I’d read reports that his top priority was protecting the woman who was his right hand from prosecution. Yesterday documents against her were released, and they are getting attention because of incriminating info on Prince Andrew. Seems that may have been a final straw for him.

I was just coming to say the same thing, gutmutter. Way too many important people had a connection to him and his doings. Lots of fears what would come out during a trial....so this does not pass the sniff test for me.

A lot of deep pockets and high profiles with loads to lose. The rumors are already flying. Yeah. I just saw an article saying that the Justice Department is investigating and very unhappy that this was allowed to happen. I don't care how or why it happened. ..he got what was coming to him. The only problem is that his death could stop the investigation and keep other high-profile people who were involved in using his victims from being exposed and perhaps prosecuted.

I agree with sweetmermaid1. I don't care how or why. I'm glad he won't have the opportunity to ever exploit or abuse another young (or any age) woman. I'm glad they won't be dragged through the mud and humiliated further during a trial. I'm glad we won't have to hear about it. I'm glad we won't hear him whitewashing what he's done. I'm glad we won't have to hear about anyone defending him in any way. The man was scum & now he's gone. Sounds good to me.
I doubt any investigation would have ended with any other high profile people being exposed or prosecuted. The Good Old Boy Club of the rich & famous is very much alive & kicking, and covering up as always.

Unfortunately, this means that many of his secrets died with him and lots of scummy pedophiles will now likely never be punished. I’m not a big conspiracy theorist, but I don’t think his death coming so soon after he was taken off suicide watch is a coincidence. It feels like Putin-ish tactics to me.
I’ve read stories about Prince Andrew for years. I wonder if The Firm (which we know does whatever is necessary to protect their own) can help him now.

Yeah. I think his death is pretty fishy.

My conspiracy theory is that Barr told them to look the other way and now he's pretending to be "appalled". That's why he's got Rosenstein out there saying this is a common occurrence.
I'm probably way off base; it's my anger talking. Because as much as I understand wanting him gone, this safeguards at least some of his sick friends' secrets and for me, even one is too many.

Believing that the people he serviced go unknown with Epstein’s death really takes into question the evidence against him. The likelihood of him talking was extremely thin. However, the likelihood of victims speaking up without the threat of Epstein increases. The victims know who did what to them, and for the famous perpetrators it’s easier to identify. Epstein is not the only one who knew what happened.

They are going after her. The prosecutors have made it clear that their investigation was not exclusively about Epstein, and will not stop with his death. THey're investigating a conspiracy, and a conspiracy means more than one person

The FBI conducted a raid today on Epstein's island - so the investigation is still quite active.

The rumors I’m referring to are in regard to his predilection for underage girls.

I mentioned Andrew because his name came up in a post, not because he was the only one. There are also rumors that investigators on the case have interviewed one of both of Andrew's daughters.

Katy Perry has been accused of sexual misconduct from a co star in the teenage dream music video. It doesn't surprise me. I think she says all kinds of inappropriate things to contestants on American Idol. I've been quite surprised they've allowed her to continue doing that in the #metoo era. To be fair, I thought that Paula Abdul also spoke inappropriately to contestants. The slight difference for her is that it was a different time socially. I may have found it inappropriate, but it wasn't a major thing in the news at the time. Since we are finally making strides in telling men that those kinds of comments are not acceptable, we should not have double standards and not say something when it is a woman saying it.

I read an article today about Placido Domingo, and all I can do is shake my head. How many more will we find out about before this is all over.
I also wonder if it's changing anything or not. I hope so, but I have my doubts.

Scarlett Johansson vehemently defends Woody Allen
"Woody Allen has a defender in frequent collaborator Scarlett Johansson. The actress, 34, told The Hollywood Reporter in its new cover story that she wouldn’t hesitate to work again with Allen, who has been accused by estranged daughter Dylan Farrow of sexual abuse. “I love Woody,” Johansson said. “I believe him, and I would work with him anytime.” Allen, 83, has directed Johansson in “Match Point,” “Scoop” and “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.” Although much of Hollywood has distanced itself from Allen in light of the resurfaced allegations and #MeToo movement, Johansson said she feels adamant about sticking by his side. “I see Woody whenever I can, and I have had a lot of conversations with him about it,” she explained. “I have been very direct with him, and he’s very direct with me. He maintains his innocence, and I believe him.” Johansson said she understood that it’s difficult to defend Allen given the socio-political climate in Hollywood, but wouldn’t back down from believing in his innocence. “It’s hard because it’s a time where people are very fired up, and understandably,” she said. “Things needed to be stirred up, and so people have a lot of passion and a lot of strong feelings and are angry, and rightfully so. It’s an intense time.”"

I have never liked Woody Allen. He creeped me out even before he married his step-daughter. Yeah. Even if we ignore Soon Yi, just look at the movie Manhattan, which was brilliant but disturbing in terms of his alter ego's relationship with a teenager. And Mariel Hemingway says he tried to get her to go on trips with him and was generally creepy with her.

Yeah! It's pretty wild. I heard him interviewed by Terry Gross on NPR the other day, and I think they covered pretty much everything that was in that article. There were lots of people involved in trying to cover up the Weinstein story in order to protect their own personal and financial interests (and in the case of NBC, keep the Matt Lauer story from coming out).
