce, dairy and meat...and not that much meat. I eat a huge amount of steamed broccoli every week and I'm a bit snobby about it. The only place I'd really buy it, aside from the farmers market where it's hard to find, was Trader Joe's. That was before I got some from WF. Just as good as TJ's. So sweet and no artificial taste like you find at some grocery stores. I generally shop WF through Amazon Now and the shopper always chooses nice big broccoli crowns. I save enough money NOT shopping in the store and being at risk of impulse buying that it's worth the few bucks I have to spend to tip the driver. The amount of money I'd spend on impulse buying is definitely higher than that tip! Now that WF's prices have dropped a bit AND I get deals via Prime, I can afford to shop there more. Still though, when by budget's tight like it is now, it's safer for me to shop WF via Amazon Now. I love going to the store, but so many random things end up in my basket when I go! I'm glad your Prime membership has turned out to be a good thing. I don't buy many books from Amazon, but I do use it for groceries and I definitely lean on it to buy random things I can't easily get in one shopping trip. It's the cheapest place I've found for the cat litter I like AND someone delivers it to my door! I also love Prime Video and some of the perks for Kindle users too.

Fun list of products: www.delish.com/food/g22559891/things-to-buy-at-whole-foods/I haven't tried most of them, but I agree about the frozen fruit and coconut oil. Oh, and the fresh pastries, which I try stay away from - I generally enter the store on the opposite end from the bakery as an avoidance tactic Although the Beyond Meat burgers are okay, at twice the price of Boca, they're not really worth the expense. If I'm splurging on a veggie burger, I'll go out and get an Impossible Burger.

All the Whole Foods near me have signs up saying they are having problems with their distributors so no Beyond Burgers are available. Anyone else having this problem? They are really popular here.

WF has had some great deals on produce lately. I got canteloupes for $1.99 each last week and a pineapple for the same price this week. Asparagus for $2.99/lb last week too. Whenever I'm shopping (Amazon Now), I always check the weekly deals. Some of the "deals" are laughable - still not spending, say, $11 for shower gel - but some are really great.

They're kinda pricey but I really like their ready made salads. They have different kinds and I have at least one a week.

For those who are Whole Foods shoppers AND who love tea, WF has all packaged teas on sale 35% off right now (I think you have to have a Prime membership for the discount, but I'm not positive). I got several types of Republic of Tea teas that usually run between $10.50 and $13 for around $7 and $8. Other teas are even less. Nice time to do a little stocking up!

If you're a WF shopper and like seafood, they have Dover sole filets on sale this week for $6.29/lb. That's cheaper even than Trader Joe's, which I think charges $6.99/lb.

Whole Foods has a new (I think) line of frozen veggie mixes. I bought several of them last week and tried one tonight. It's called European Greens and has broccoli, little peas and green beans with a basil and garlic sauce. The sauce is more seasoning than a heavy sauce. I had some tonight over tortellini and chopped grilled chicken, with a little shredded Parmesan. It was excellent and tasted much more decadent than it actually was! I'd definitely buy this one again
