Top Ten Men - The Top Ten men take the stage, each partnered with an All-Star girl for a choreographed duet outside their own style. They have the chance to prove to the judges and America why they should move on in the competition.
Enjoy the show!

Final five: Evan -Jay Jay Cole Darius and Slavik I felt they let too many animators go through, and cut some other really good dancers. ( jmho) Cole really did well tonight, I hope he can keep it up

Tough cuts tonight, but the judges comments telegraphed their choices so no surprises. Glad that Dustin has a few more years if he decides to return. Evan & Slavick are meh for me, but JayJay, Cole, and Darius have been stars throughout. Looking forward to the pairings next week!
I want to teach myself the Comforte/Darius piece, it looked like so much fun😁

Tough cuts for the guys. I'm happy with their choices.
I really wish they would have done the top 20 and paired them together instead of this way

And did I hear them say they will be paired "with each other" next week? So no all-stars? Maybe I misheard, but....I wonder if they will switch partners around and have them do two routines each week? I guess that would help when an extremely strong dancer is hurt by his/her pairing, but then having to learn two routines plus the opening number every week is tough!! I really like having them paired together though, so I hope it is something like that!!

Maybe one duet and then a solo each week? I'm still annoyed they made such a huge cut. I loved the old format with ten pairs. I have to say, I'm happy we don't have as many street dancers this time. I'm sick of the judges giving them praise for mediocre performances outside of their style. When a ballroom dancer does contemporary and they aren't up to par, they get criticism (although I did agree that Jay Jay's frame needed to be stronger last night). When a hip hop dancer does an okay ballroom performance, the judges act like they're the best thing ever and the ignore any weaknesses in their technique. They should either give each dancer an actual critique or just hand out participation trophies and be done with it.
I think Evan is a good tapper, but Nigel's comments about how he pointed his feet in that contemporary dance were puzzling. I was sitting here yelling, "Point your feet!" It was especially noticeable in the pirouettes. I know it's my thing, but trained dancers point their whole leg - not just their toes. It ruins the whole line when there's this dead foot at the end of the leg. It's the issue I have when figure skaters go on DWTS. Beautiful lines, but clunky, dead feet.
Right now, I'm rooting for Cole and Hannalei.
I'm still not happy with Vanessa as a judge. She's not as bad as Ellen was on AI, but still. It's clear from her comments that she's not a dancer. I don't know why they hired her in the first place. It's not like she's a huge star that would bring in viewers. I'd prefer they bring back one of the previous judges who can give more than fluffy comments that mean nothing: "I couldn't take my eyes off of you. You had so much energy. I loved it." I'd guess that Twitch has a lot of other things going on in his life, but I'd be happy to see him on the judging panel.

Critical, I 100% agree with your comments on Vanessa. As a judge she doesn't add anything; her comments are a waste of airspace. The only reason I can guess that they hired her is youth -- maybe someone thought she would appeal to the younger demographic. But on SYTYCD the better alternative would have been a choreographer or past contestant.
